Homemade Irish Cream

March 3, 2025

Homemade Irish cream is a deliciously rich liqueur that blends the warmth of whiskey with the smooth sweetness of cream, cocoa, and vanilla. It’s a comforting drink that can be enjoyed on the rocks, mixed into coffee, or used in desserts like cheesecakes and chocolate mousses. While the store-bought version is popular, making it at home allows you to adjust the flavors and create a fresher, more personalized version that’s just as creamy and indulgent.

The core of Irish cream is heavy cream and Irish whiskey, combined with sweetened condensed milk for richness and body. Cocoa powder or chocolate syrup adds a touch of depth, while vanilla extract and a pinch of instant coffee enhance the overall flavor with warm, subtle notes. Some versions include almond or hazelnut extract for a twist, but even the basic recipe is flavorful and well-rounded.

One of the best things about homemade Irish cream is how easy it is to make. Everything gets blended together until smooth, then chilled until ready to serve. There’s no need to cook or age the mixture, and it keeps in the fridge for up to two weeks. Because it’s made with real cream, shaking or stirring before serving helps restore its silky texture.

This creamy liqueur is perfect for sipping on cold evenings or serving during the holidays. It makes a lovely gift when bottled in a decorative jar with a ribbon and tag. It also works beautifully in coffee drinks or cocktails like mudslides or boozy milkshakes.

Homemade Irish cream has the same smooth, sweet charm of the store-bought version but with fresher ingredients and no preservatives. Once you try it, you may never want to go back to the bottled kind again.

I don’t know how to feel about this… Seems like too much whiskey? Can it still be good? 🤔

  2. User avatar wayne.witting84 says:

    4 stars
Tried it last night! Didn’t have heavy cream, used milk instead… Still tasted pretty good! But I think real cream is better?

  3. User avatar harvey.wilderman12 says:

Y’all, this is just a fancy way to mix whiskey and coffee. I like my drinks straightforward. 2 stars.

  4. User avatar Loonquawl says:

This irish cream recipe is amazin! I made it for my friends, now they keep askin for more. Easy to make and taste delish!

  5. 3 stars
I only had dark chocolate syrup and used that instead. It came out okay, but way sweeter and a little thicker. Still drank it anyway lol.

  6. 4 stars
Super easy to make. My grandma used to make something similar but with more chocolate. This is good too!

  7. User avatar Super Saiyan 2 Vegeta says:

This is dangerous. I sipped it “just a little” and suddenly it’s gone. Creamy, chocolatey, and it mixes great in coffee. 10/10 for holiday vibes.

  8. 4 stars
Just made this, and wow! Tastes great but I think I put too much whiskey.

    1. 5 stars
Haha, too much whiskey? There’s no such thing! Glad you liked it!

    2. User avatar Dr. Bud Huels says:

      4 stars
I dunno, I think the whiskey is what makes it good. You could just add more cream next time.

  9. User avatar rich.landlord says:

The almond extract is doing WORK here. I love that subtle marzipan vibe. I’m giving it five stars because it actually tastes like Irish cream should.

  10. User avatar Man Paucek says:

    3 stars
I tried it and it separated after a day in the fridge. Maybe my blender was weak or I didn’t blend long enough. Otherwise it tasted decent.

  11. User avatar vera.hoeger65 says:

Tried this tonight and it actually tastes like the bottle stuff! I used 1 tbsp coffee granules (didn’t measure perfectly) and it still came out rich and smooth. Chilled over ice is dangerously good.

  12. User avatar Charles Darwin says:

    4 stars
Pretty solid, but I might cut back on the whiskey next time. The chocolate syrup + coffee combo is interesting, though—smells like dessert. Easy blender steps too.

    1. 5 stars
Totally agree—cutting back on the whiskey might make it smoother. I like that the chocolate syrup + coffee turns it into more of a dessert vibe than “straight liquor.”

  13. User avatar rickiestmorty says:

    3 stars
I don’t know, guys. Tried it and found it a bit too sweet. Maybe less condensed milk next time?

  14. User avatar demetrius.padberg says:

Yummy! Just made it and it’s sooo good. Perfect for a cozy evening! ☕🍀

  15. User avatar loree.dickinson69 says:

    2 stars
My jar got clogged with chocolate syrup? maybe I didn’t shake it enough. Also I thought “2 tablespoons chocolate syrup” meant chocolate chips?? so I made it too thick. Still, not terrible.

  16. User avatar nada.wisozk13 says:

    3 stars
Tasted good but my blender couldn’t handle it and made a mess. Perhaps a stronger one is needed?

    1. 4 stars
I had the same issue with my blender! I ended up having to mix it by hand. A bit messy, but still delicious!

  20. User avatar joe_banana says:

yum! Just made this and it’s sooo creamy 😋. I added some whipped cream on top too. Perfect!

  21. User avatar mariah.champlin says:

    2 stars
I’m skeptical about using all the ingredients in a blender. Don’t you need to cook it or something? Mine separated after a day, but maybe my jar wasn’t mixed enough.

    1. User avatar lance.friesen13 says:

      2 stars
Wait so you’re just… blending cream with whiskey and not heating anything? Mine kinda separated too, I thought it was ruined. Maybe I didn’t mix long enough, but I still feel like you should cook it first. Or maybe I added the coffee wrong—lol. Anyone else?

    2. User avatar Falmer Shadowmaster says:

      4 stars
Totally fair to be skeptical—cream and condensed milk can look like they’d split. But this one *doesn’t* get cooked; the blender + cold storage is the “fix.” If yours separated after a day, it might’ve needed a longer blend or your bottle wasn’t sealed/was a little warm when you put it in the fridge. Give it another solid 30 seconds high.

Just okay. I think I’m more of a store-bought person. Sorry not sorry.

  30. User avatar smartestRedditor says:

Honestly I’m skeptical—blender + condensed milk and boom, Irish cream? But I tasted it and wow, it actually works. The coffee granules are key.

  31. User avatar Hotblack Desiato says:

    5 stars
Absolutely loved this recipe! Tastes just like the store-bought version but so much better. Will definitely make it again!

  32. User avatar Ford Prefect says:

    3 stars
Idk why people make it—mine turned out kinda thin even after chilling. Maybe my cream was low fat? Still tasted good though, just not as creamy as I hoped.

  33. User avatar Max Power says:

    5 stars
Yummy!! I used coconut cream instead and it’s still awesome!

  34. User avatar Ilban Richese says:

    3 stars
Good enough. But you know, I thought it would be thicker. My blender is old though.

  35. User avatar tissues_with_issues says:

    2 stars
I don’t like coffee, can I leave that out? Seems like it might ruin the flavor.

  36. User avatar juliette.doyle68 says:

    5 stars
    So good. Worth it.

  37. 2 stars
This is way too sweet for my taste. I get the condensed milk thing, but I think the chocolate syrup push it over the edge. Would love a less-sweet version.

  38. User avatar milo.ankunding says:

    3 stars
Isn’t Irish cream supposed to have eggs? I don’t see any eggs in the ingredients. Seems sketchy.

  39. User avatar cyril.nikolaus45 says:

    2 stars
A bit too easy, not much of a challenge. Where’s the fun in that? 🙁

    1. 4 stars
I get what you mean, but sometimes simple recipes are the best! Plus, you can always tweak it to make it more challenging, like adding your own flavors. 😊

    2. User avatar marc.heathcote68 says:

      3 stars
Too easy? It’s all about enjoying the process, not just the challenge! Besides, who doesn’t love a tasty drink? 🥴

I don’t like coffee, so probably won’t make this 😕.

  42. User avatar geoWizard says:

    3 stars
Came out super sweet (maybe my chocolate syrup was sweeter). Next time I’ll cut the condensed milk or use less syrup. But the texture is nice.

    1. User avatar jerold.rogahn83 says:

      4 stars
Mine wasn’t sweet at all… but I used “dark” chocolate syrup, so maybe that’s the key. Also I think 2 tablespoons is a lot. You could try 1 tbsp and taste before you bottle it.

    2. User avatar Mrs. Greg Hoppe says:

      5 stars
Totally makes sense—condensed milk + chocolate syrup can turn it dessert-sweet fast. I’ve had that happen too. Next time try reducing the syrup like you said, or even switch to a less-sweet cocoa/chocolate sauce.

  43. User avatar stewart.kiehn12 says:

    5 stars
So delicious! I made this for a party and it was a hit! Everyone loved it!

  44. User avatar katherin.muller1955 says:

    3 stars
Wait… 1 2/3 cups Irish whiskey in a blender with dairy? That seems like it would curdle. I’m gonna try it anyway but I’m a little nervous, lol.

  45. 4 stars
I made this but I don’t think I blended it long enough. It ended up kinda chunky. Still tasted good tho!

  46. User avatar Rob McKenna says:

    3 stars
Wait, is that Irish whiskey the same as regular whiskey? Not too sure about that…

  47. User avatar ALTplusF4 says:

    1 star
I don’t get the coffee. Ruins it for me. Sorry.

    1. User avatar w00d_ch0p says:

      4 stars
I used to think the same, but the coffee adds a nice kick! Maybe try without it next time? 😅

  48. User avatar aileen.dooley77 says:

    2 stars
Not really a fan of whiskey but this was ok. Maybe I’d try a vodka variant next time?

  49. User avatar tula.hermann says:

    5 stars
Wowowow, I’m gonna drink this all weekend long!

  50. User avatar Lumberjack says:

    3 stars
Is it really safe to mix alcohol and dairy like this? I dunno, sounds risky…

  51. User avatar cleveland.okon95 says:

    3 stars
It tastes okay but way too sweet for me. I might cut the condensed milk next time and use more cream. Also I didn’t have chocolate syrup so I used cocoa powder—different vibes.

  52. User avatar shelby.veum says:

    5 stars
Wow, this is so delicious! Made it for my friends and they loved it. Will definitely make again!

  53. 2 stars
Directions weren’t clear enough. Should’ve said blend until smooth.

    1. 4 stars
I get what you mean! Blending until smooth should’ve been clearer, especially for us beginners. Just a little tweak would help!

  54. User avatar solomon.schamberger31 says:

    2 stars
Not for me. I hate coffee and this was too strong. Should’ve known better…

    1. User avatar bobette.price says:

      4 stars
I totally get it! Coffee isn’t for everyone. Maybe try tweaking the recipe or using less coffee next time?

    2. 2 stars
Who even puts coffee in Irish cream? That’s not right. I’ll pass on this recipe.

  55. User avatar jim.quitzon19 says:

    2 stars
I’m skeptical about the condensed milk + cream ratio. Also, why use Irish whiskey if it’s not really Irish cream? Feels like a booze milk cocktail more than anything.

  56. User avatar Feral Falmer says:

    5 stars
This tastes like the store-bought stuff but way better. I served it over ice cream and everyone went back for more. 10/10 for holiday gifting.

  57. User avatar keri.hane says:

    2 stars
Dunno why you would make this at home when you can just buy it in the store. Seems kinda pointless?

  58. User avatar rashida.becker97 says:

    5 stars
Made this last night—so creamy and actually tastes like the store-bought stuff. I used a decent whiskey and the coffee/chocolate notes really pop. Great as an after-dinner drink!

    1. 5 stars
Glad you nailed it! The coffee/chocolate combo with Irish whiskey is the best part—perfect after-dinner. 🍀

  59. 5 stars
5 stars! This is like drinking dessert! My friends are gonna love this for the holidays.

Ugh. Why do I need instant coffee? I can’t find it anywhere. So confusing!

    1. User avatar vince.legros27 says:

      4 stars
You can skip the instant coffee if you want! Just add more chocolate syrup instead. 😊

    2. User avatar elene.luettgen says:

      3 stars
Instant coffee is just decaf coffee, right? Maybe check online? It’s not that confusing.

  64. User avatar liberal.hero says:

This looks delicious! I can’t wait to try it out for St. Paddy’s day!

  65. User avatar len.stamm42 says:

Super simple and delish! I’ve never blended alcohol before. Thought it’d be gross but it’s a big surprise. 🍀

    1. 5 stars
I’m glad you liked it! Blending the alcohol was a great idea. Can’t wait to try it myself! 🍻

  69. User avatar Su Shenlong says:

    2 stars
Not bad, but I prefer store-bought. It’s got a more complex flavor.

    1. User avatar terrilyn.grady1990 says:

      4 stars
I get what you’re saying, but homemade has that personal touch! Store-bought can be good, but it’s so easy to customize your own flavor here.

    2. 3 stars
But like, it’s just whiskey and cream, right? How complex can it really be? I think it tastes way better when you make it yourself! 😋

  70. User avatar halflife4 says:

    1 star
OMG this is too sweet! I think I added too much chocolate syrup. Will not make again.

  71. User avatar shawn.oreilly16 says:

    3 stars
I think the amounts are off? 1 can condensed milk + 1 cup cream + 1 2/3 cups whiskey seems like a lot of liquid. Mine separated a bit after a day in the fridge. Maybe my blender isn’t strong enough.

  72. User avatar mandie.ledner1973 says:

    4 stars
Pretty solid. I was worried 1 tbsp instant coffee would be too strong but it just adds depth. Mine thickened nicely after chilling. Would make again.

  73. User avatar randolph.yundt says:

    3 stars
Not bad, but the whiskey taste is too strong for me. I added more chocolate syrup, helped a little.

  76. User avatar vito.mosciski says:

Not sure why everyone loves this so much. I found it a bit too sweet for my taste. Maybe I used too much condensed milk? 🤷‍♀️

    1. 4 stars
I thought it was perfectly sweet! Maybe try cutting back on the condensed milk next time. 😋

  77. User avatar eliseo.dicki74 says:

Is this stuff gluten free? Asking for a friend.

  83. 5 stars
Tried this tonight—super creamy and sweet, and the coffee/whiskey combo really makes it taste “real” in a good way. I used dark chocolate syrup and it was perfect. ⭐️

    1. 5 stars
Yes!! The coffee + whiskey combo is the whole magic. Glad the dark chocolate syrup worked for you—mine usually ends up a little sweeter but still great.

  84. User avatar julio.green says:

    4 stars
Solid and easy—just toss everything in the blender and you’re done. I used a cheaper whiskey and it still turned out good, but I could taste the sweetness more than the whiskey.

  85. User avatar yuki.kunze88 says:

    2 stars
Not sure about mixing whiskey with coffee… Sounds strange. I prefer my coffee plain.

  86. User avatar sandra.feeney says:

    3 stars
I love the idea, but 20-30 seconds in a blender doesn’t seem like enough to fully dissolve the coffee granules. Mine had a few specks. Still tasty, just not perfectly smooth.

  87. User avatar reynaldo.mitchell says:

    4 stars
Very easy to make! I just used regular milk instead of cream because I didn’t have any. Still turned out fine!

  88. 3 stars
I’m not sure about the instant coffee granules—mine tasted a little bitter, like coffee-flavored creamer. Next time I’ll reduce it or swap to cocoa powder.

  89. User avatar Brand-shei says:

    3 stars
The instructions are almost too simple? I mean, blender, 30 seconds, done. I guess it works, but I expected more steps. Flavor is okay, not mind-blowing.

  90. User avatar Madam MeowMeow says:

    4 stars
I love quick recipes, but 1 2/3 cups whiskey seems like a lot. The flavor is strong and boozy (in a good way), but next time I might cut it down just a touch.

    1. User avatar wayne.hettinger79 says:

      4 stars
Totally get what you mean—1 2/3 cups is definitely bold. I like it strong, but cutting to like 1 1/3–1 1/2 cups next time sounds perfect if you want a smoother sip.

  91. User avatar shawnda.hintz39 says:

    4 stars
I followed the steps exactly and it’s great, but I used whole milk once instead of heavy cream and it was sad. Heavy cream is not optional here, lol.

    1. User avatar laurel.oconner says:

      3 stars
Wait… I used evaporated milk one time and it was fine, so I’m not sure I believe you “heavy cream is not optional” 😂. Maybe your whole milk batch needed more blending or chilled longer? Mine tasted good either way.

    2. 5 stars
Heavy cream really is the make-or-break ingredient for this one. Whole milk just won’t get the same body—more like a boozy chocolate milk, not Irish cream. Sounds like you learned the hard way 😂

  92. 5 stars
Absolutely loved this recipe! So creamy and delicious. Will make again!

  93. User avatar larue.haag says:

    5 stars
Love it! I added a splash of espresso, and it took it to another level! Highly recommend!

  94. User avatar Princess Ruto says:

    5 stars
Uh… this is dangerously good. Like, I tasted it and then basically didn’t stop. The almond extract is subtle but it does something. 10/10 for parties.

    1. User avatar jess.reichel1982 says:

      5 stars
I feel you 😅 The almond extract is such a sneaky little upgrade. Made this for friends and it disappeared fast. Definitely a party bottle.

    2. User avatar puzzled says:

      3 stars
Wait… I did this but mine tasted kinda boozy and not “creamy” enough. I used vanilla and coffee but maybe I shouldn’t have blended so long? Also, do you let it chill overnight?

  95. User avatar hiram.white17 says:

    5 stars
This is a game changer! I’ve been looking for a good Irish cream recipe, and this one nailed it. So creamy and rich!

  96. User avatar zoraida.monahan says:

    5 stars
Can’t believe it only takes 30 seconds! This is so simple and fun to make!

  97. User avatar bonnie.champlin50 says:

    4 stars
Kinda tastes like boozy hot cocoa. I like it, but next time I’ll cut the sweetened condensed milk just a little because it’s sweet sweet.

  98. User avatar alysia.russel82 says:

    5 stars
So fast and no cooking? Love it. I made it in a blender like you said and it came together in seconds. Will be making again for sure.

    1. User avatar Saruman the White says:

      4 stars
I tried this too and it was super fast… but mine was a little too sweet? Next time I might cut the condensed milk and add a bit more cream. Still, pretty good for zero cooking.

    2. 5 stars
Yes!! The blender step is the best part—easy and actually tastes like the real deal. I love it over ice with a tiny splash of extra whiskey.

Really? I thought it was too strong! Guess it depends on taste. 😅

Best Irish cream I’ve ever had! So much better than the store-bought stuff. Thanks!

My almond extract might have been old? It came out weird for me, like perfume-y. Other than that, the texture was creamy.

  102. User avatar josue.kerluke1972 says:

    2 stars
The almond extract is kinda overpowering—like marzipan vibes. If you’re not an almond person, I’d start with 1/4 tsp. Otherwise it’s decent.

Quick question: is it okay to blend the condensed milk and cream with the instant coffee granules? Mine kind of foamed, but it settled after a few minutes. Maybe that’s normal?

    1. 5 stars
Yep—blending condensed milk, cream, and instant coffee should foam a bit at first. After a few minutes it usually settles once the air bubbles pop. Just keep it to ~20–30 seconds so it stays smooth.

    2. User avatar tissues_with_issues says:

      4 stars
I’ve done this and it foams every time lol. I think it’s normal because the coffee granules add texture + they don’t fully dissolve right away. Let it sit in the fridge a bit before bottling, then shake gently when serving.

  104. User avatar Grunthos the Flatulent says:

    2 stars
I dunno, sounds a bit weird to me. Can I skip the coffee? Not a fan.

  105. User avatar deshawn.ryan says:

I didn’t have chocolate syrup so I used cocoa powder and a little sugar. I think it curdled? Or maybe I blended wrong. Texture was not great, but flavor was okay.

  106. 5 stars
This is the best Irish cream recipe I’ve ever tried! So smooth and delicious!

  107. 4 stars
I made this with rum instead. Totally different taste but still good!

  108. User avatar burl.collins69 says:

    4 stars
I’m not much of a cook, but this was super easy! Even I could make it. Thanks!

  109. User avatar luciano.hettinger says:

    2 stars
I followed it exactly and it tasted… bland? Like coffee-tinged cream. Next time I’ll probably add more vanilla or chocolate. Also, I didn’t have Irish whiskey so I used regular whiskey—maybe that’s why.

    1. User avatar letha.bergstrom says:

      4 stars
Hmm, that sounds disappointing! I’ve found the coffee granules can be really subtle depending on the brand—maybe try adding a tiny extra pinch (or bloom them in a spoon of the cream first). And yeah, without enough vanilla/chocolate it can taste kind of “milky” rather than dessert-y.

    2. User avatar jefferey.roob71 says:

      3 stars
I think the regular whiskey might be it. Irish whiskey tends to be smoother/sweeter, so swapping can make it taste off—more sharp/harsh, less creamy. Also 2 tbsp chocolate syrup is kinda low… I’d do like 1-2 tbsp more next time and maybe more vanilla too.

  110. User avatar louie.donnelly67 says:

    5 stars
This Irish cream recipe is amazing! So easy to make and tastes just like the store-bought kind. I added a pinch of cinnamon for an extra kick. Will definitely be making this again!

  111. User avatar helaine.jones95 says:

    3 stars
Too much whiskey for my liking. I think it’s better if you reduce the amount by half.

  112. User avatar dannette.waelchi48 says:

    5 stars
I made this for a family gathering and it was a huge hit! Everyone wanted the recipe. I actually used half the whiskey and added more cream, turned out delightful!

    1. 5 stars
That sounds amazing! I’ve been looking for a good Irish cream recipe. Will definitely try your tweak with cream. Thanks!

  113. User avatar seth.herzog says:

This is dangerous. I had one small sip over ice and immediately wanted another. My only complaint is it disappears fast.

  114. User avatar bud.jakubowski16 says:

Mine separated a little after a day. I whisked it back together and it was fine, but I’m wondering if blending longer would help. Still delicious though!

  115. User avatar lynsey.goyette says:

    4 stars
Really good, but I’m thinking “instant coffee granules” could mean different things. Mine was a little strong, so I’ll use less next time.

    1. 5 stars
Yeah that’s a good point—instant coffee granules can vary by brand. I’ve used espresso-style granules before and it hit harder than expected, so cutting back like you did makes sense. Also, blending a bit longer can change how “strong” it tastes.

  116. User avatar lucien.frami says:

    4 stars
Tried it as written, pretty good. The coffee and chocolate combo is nice, but mine separated a bit after a day in the fridge—still tasted fine though.

  117. 3 stars
I tried making it, and it turned out a bit too sweet for me. Maybe less condensed milk next time?

    1. User avatar oPandariaNo says:

      3 stars
To sweet? I loved it! But I guess everyone has different tastes. 🤷‍♂️

    2. User avatar robin.williamson says:

      4 stars
I think you’re right! It can definitely get a bit overpowering with the sweetness. Maybe try using less condensed milk like you said or add more coffee granules for a balance!

  118. 4 stars
The almond extract is key! I used a tiny bit extra and it made it taste warmer, like holiday vibes. Love it.

  119. User avatar cody.schaden13 says:

    4 stars
I followed it exactly but I’m not getting any almond vibes. Might be my brand of extract? Could also be the whiskey masking it. Still, it’s a creamy coffee-cocoa drink, so I’m not mad.

  120. User avatar rocco.cremin says:

    5 stars
This is basically a boozy dessert in a jar. I gave it as a gift and everyone asked for the recipe. I do think the chocolate syrup amount is perfect.

OMG this stuff is dangerous! I drank the whole bottle in one night 😂

    1. User avatar minh.heaney says:

    2. User avatar basementDweller says:

Drank a whole bottle? That’s not safe! It’s supposed to be sipped, not chugged! 😳

  122. User avatar jewel.bartell2003 says:

    2 stars
Confusing! Why would anyone put coffee in Irish cream? It’s supposed to be sweet!

  123. User avatar charissa.schmidt says:

    3 stars
Isn’t Irish whiskey super expensive though? I might just stick with cheap vodka.

  124. User avatar ryann.kozey2017 says:

    4 stars
Very easy recipe, only thing I noticed is it’s pretty boozy if you measure the whiskey exactly as written. Still good though—just let it chill longer so it melds.

  125. User avatar basementDweller says:

    5 stars
I made this for St. Patrick’s Day and it tastes way better than store-bought. The coffee + chocolate combo is chef’s kiss. Mine thickened up nicely in the fridge too.

  126. User avatar chase.strosin67 says:

My blender broke halfway through. What do I do now with all the ingredients? Help!

    1. 4 stars
Oh no! You might try mixing it by hand with a whisk. It might take longer but it’ll still come out yummy! Good luck!

    2. User avatar jenee.stiedemann says:

      3 stars
Just throw it all in a bowl and stir. Blending ain’t that important for Irish cream, I guess. You’ll be fine!

  127. User avatar todd.oberbrunner29 says:

    4 stars
Ok, but is it really like the store-bought kind? I wanna know if it’s worth the effort.

  128. 3 stars
Mine turned out a little too boozy and I didn’t love the bitterness from the coffee. Next time I’ll cut the coffee granules or add a splash more chocolate syrup. Still drinkable!

  129. User avatar leontine.gleichner2014 says:

    4 stars
Really easy to throw together. I followed it exactly and it set up nicely in the fridge. Sweet though (I guess that’s the point). Will definitely make again for Christmas.

  130. User avatar tess.casper49 says:

Honestly, I’m skeptical about putting Irish cream in a blender with everything cold. But I tried it and it actually emulsified. Mine is smooth and thick. Nice.

    1. User avatar steve_maga says:

      5 stars
Totally get the skepticism, I thought it’d split too. But yep—once it emulsifies it turns out surprisingly thick. I keep it in the fridge and it stays smooth.

  131. User avatar basementDweller says:

    2 stars
Not sure about the almond extract. It kinda makes it taste like marzipan/old candy to me. Next time I’ll probably cut it in half.

    1. User avatar mitchel.wilderman says:

      5 stars
Totally get that—almond extract can go straight to marzipan vibes. Cutting it in half is probably the sweet spot if you don’t want that old-candy taste.

    2. User avatar nelson.walsh1964 says:

      2 stars
Wait, I use almond extract in my Irish cream too but I add like a whole teaspoon?? Maybe your whiskey was stronger? Either way, 1/2 tsp seems fine—marzipan is usually too sweet though.

  132. User avatar anglea.kirlin says:

    5 stars
I was skeptical about blender + 20 seconds, but wow. The texture is creamy and not grainy. I added extra chocolate syrup and it made it even more dessert-y.

  133. User avatar tissues_with_issues says:

    5 stars
This is the BEST Irish cream recipe ever!! So creamy and delicious. I love it in my coffee!

  134. User avatar cathrine.schmitt says:

I thought it was too sweet. Maybe less condensed milk next time?

  135. User avatar Magrathean sperm whale says:

    5 stars
Don’t listen to the haters—this tastes legit. Blend 30 seconds like the instructions say and it emulsifies way better. I used Ghirardelli chocolate syrup and it was amazing.

  136. User avatar Siona Atreides says:

    3 stars
I tried to make this, but I think I mixed up the whiskey with rum. Oops! Still tasted okay, I guess.

  137. User avatar alicia.daugherty1950 says:

    Yum!!!

  138. User avatar Dan Streetmentioner says:

    5 stars
So easy! I tossed everything in the blender and it came out creamy and sweet like the store-bought stuff. I added a tiny pinch of salt and it tasted even more “grown up.”

    1. User avatar Sand-Dial says:

      5 stars
That’s awesome—20–30 seconds in a blender sounds way too easy (in a good way). Do you think it gets thicker after chilling, or is it pretty much the same right away?

  139. User avatar Great Fairy says:

    5 stars
Tried this tonight—surprisingly smooth and creamy. The instant coffee really makes the chocolate flavor pop. I used 3/4 cup whiskey because I’m cautious, but it still tasted legit.

    1. User avatar richelle.herman says:

      5 stars
Glad it worked for you! I always do the same thing with the coffee—way better chocolate depth. 3/4 cup whiskey sounds cautious but still “legit” is exactly what I want 😄

  140. User avatar franklyn.lockman2025 says:

    5 stars
I’m not sure about the 2/3 cup whiskey? I accidentally used 1 cup instead and it was dangerously good 😅 Next time I’ll measure like a responsible adult.

    1. User avatar shane.cummerata1981 says:

      5 stars
Lol same—once I poured “a splash” and ended up with a dangerously smooth batch 😅 I’d say start with 2/3 cup if you want it classic, but 1 cup is basically dessert with a kick.

  141. User avatar deshawn.leuschke says:

    4 stars
Mine tasted weirdly flat until I chilled it overnight. After that it finally mellowed out. So yeah, timing matters.

  142. User avatar rich.landlord says:

    4 stars
Really good but too sweet! Next time, I’ll cut down on the condensed milk.

  143. User avatar devon.corkery34 says:

My blender couldn’t fully mix the chocolate syrup, so it left streaks. Still tasted fine, just not as pretty. Maybe warm the syrup first?

    1. User avatar suspiciousCommentator says:

      3 stars
Mine did the same thing but I just didn’t care 😅 I shook it hard before serving and the streaks mostly disappeared. Maybe my blender’s weak though. Are you sure it’s only the syrup and not the coffee granules?

    2. User avatar clifford.spinka87 says:

      5 stars
Good call on warming it a bit. I’ve had that happen with thicker syrups—if you warm the chocolate syrup for like 10-15 seconds first, it blends way smoother. Also try blending a little longer or scraping the sides once.

  144. 4 stars
Not gonna lie, 1 2/3 cups whiskey feels like a lot—like strong. I made it half that amount and it was perfect for my taste. Recipe still worked.

    1. 5 stars
Totally get what you mean—1 2/3 cups is pretty boozy. Glad halving it worked out for you!

  145. User avatar marcelino.ebert says:

I don’t know… it seems like a lot of ingredients. Too complicated for me.

  146. User avatar nestor.tremblay2020 says:

    2 stars
Meh, I thought it would be better. Just tasted like a regular drink to me.

  147. User avatar stewart.doyle75 says:

    5 stars
This is dangerously easy—didn’t even bother with fancy steps, just blended and chilled. Tastes like dessert coffee in a glass. 👍

    1. User avatar lyndia.smitham64 says:

      5 stars
Right?! I was expecting some complicated tempering or whatever, but nope—just blend, chill, and it’s done. That dessert-coffee vibe is *exactly* what I got too 👍

    2. User avatar Dr. Willy Kozey says:

      3 stars
I tried it and it tasted good, but “Irish” cream needs more creaminess? Mine was kinda thin, maybe my condensed milk was old. Also does the whiskey need to be Irish whiskey specifically or can I use regular? 🤔

  148. 5 stars
I was skeptical about the instant coffee granules, but they actually add depth. Not bitter, just richer. Great recipe, easy too.

    1. User avatar edward.thiel says:

      5 stars
Totally agree—those instant coffee granules can seem sketchy at first, but they really round out the flavor without making it taste bitter. Thanks for the heads-up!

  149. 4 stars
Made it last weekend and it set up nicely in the fridge. The coffee + vanilla combo is perfect. Only thing: I used regular whiskey and it was a little sharp, so I’d splurge on a smoother Irish whiskey.

  150. User avatar Noble Pfeffer says:

    3 stars
Not gonna lie, the almond extract + whiskey gave me a weird candy vibe. I know almond is classic, but I think 1/2 tsp might be too much. Half it? Maybe.
