I donāt have a blender, so mine was chunky. Still taste good tho!
meh
All excited about the Indian Tomato soup. My husband loves anything with Indian flavoring, as in turmeric. Hope he enjoys this. I know I will.
Love how easy this recipe is! I substituted some of the spices and it still came out tasty! Yay!
Easy? I donāt know, I struggled with the spices. Maybe Iām just not good in the kitchen. š
Glad to hear you liked it! I also tried adding some coconut milk and it was delicious!
Iām skeptical about using sugar in a soup, but it really does balance the flavors. Surprising!
This is basically tomato soup but with Indian flavorālove that! The immersion blender step makes it silky. I added a little cream and it was even better.
Totally agreeāthose cumin + garam masala flavors make it feel nothing like plain tomato soup. The blender step is key for that silky texture.
Interesting! Iāve never thought to add sugar to tomato soups, but it makes sense for balancing the acidity. How much cream did you add (like a splash or more)?
Not gonna lie, I was skeptical about simmering only 20 minutes with 2 pounds of tomatoes. But after blending, it tasted deep and mellow. Nice.
My family loved it. Even my picky daughter asked for seconds! Thanks!
Pretty good, but I think 2 pounds of tomatoes might be a lot if your broth is salty. I had to add a splash more water and salt at the end. Still tasty though.
This soup is amazing! The flavors are so rich and comforting. My family loved it!
Why use ghee? Isn’t it just butter? I tried it with olive oil instead. Not the same, I know, but it works for me.
Itās okay, but honestly, I think I prefer my tomato soup from the can. Just not my thing, I guess.
I totally get it! Sometimes, store-bought just hits the spot. But this recipe is still worth a try if you want to experiment a bit! š
Made this tonightāwow. The cumin + garam masala combo is so comforting, and the sugar balance is spot on. I blended it extra smooth and it tasted restaurant-level.
Wasnāt a fan. I thought the spices were too much. Guess it’s just not for me.
I followed it exactly and it came out super flavorful but my blender made it look a little grainy. Still tasted great thoughājust not as smooth as I wanted.
Glad it came out flavorful! For graininess, Iāve found blending longer helpsāespecially if the tomatoes didnāt fully break down in that 20 min simmer. Next time try blending after an extra 5ā10 minutes of simmering.
Made this for my family and my kids loved it but my husband said itās too spicy! I guess heās not a fan of chili.
Eh, it was just soup. I expected more flavor with all those spices.
This soup was AMAZING! So flavorful and comforting. I added a bit of cream on top. Will make again!
This soup is sooo good! I never thought I could make something like this at home. Thank you for sharing!
I’m so glad you loved it! It’s one of my favorites too! Can’t wait to try more recipes from you!
Really? Soup at home? Sounds hard! I usually just get it from a can…but maybe I’ll try this!
1 minute of cumin? idk⦠mine burned lol. Soup was still kinda tasty but I donāt think Iām gonna do it the same way again.
Ugh, cumin can go from ātoastyā to āburntā so fast. I usually keep it on medium-low and pull the moment it smells nutty.
I don’t know, something felt off. Maybe too much cumin? It was okay.
5 minutes to cook tomatoes?? Mine took way longer to get rich. I guess depends on tomato type. Taste was good but timing feels off.
Really easy recipe. A plus for me since Iām a beginner cook. Thanks for sharing!
Pretty good! The sugar really helps balance the tomatoes. I simmered a bit longer (like 30 min) and it got thicker and richer.
I found it a bit spicy for my taste. I maybe should’ve used less chili? But it was okay overall.
You could definitely adjust the amount of chili next time! I like mine spicy, but having it too hot can ruin a good soup. Glad you still enjoyed it overall!
I reckon it ain’t too spicy if you follow the recipe! Just toughen up a bit, haha! A little spice is good for the soul, I say.
My family thought it was super spicy at first, but then it mellowed. I used a small green chili and it was perfect. Yum!
I made this and it was kinda intense at first too š Then after simmering it felt way more balanced. Next time Iāll also start with less chili.
Yes! That āspicy at first then mellowā thing is so real with tomato + chili. Iām glad the small green chili worked for youāyum indeed.
Tasty! š„š„
Way too much oil in this recipe! Can we cut back a bit or what?
Tomato soup is tomato soup! but this one has curry so its good I guess.
Simple ingredients but great taste! Who knew soup could be this good?
Honestly, I don’t get the hype. It’s just tomatoes and spices. Would rather have a burger.
I totally agree! This soup is a game changer! Who would’ve thought such simple stuff could be so delicious?
Why do you add sugar? Isn’t that bad for the soup? I didn’t and it turned out fine.
The instructions are clear, but the amounts feel a bit all over. Like 2 lbs tomatoes + 2 cups brothāmine was thicker than soup. Still delicious though.
I don’t know if I’m missing something, but mine turned out super sour. Maybe too many tomatoes?
This soup is soooo good! I added some croutons and wow!!
I made this and my kids loved it. Just used less chili because they can’t handle it. Super easy recipe!
Not sure if I did it right… the soup turned out pretty thin and bland. Might need more seasoning.
I had the same issue! I added more spices and some salt, and it really helped. Donāt give up, just tweak it! š
Love Indian flavors, so this hit the spot. I added a little extra chili and some black pepper. Next time Iāll use fire-roasted tomatoes for more smokiness.
I don’t understand why people add sugar to savory soup… itās weird. Didnāt work for me.
Not convinced. The sugar seems weird to me⦠like why sweeten tomatoes? I did it anyway and it improved, but Iām still side-eyeing that measurement.
Totally get the side-eye š Tomatoes can be really acidic and the sugar just rounds it out. Itās not āsweet tomatoesā so much as āless sharp.ā
I used to think the same thing, but 1 tsp in 2 lbs tomatoes is basically a balancing act. If your tomatoes are already sweet, you can even cut it.
Meh. It was soup. Not bad but not special either. I mean, itās just tomato soup, right?
I personally loved it! The spices really make it special, not just another tomato soup. Give it another shot! ā¤ļø
Simple and tasty, but I donāt think itās Indian. My aunt makes better soup.
I get what you’re saying! It’s kinda Westernized for sure. But hey, it’s still delicious!
Made it without cilantro. Still good! Just had to sprinkle some parmesan on top. Lol.
This recipe made me feel fancy! Was nice to impress the family with something different.
Not bad. I did not have cilantro so used parsley like you do with salad.
I dunno if parsley can replace cilantro. It’s like, totally different flavors! But whatever works for ya!
Using parsley is a smart idea! I think it would still taste great. Gonna try it next time!
This soup is okay but Iāve had better Indian soups. Just not what I expected.
Made this with my 5 year old! She loved helping out with the blending part but then she also spilled the broth. Oops! š Still turned out great though!
Really easy to make. But I didnāt have ghee so used butter, still good! š
It was edible, but bland to me. I think my tomatoes werenāt very ripe. Maybe I needed more salt or broth seasoning.
I can’t believe how simple this was! I used canned tomatoes ’cause I couldn’t find fresh ones and it was still yum!
Canned tomatoes are a great shortcut! Glad you enjoyed it! š
Really? Canned ones? I always thought fresh is better. Did it taste as good though?
Not my cup of tea, was expecting more from an Indian recipe. A bit bland for my palate.
I totally understand where you’re coming from! Indian food can be bold in flavors, and sometimes recipes just donāt hit the mark. Maybe try adding more chili or spices next time?
Eh, I liked it! Maybe you just need to experiment more with the spices. Not everything’s for everyone, I guess.
This soup is absolutely delicious! The flavors are so rich and the spices are on point. Will definitely make again!
I don’t know, sounds too spicy for me. Be careful with those spices!
I tried this recipe and it was a hit! My family loved it. Thanks for sharing!
I made this for my family, and they loved it! Even my picky son went for seconds.
I think it’s too spicy! My tongue is on fire. Maybe less chili next time.
Great recipe!! I used chicken broth instead of veggie ’cause that’s what I had. Still turned out good!
I’m not a great cook, but this recipe was easy to follow. It turned out better than I expected.
Glad to hear it worked out for you! Tomato soup is easier than it sounds, right? š
Great weeknight soup. I donāt have an immersion blender so I used a regular blenderājust be careful not to overfill. Came out smooth.
Love this! Iāve made it with an immersion blender before, but your regular-blender note helps a ton. Smooth soup is exactly what I want on busy nights.
Delicious! Added some cream on top to make it richer. Will make again.
I love the idea of adding cream! It sounds even yummier. Can’t wait to try it with that twist!
Isn’t tomato soup just supposed to be for kids? Why add all this stuff? I ain’t sure about this one.
Took me forever to make! I thought tomato soup is supposed to be easy. Never making this again.
You just gotta practice, it’s not that hard once you get the hang of it! I find it really easy now. Maybe try again? š
I get that! This recipe looks complicated with all those steps. I’ll stick to my can of tomato soup. š¤·āāļø
Tomatosoup
This looks amazing! Can’t wait to try it. I’m a huge fan of tomato soup, especially with those spices.
