Cranberry Martinis

November 27, 2024

Cranberry martinis are a festive and refreshing cocktail that adds a touch of elegance to any occasion, especially during the holiday season. This vibrant drink combines the tartness of fresh cranberries with the smoothness of vodka, creating a perfectly balanced cocktail that’s both sweet and tangy. Whether you’re hosting a holiday party or just looking to enjoy a sophisticated drink, cranberry martinis are sure to impress.

To make cranberry martinis, start by preparing cranberry syrup or using cranberry juice. If you prefer a fresher, homemade touch, simmer fresh cranberries with sugar and water until the berries burst and the mixture thickens into a syrup. Alternatively, cranberry juice can be used for a quicker version of the cocktail.

In a cocktail shaker, combine vodka, cranberry syrup (or juice), and a splash of fresh lime juice for some added acidity. Shake vigorously with ice until well chilled. For an extra layer of flavor, you can also add a dash of orange liqueur like Cointreau or Triple Sec, which complements the tart cranberries nicely.

Strain the mixture into a chilled martini glass and garnish with a few fresh cranberries or a twist of lime zest. For a festive touch, you can even rim the glass with sugar or salt to add a bit of sweetness with each sip.

Cranberry martinis are perfect for any celebration, from Thanksgiving to New Year’s Eve, but they’re also a great choice for a cozy evening with friends. The bright, fruity flavors and smooth vodka make it a delightful drink that’s both refreshing and indulgent.

For a twist, try adding a splash of sparkling water or club soda for a bubbly, lighter version of the cocktail. This will give it a refreshing effervescence while still keeping that lovely cranberry flavor.

Cranberry martinis are a beautiful, festive drink that brings a touch of holiday spirit to any gathering, offering a sweet and tangy kick with every sip.

Why would you mix cranberry juice with vodka? Seems weird. Don’t see the point.

Not what I expected. The lime juice is overpowering. I might try less next time.

    1. 2 stars
I dunno, but sounds like a weird drink lol. I add more vodka to mine, makes it better!

    2. 4 stars
I actually love the lime juice! It’s such a refreshing kick. Maybe try balancing it with more cranberry juice?

  9. 2 stars
This is just juice, right? Not really a cocktail lol.

  10. User avatar rosa.price says:

I used store-bought lime juice because I was lazy—big mistake. Way less fresh flavor. Still drinkable though. Will try again with fresh limes.

    1. 5 stars
Totally agree—fresh lime makes a huge difference in a martini. Store-bought lime juice can taste kinda flat/chemical. Next time you’ll notice it right away.

    2. User avatar yellowjacket says:

      3 stars
I mean… if it’s still drinkable, you didn’t do THAT bad 😅 I usually just use the bottled lime stuff and add a tiny bit more triple sec for balance. Maybe try that?

  11. User avatar lloyd.gulgowski80 says:

    3 stars
I thought it was too strong. Maybe less vodka next time?

  12. 4 stars
I forgot the lime juice and it was still kinda good. Guess that means it’s a solid recipe!

    1. User avatar mitchel.macgyver4 says:

      4 stars
Glad you liked it even without the lime! I usually think of lime juice as necessary tho.

  13. User avatar Adolph Wintheiser says:

    2 stars
Way too tart for me! Maybe add some sugar next time? Just not my thing.

    1. 4 stars
I actually love the tartness! It really makes the drink refreshing. But I guess everyone’s taste is different.

    2. User avatar joan.brakus says:

      2 stars
Sugar? I thought we are tryin to be healthy. Cranberry is supposed to be sour, that’s the whole point! 🤷‍♂️

  14. User avatar travis.emmerich says:

    2 stars
Too much lime for my taste. I like it sweet, not sour! 2 out of 5.

  15. User avatar gina.bogisich12 says:

    2 stars
I dunno, not a fan of drinks with fruit. Glorified juice, lol.

  16. 4 stars
Easy recipe and tastes divine! Used lime juice from a bottle tho, lol.

  17. 2 stars
Too tart for my liking. I added some sugar but still couldn’t get it right.

  18. 4 stars
I added a splash of orange juice. Made it even better! 🍊

    1. User avatar rhoda.gerlach says:

      5 stars
Sounds delicious! I gotta try that next time. 🍹

  19. 5 stars
I love a martini that actually tastes like something. The lime really brightens it and the triple sec rounds it out. Would make again.

Best drink ever! But does anyone else think cranberries are weird?? Like, who eats them straight?

    1. User avatar Dremora Lord says:

      2 stars
I dunno, man. Cranberries are just berry. They’re fine, but don’t be eatin’ them without sugar! Like, nobody does that.

    2. User avatar lavada.casper says:

      4 stars
Cranberries are great in drinks! But yeah, eating them raw is a bit much for me. 😂

  21. User avatar andreas.bosco80 says:

Cranberry juice tastes bad to me. Would orange juice work instead?

    1. 3 stars
Orange juice? I guess you could try it, but it won’t be the same. Cranberry is kinda key for that tart flavor. 🤷‍♂️

  22. 1 star
I used orange juice instead of cranberry. Not good… 🤮

  23. 5 stars
Tastes super refreshing—like tart but balanced. I used Cointreau and it felt extra “real” as a martini. Will make again for sure.

  24. 5 stars
5 stars because it’s fast and pretty. I garnished with lime and it looked fancy even though I’m not fancy 😂

I totally agree! This recipe has got that holiday vibe going on. Can’t wait to make it for my family gatherings!

I thought martinis were only gin. Is vodka martini even a thing? 🤔

    1. User avatar Vladimir Harkonnen says:

      5 stars
Yes, vodka martinis are definitely a thing! They’re just as popular as gin ones. You can customize them to your taste! 🍸

  31. 5 stars
Martinis are always a must-have! Thanks for sharing!

Best cranberry martini ever! Will make it again for sure! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

  34. User avatar Frost Troll says:

    2 stars
meh. cranberry just takes over—i dunno. Shake was fun but flavor not for me.

    1. User avatar elbert.kuhlman90 says:

      4 stars
Totally get that—cranberry can be overpowering. I’ve found using a lighter hand on the cranberry (or a sweeter OJ mix) helps the lime and triple sec come through more.

    2. 3 stars
Maybe you used the wrong kind of cranberry juice? Unsweetened can taste super tart and punchy… like, way too much. I’d try sweetened or even cranberry + a splash of soda next time.

  35. User avatar louisa.moen1955 says:

    3 stars
I think the recipe is missing some sweetness. Maybe add a little more juice or sugar? Not my favorite. 3/5.

  36. User avatar MAGA2024.Trumpster says:

    1 star
Meh. I think cranberry juice needs sugar or the whole thing tastes like juice at the dentist. No offense, but I wouldn’t make again.

  37. 5 stars
Absolutely loved this recipe! Perfect for my girls’ night. Cheers!

  38. User avatar julie.swaniawski1993 says:

    3 stars
Are we sure that’s how you make a martini? I thought it used gin. 🤔 3 stars.

    1. User avatar Tommy Smitham DDS says:

      5 stars
Who cares if it ain’t gin? Vodka is way smoother! Way better than old-school gin. Trust me!

    2. User avatar terrance.johns1 says:

      4 stars
Actually, this is a cranberry martini, which is different! Classic martinis do use gin. But this looks fun! 🍹

Quick and easy recipe! Great alternative to the classic martini.

  41. 3 stars
These are so good! But why not just buy them at the bar? A. Lot. Easier.

  42. 3 stars
I accidentally used orange juice instead of cranberry, but it was still good.

  43. User avatar marcela.buckridge1972 says:

    2 stars
Meh. I prefer my cranberry cocktails sweeter. This one punches hard with the lime and unsweetened juice. Still, shaking it makes it smoother.

  44. 2 stars
Why do you have to strain it? Can’t I just pour it straight from the shaker? 🤷‍♂️

    1. 2 stars
I dunno, seems like too much fuss. Drinks are for enjoying, not straining! Just pour it!

    2. 5 stars
Straining removes any ice shards and gives you a smooth drink! Trust me, it makes a big difference.

  45. User avatar Trin Tragula says:

    3 stars
I don’t even know what triple sec is. Can I just use orange soda instead? LOL

    1. User avatar lita.dach47 says:

      4 stars
Haha, orange soda would definitely change the taste! But if you want to give it a try, go for it! Just don’t expect a martini taste! 🤣

  46. User avatar luke.langosh1986 says:

    5 stars
This recipe is fantastic! The balance of tartness and sweetness is spot on. Definitely a new favorite.

  47. User avatar tonya.donnelly64 says:

    5 stars
So refreshing! The lime really brightens it and the cranberry + orange balance is on point. I used regular cranberry juice and it still tasted great.

  48. User avatar clarisa.okeefe2002 says:

I don’t understand how people can drink this stuff. Tastes like medicine to me. 1 star.

    1. 4 stars
I actually love cranberry martinis! They can be a bit tart but that’s what makes them refreshing. Maybe try it with a little more triple sec for sweetness?

  49. User avatar Falmer Spellsword says:

    5 stars
Delicious and super easy to make! I loved it!

  50. User avatar Goku Black says:

    4 stars
Pretty good balance, I used fresh cranberry juice from a bottle and it still came out tart (in a good way). Next time I might add a tiny bit more triple sec.

  51. User avatar porter.cartwright says:

    2 stars
I made this with cheap vodka and it was terrible. Yuck!

    1. 4 stars
Maybe try a better quality vodka next time? It makes a big difference!

  52. User avatar Prostetnic Vogon Kwaltz says:

    4 stars
I followed the ratios exactly and it came out tart in a good way. Shaking until the shaker is properly cold is key—don’t rush it.

  53. User avatar kellie.lubowitz95 says:

    4 stars
I enjoyed it, but I think I would like more cranberry flavor. Maybe double the juice?

  54. User avatar houston.fahey16 says:

    3 stars
Confession: I used sweetened cranberry juice instead of unsweetened. It was still tasty but way sweeter—so yeah, follow it or expect different results.

    1. User avatar matilde.hammes9 says:

      3 stars
Wait… sweetened cranberry juice? That’s basically like drinking dessert 😂 Still, good to know. I’d rather just add a tiny bit less sugar than mess with the whole recipe.

    2. User avatar marth.beatty57 says:

      5 stars
Thanks for the heads-up! I’ve definitely swapped things like that before and wondered why it tasted off. Next time I’ll hunt down unsweetened cranberry juice.

  55. User avatar gary.kovacek37 says:

    4 stars
I tried this but ended up using sweet cranberry juice by accident. Still tasty tho!

This is the best martini I’ve ever made! The cranberry juice gives it a perfect touch. 5 stars!

  57. 5 stars
