Linguine with Clams and Cherry Tomatoes

August 8, 2023

Linguine with Clams and Cherry Tomatoes is a vibrant and light seafood pasta that brings together tender clams, sweet cherry tomatoes, and al dente linguine in a beautifully aromatic garlic and white wine sauce. This dish offers a perfect balance of flavors, with the briny sweetness of the clams complemented by the juicy burst of cherry tomatoes and the subtle heat from garlic and red pepper flakes. It’s a simple yet elegant dish that highlights the freshness of the ingredients.

The linguine, a slightly thicker pasta, provides a perfect base to soak up the savory sauce. It’s cooked to perfection, allowing it to absorb the flavorful juices from the clams and tomatoes as it simmers together. The clams are gently steamed in white wine, garlic, and a splash of olive oil, releasing their juices into the sauce and creating a briny depth of flavor.

The cherry tomatoes are halved and sautƩed with garlic and a pinch of red pepper flakes, allowing them to soften and release their sweet juices into the sauce. The burst of flavor from the tomatoes adds a refreshing contrast to the briny clams, making each bite a perfect balance of sweet, savory, and slightly spicy flavors.

Once the clams open, they are tossed with the linguine and the tomato sauce, allowing the pasta to soak up all the flavorful juices. Fresh parsley is stirred in for an added burst of freshness, and a drizzle of olive oil can be added for richness. A squeeze of lemon juice right before serving brightens up the dish and brings out the natural sweetness of the seafood and tomatoes.

Linguine with Clams and Cherry Tomatoes is perfect for a quick and elegant weeknight dinner, a special meal for guests, or anytime you’re craving something fresh and light. It’s a delicious celebration of seafood that’s both satisfying and refreshing.

In summary, this dish combines tender clams, sweet cherry tomatoes, and linguine in a fragrant garlic and white wine sauce, creating a light, fresh, and flavorful pasta dish that’s simple yet sophisticated. The perfect balance of flavors makes it a standout choice for any seafood lover.

Meh, the clams were a bit chewy and the whole thing lacked flavor. I added lemon juice but still not great.

So simple but so good! I used canned clams because I’m not a fan of fresh ones and it turned out fine.

Why do people eat clams? They look like giant bugs in the ocean. Disgusting.

Linguine and spaghetti are not the same! Linguine is flat while spaghetti is round. But both are yummy! šŸ˜‚

Five stars just for the simplicity. Also, quick note: don’t forget to discard the unopened clams—my uncle once didn’t and ugh… never again.

Meh. I thought this was going to be better. Just ok.

It was okay, but felt like it needed something more. Maybe some lemon or spice? Idk.

    1. User avatar flavia.cronin says:

      5 stars
I totally agree! A squeeze of lemon would give it that extra zing. I also added red pepper flakes for some heat, and it was delish!

I tried with canned clams and it didn’t taste the same. šŸ¤” Can someone explain why?

    1. 3 stars
I dunno, I think canned clams can be fine. It’s all about the seasoning! Maybe you just need to add more garlic or wine? šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø

Canned clams just don’t have the fresh taste of real ones! They’re great for a quick fix but not for this recipe. šŸ˜…

The instructions were real clear and easy to follow! But why no cheese? I always thought pasta with seafood needed cheese!

  16. User avatar maxwell.romaguera73 says:

Pretty much restaurant vibes. I was nervous about the clams, but they opened right on time. Next time I’ll add a pinch of red pepper flakes.

  17. User avatar Deku Royalty says:

This dish was amazing! The clams were perfect and the flavor was off the charts. Will definitely make it again!

  18. User avatar Lucille Ernser says:

Mine came out a bit salty—maybe I overdid the salt at the end. Also, the sauce was thinner than I expected, but it still tasted great.

    1. User avatar verlie.hagenes says:

      4 stars
Sorry it was salty! I usually wait to season until after the clams—there’s already some natural brininess. For a thinner sauce, did you let the wine reduce a bit more? Next time maybe simmer 2–3 extra minutes before tossing with the linguine.

  19. User avatar gustavo.shields says:

This recipe is amazing! The clams were fresh and the flavors were on point. Definitely saving this for future dinners!

I tried this recipe and my clams didn’t open. What am I doing wrong?

    1. User avatar barney.rutherford41 says:

      4 stars
Maybe they were dead before you cooked them? You gotta make sure they’re all alive! That’s why they don’t open. Try soaking them in salt water before cooking next time.

    2. User avatar Galadriel says:

      3 stars
I always have that problem too! You should try steaming them longer or adding more wine. That usually works for me.

  22. User avatar dong.harvey65 says:

    3 stars
Linguini? Didn’t know that was a pasta. This was alright for me, I guess.

  23. 5 stars
This was sooo good! I didn’t have clams so I used shrimp instead and it was still delicious! 5 stars!

    1. 5 stars
I’m glad you enjoyed it! Shrimp is a great substitute if you can’t find clams. It sounds like a delicious twist!

Linguine with clams is my favorite dish! This was super easy to make and I had all the ingredients in my kitchen. Will make again.

Looks easy but I’ve had bad experiences with clams. Are they really safe eating if they don’t open?

    2. User avatar nickolas.batz1973 says:

I thought clams were gross at first, but this made me a fan! Easy to make too! Just be careful with the wine.

  29. 1 star
I don’t know what clams are. Do they taste like chicken? LOL. I’m gonna try it with shrimp instead.

  30. 4 stars
I didn’t have any parsley, but it was still good. I used basil instead. A flavorful twist!

  31. User avatar moises.hirthe says:

    2 stars
The clams didn’t open for me?! I followed the recipe exactly. Disappointed.

  32. User avatar oliver.mosciski49 says:

    3 stars
Clams opened but I was unsure about the ones that stayed shut. I tossed them like the recipe said—okay, maybe I overdid the salt. Next time less salt.

    1. User avatar Miles Teg says:

      3 stars
Wait—shouldn’t you soak the clams first? I usually rinse them in cold water and scrub any sand. Otherwise the salt might just be covering up grit šŸ˜…. Next time try cleaning better instead of only reducing salt.

    2. User avatar oPandariaNo says:

      5 stars
I always do the ā€œdiscard the ones that don’t openā€ rule too—feels a little harsh, but better than risking it. Also yeah, clams + wine can already taste salty, so less salt at the end is usually perfect.

  33. 2 stars
Way too much garlic for my liking. I could hardly taste the tomatoes!

    1. 4 stars
I think garlic adds a great flavor! But I see your point. You could always use less next time!

  34. User avatar jermaine.jones says:

  36. 5 stars
Remember to add lemon juice for extra flavor, it makes a big difference! šŸ˜‹

    1. 5 stars
I totally agree! Lemon juice really brings out the flavors! šŸ‹

  37. 2 stars
Tasted ok, but my pasta was overcooked. I guess I didn’t read the package instructions right.

  38. User avatar randa.mayert41 says:

    3 stars
Too much garlic for my taste. Next time, I might skip it or use less.

  39. User avatar liberal.hero says:

    5 stars
Made this tonight and it’s restaurant-level. The tomatoes burst perfectly and the wine sauce tastes amazing with the linguine. I finished with extra parsley because… why not šŸ˜„

  40. User avatar houston.murphy says:

    3 stars
A little too much garlic for my taste. Next time I’ll cut it down. But overall, decent dish.

    1. User avatar Draugr Wight says:

      3 stars
Too much garlic? Nah, you gotta embrace it! It gives such a nice flavor! Just add more seafood next time!

    2. User avatar boris.schowalter26 says:

      4 stars
I love garlic, but I get it, sometimes it can be overbearing! Glad you enjoyed it otherwise!
