Frozen Mango Margarita

July 22, 2025

Frozen Mango Margarita is the ultimate sun-soaked cocktail that feels like a tropical vacation in a glass. With its bright golden hue, smooth icy texture, and perfect balance of sweet mango and tangy lime, this frozen drink is a warm-weather staple, and it’s easier to make than you might think.

It all starts with ripe mango. You can use fresh mango chunks if you’ve got them, but frozen mango works just as well and saves prep time (plus helps give that frosty texture without watering it down with too much ice). Blend it with freshly squeezed lime juice, a splash of orange liqueur like triple sec or Cointreau, and a generous pour of good tequila, silver or reposado both work, depending on your flavor preference.

What makes the frozen version stand out is its slushy consistency. A handful of ice cubes brings it all together in the blender until it’s thick, smooth, and spoon-worthy. You want something that’s sippable but not too runny, think frozen daiquiri or soft sorbet texture.

The final touch? A salted rim. It’s a simple detail that balances the sweetness of the mango and adds a little sophistication. Just run a lime wedge around the edge of your glass, dip it in flaky salt, and you’ve got a margarita that looks as good as it tastes. Garnish with a slice of lime or a wedge of mango if you’re feeling fancy.

This frozen mango margarita is perfect for poolside lounging, backyard BBQs, taco nights, or any time you want to shake up a fun, fruity cocktail. You can even skip the alcohol and make a mocktail version with orange juice or sparkling water for a refreshing non-alcoholic twist.

Whether you’re celebrating something special or just trying to cool down, this icy cocktail is a guaranteed mood-lifter.

Sounds like your blender might be on its last legs! I use a high-powered one for this kind of stuff, and it works like a charm. You could always try letting the ice sit out for a bit to soften it.

I think I prefer regular margaritas. This one didn’t do it for me.

So refreshing! The frozen mango really smooths out the tequila bite. I added a touch more syrup and it tasted like a proper vacation drink.

    1. User avatar gianna.kunde44 says:

Huh, I tried something similar but mine stayed kinda chunky. Maybe I didn’t blend long enough or my mango wasn’t sweet enough. Still good though!

Yes! The frozen mango really takes the edge off the tequila. I always add a little extra syrup too—perfect vacation vibes. 🌴

Way too sweet for my taste. I would cut down on the syrup next time.

My blender struggled because I think my mango was too chunky. I had to add a splash of water to get it creamy. Still tasty though.

  22. User avatar kirby.ernser12 says:

Why do people use ice cubes in a blender margarita? I did and it watered it down. Also my mango wasn’t that sweet, so I had to dump in extra syrup. Could just be my fruit though.

    1. 4 stars
Ice cubes help chill it fast and give that “frozen” texture, but yeah—if your mango isn’t sweet and you already have less fruit flavor, it can feel watered down. I usually use less ice or blend it longer with plenty of mango.

    2. 3 stars
Maybe you just got not-ripe mango 😅. I’ve never had it watered down much—ice should kinda disappear in the blender. But if you dump a ton of ice and your fruit is bland, you’ll definitely want more syrup. Next time try extra frozen mango instead of more syrup.

  23. User avatar chinchilla says:

    5 stars
OMG this was a hit at my party! Everyone loved it. Will make again!

  24. User avatar thaddeus.lehner18 says:

Looks simple but mangoes are not in season, any subs?

    1. 5 stars
You could try using frozen peaches or pineapple instead. They’ll give a nice tropical twist!

  25. User avatar jamika.gutmann says:

    3 stars
not really a fan of tequila, but this was okay I guess.

  26. 5 stars
This is the best margarita I’ve ever made! So refreshing and easy. Thanks!

  27. 4 stars
Can you use fresh mango? Cuz I don’t have frozen. Thx

    1. User avatar van.nolan1969 says:

      4 stars
Yeah, fresh mango should work fine! Just make sure to freeze it before blending if you want it icy. Enjoy!

    2. User avatar hilaria.herzog34 says:

      2 stars
I dunno, fresh mango might not give the same texture. Isn’t the whole point to have it cold?

  28. User avatar sherry.wolf85 says:

    4 stars
Good recipe but easy to mess up if you don’t measure right. I added too much tequila lol.

  29. User avatar henry.wunsch15 says:

I don’t drink alcohol, but this looks yummy! Maybe I’ll try it with soda instead.

  30. User avatar moses.baumbach1971 says:

    5 stars
I can’t drink alcohol anymore, so I made a mocktail version. Just used mango juice and it was great!

    1. 3 stars
But like, without the tequila it’s just juice, right? Is that really a margarita?

    2. User avatar romeo.schultz says:

      5 stars
Sounds delicious! I love mango juice. Great idea with the mocktail!

  31. User avatar michel.stanton74 says:

I thought it would be too sweet but it was perfect. I added a bit of jalapeno for kick. 🔥

    1. User avatar Isabel Beahan says:

      5 stars
I never thought about adding jalapeno! That sounds fire!🔥 I’m definitely trying that next time!

Totally agree! These are so refreshing! 🍹

  33. User avatar eufemia.bode56 says:

    5 stars
Tried this tonight—so refreshing. The frozen mango really makes it taste like a treat instead of just a basic margarita. Rimming with salt was perfect.

  34. User avatar winona.spinka says:

    4 stars
    Margarita good! Happy drink! 🍹

  35. User avatar junior.satterfield says:

    3 stars
The instructions say tequila + triple sec + lime juice, but mine tasted a bit sharp. I think I needed more mango or less lime. Would adjust next time.

  36. User avatar joannie.abbott1964 says:

    4 stars
Good recipe, but next time I’m using way more lime juice! 🍋

  37. User avatar Mr. Prosser says:

    4 stars
The tequila amount feels off? Like 2 oz tequila + 1 oz triple sec seems strong. I guess that’s why it hits. I enjoyed it, though it’s definitely not a mild drink.

    1. User avatar issac.ruecker62 says:

      4 stars
I agree it’s not “mild” 😂 I used 1800 blanco and it still hits. Next time I’ll maybe cut the triple sec down to 3/4 oz if I want it sweeter and less boozy.

    2. User avatar Candy Hackett says:

      5 stars
Yeah, that ratio is definitely punchy. 2 oz tequila + 1 oz triple sec will feel pretty bold, especially once it’s all blended and chilled.

  38. User avatar byron.christiansen says:

    3 stars
I dunno about the triple sec, could be too sweet. I prefer mine with just tequila! 🤔

  39. User avatar nicolette.bosco says:

    2 stars
This is way too sweet for me even with minimal syrup. Like dessert in a glass. Could use less triple sec maybe.

    1. 3 stars
Yeah, I agree—mine felt dessert-y too. Next time I’ll cut the triple sec in half and skip the simple syrup unless my limes are super tart.

  40. User avatar Lenard Fadel says:

    2 stars
Why use frozen mango? Isn’t that fake? I just use fresh. 🤷‍♂️

  41. 4 stars
My blender struggled a little with the frozen mango + ice combo, so I had to blend longer. Still turned out good though—bright lime and good balance.

  42. User avatar brandie.russel19 says:

    3 stars
Margaritas are overrated… but this one is okay I guess.

    1. User avatar thomasine.macejkovic52 says:

      4 stars
I totally agree! Margaritas just don’t hit the spot for me either. But I have to admit, frozen mango sounds tempting!

  43. User avatar spencer.maggio says:

    1 star
LOL, I added too much lime juice and my face was like 😝. Don’t do that!

  44. User avatar Ilban Richese says:

    4 stars
Not gonna lie, mine separated a bit after I poured it (maybe my blender is weak). Still tasty though—sweet, cold, and refreshing. Would make again if I serve immediately like the directions say.

    1. 4 stars
Mine did that too—like it wasn’t totally smooth after blending. I ended up blending a little longer and using smaller ice pieces, and it came out way creamier. Still delicious though!

    2. User avatar paul.frami2 says:

      3 stars
I think the separation is just because the ice melts faster than the mango blends. I’d add a splash more lime juice? Or less tequila? Idk, mine never lasts long enough to separate 😅

  45. 3 stars
Not gonna lie, I didn’t rim with salt because I was lazy. It was still good, but maybe less “margarita” vibe.

    1. 3 stars
If you didn’t rim it, it’s kinda just a frozen mango daiquiri? I mean it’s still tasty, but without salt you lose the whole point of a margarita. Next time, salt the rim—should take like 10 seconds.

    2. User avatar alfredia.paucek93 says:

      4 stars
Lol I do the same thing sometimes—lazy rim club 😅 Still, I totally get what you mean. The salt really helps the “margarita” vibe with that salty-sour-sweet balance.

  46. User avatar Ellie Noise says:

    3 stars
I like margaritas, but 1 cup ice + frozen mango might be too thick. Mine turned into more of a smoothie than a drink.

  47. User avatar Lillian Raynor says:

    5 stars
Yum! I added a bit of chili powder to the rim and it was bomb! 🔥

    1. User avatar neal.collins says:

      4 stars
Chili powder? That’s an interesting twist! I usually go for just salt, but now I wanna try it your way! 🍹

  48. 4 stars
I didn’t have triple sec, so I grabbed Cointreau. Results were great, but I’m not sure if that counts as cheating 😅

  49. User avatar shane.ziemann2025 says:

    3 stars
Kinda weak on the alcohol side, should I add more tequila? Or is that just me?

    1. User avatar Gaius Helen Mohiam says:

      5 stars
Yeah, more tequila sounds good! I like mine strong. Cheers!

  50. 5 stars
Margarit…margarit…what’s the drink called? Oh well, it’s still good!

    1. User avatar quinton.hayes41 says:

      5 stars
Haha, I think you mean margarita! It’s super refreshing. 🍹

    2. User avatar Samwise Gamgee says:

      3 stars
I dunno, mangos are alright but I like my drinks with more pizzazz. Maybe try adding some chili powder next time!

  51. User avatar rex.kirlin27 says:

    3 stars
Margaritas are overrated anyway, but this is alright!

  52. 5 stars
This is honestly better than the frozen margaritas I get out. Simple ingredients, tastes real. I added a tiny pinch of chili powder just for fun.

  53. User avatar joseph.price1950 says:

    4 stars
Tried it with reposado tequila instead of silver and it was still really good—more vanilla-y. Next time I’ll use freshly squeezed lime again because the bottled juice made it taste a little flat.

    1. User avatar ShanksOnePiece says:

      4 stars
I used bottled lime once and it was just… sad? Next time I’m doing freshly squeezed. Also I might swap the salt for sugar on the rim, we’ll see 😂

    2. User avatar wellRespected says:

      5 stars
Ooh reposado makes sense—more vanilla notes from the oak. Glad it still worked! Fresh lime is definitely the move; bottled juice can be kinda dull.

  54. User avatar rich.landlord says:

    4 stars
Quick and easy! Made it for a party and it was a hit! Thanks!

    1. User avatar Loonquawl and Phouchg says:

So glad it was a hit! Perfect for summer parties!

  55. 5 stars
Yasss! Perfect for summer days! Gonna make it again asap! 🍹

  56. User avatar joella.deckow40 says:

    4 stars
Easy recipe. Blend, rim, done. My blender struggled for a second until I let it run longer—then it was silky.

    1. User avatar forrest.leffler says:

      4 stars
Easy, but I’m not sure about “simple syrup” like… how much is 1 tbsp really? I added a bit more and it’s still kinda tangy. Next time I’ll measure more carefully.

    2. User avatar cedrick.adams40 says:

      5 stars
Totally agree—mine needed an extra few seconds too, but once I let it go it turned out super smooth. Rimming with salt was the perfect touch.

  57. User avatar britteny.howe says:

    4 stars
Not gonna lie, I was skeptical about fruit + tequila but it works. My glass was a little messy with salt, so maybe let the rim get tacky first.

  58. 3 stars
To be honest, I don’t like mango. Can I use strawberries? Or is that sacrilege? 😂

  59. User avatar Yanira Huel says:

    5 stars
Delicious! This recipe is a hit at my summer parties!! 🍹

  60. User avatar randolph.mcclure27 says:

    2 stars
I only had dark tequila and it definitely changed the flavor—more smoky. I guess the recipe said silver for a reason.
