There’s something effortlessly elegant about a galette. Rustic and free-form, it doesn’t try to be perfect, yet always manages to impress. The chocolate raspberry galette is a beautiful twist on this classic French pastry. It brings together rich, velvety chocolate and vibrant, tart raspberries in a flaky, golden crust that’s as inviting as it is delicious.
What sets this dessert apart is its balance of flavors. The raspberries bring a bright, slightly tangy note that cuts through the richness of the chocolate, making each bite both refreshing and indulgent. The crust is crisp and buttery, folding gently over the filling like a cozy blanket. It browns beautifully in the oven and gives the galette a gorgeous, golden finish.
One of the best things about making a galette is how forgiving it is. Unlike traditional pies that require careful crimping and precise shaping, a galette welcomes imperfections. Simply roll out the dough, pile the filling in the center, and fold the edges over. It bakes into a showstopper with minimal fuss.
This chocolate raspberry galette works beautifully for any occasion. Serve it warm for a comforting treat after dinner, or let it cool and bring it to a brunch or picnic. Add a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream for a little extra decadence. The contrast between the warm, gooey center and the cool, creamy topping is irresistible.
If you’re feeling adventurous, you can experiment with different chocolates. Dark chocolate gives it a deep, intense flavor, while milk chocolate keeps things lighter and sweeter. You can also throw in a few sliced almonds or a sprinkle of sea salt to enhance the flavor even more.
At its heart, this galette is a celebration of simple ingredients coming together in the most satisfying way. It’s not about perfection, but about flavor, comfort, and joy. Whether you’re baking for yourself or sharing it with others, the chocolate raspberry galette is a dessert that feels both casual and special at the same time.

Ingredients
- 1 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup cocoa powder unsweetened
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter cold and cut into small pieces
- 2 tbsp ice water
- 1 cup raspberries fresh
- 3 ounces bittersweet chocolate chopped
- 2 tbsp powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, sugar, and salt.
- Add the cold butter to the bowl and use your fingers or a pastry cutter to cut it into the dry ingredients until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Gradually add the ice water, a tablespoon at a time, and mix until the dough comes together. Shape the dough into a disk, wrap it in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Roll out the chilled dough on a lightly floured surface to a circle about 12 inches in diameter. Transfer the dough to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Sprinkle the chopped chocolate over the center of the dough, leaving a 2-inch border around the edges. Top the chocolate with the raspberries.
- Fold the edges of the dough over the filling, pleating as necessary. Press gently to seal any cracks.
- Bake the galette in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown.
- Remove from the oven and allow to cool for a few minutes. Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
Yum! Just made it and it was sooo good! The best dessert I’ve ever baked! 😋
So glad to hear you loved it! This galette is definitely a winner! 🥳
I mean, it’s just a pie with chocolate and berries, right? 😂
How can you bake this at 400°F? That seems way too hot for pastry. 🤔
Just okay for me. I think I prefer store-bought desserts. 😕
Yum! I added some almonds too. It gave a nice crunch! Highly recommend. 😍
I didn’t have raspberries so I used strawberries, still delicious! 😋
Strawberries? Really? That’s a bit odd for a raspberry recipe. But I guess if you liked it, that’s all that matters! 🤷♂️
Raspberry and chocolate? Ugh, no thanks. I’m more of a vanilla person.
Absolutely delicious! I tried this last night and my family loved it!
So glad to hear that! This recipe is a real crowd-pleaser! 😍
Next time, I’ll add whipped cream on the sides. It needs somethin’ else.
Whipped cream sounds yum! Gonna try that next time for sure.
So good. But why does it have to look so fancy? I barely folded it right. Haha. Still ate it all tho.
I feel you! Sometimes, the fancy stuff just makes it harder. But it’s all about the taste, right? Glad you enjoyed it!
Fancy? Pshh, looks dont matter, I just throw stuff together. Bet it still tasted amaze tho!
I was skeptical at first, but this turned out great! My family loved it.
I’m glad it turned out well for you! I was worried it would be too complicated.
I don’t trust recipes with cocoa. They’re usually too rich, but I tried it and wow!! Surprise!
Choclate galette? Sounds fancy! Can I put strawberries instead?
Strawberries would be yummy! I think it can work. Just add some sugar to them if they’re tart.
Nah, strawberries don’t go with chocolate like raspberries do. Stick to the recipe!
Tastes amazing but I burnt the edges. 😭 Still ate it all!
I don’t get it. What’s a galette? Looks like a pie to me.
Looks fancy but I found it kinda easy to make. Just follow the steps!
I really think that looks tough! I could never make something like that. Kudos to you for saying it’s easy!
Not what I expected. The dough was too crumbly. I think I messed up an ingredient. 🤨
Made this with my kids! Super fun, but messy kitchen. Worth it tho!
Sounds like a blast! Cooking with kids is always fun, even if it gets messy. 😄
This galette was AMAZING! I’m so glad I tried it! 🍫❤️
So happy you loved it! 🍫 Raspberries and chocolate are the best combo! Can’t wait to make it myself! 😍
Why is it called a galette? Is that fancy French? Just call it a pie, lol.
This is a keeper! My friends loved it! Also, I added vanilla ice cream on top. 🍨
I have no idea what a galette is, but this one looks cool. Gonna try it soon!
I don’t think this needs chocolate. You could just do plain raspberries and it’d be better. 🤷♂️
Too complicated! I thought it would be easier. Who has time to chill dough? I just want something quick.
Chill dough? That seems unnecessary. You could just use store-bought dough if you’re in a hurry. It’ll save a lot of time!
I get it! Some recipes are just too much work. You can try making a simple chocolate cake instead. No chilling dough required!
Chocolate and raspberries, a classic combo! But can somebody tell me why it didn’t turn out as pretty as the picture? LOL
Too much chocolate if you ask me. Didn’t taste the raspberries at all. I’ll stick to pie.
I actually loved the chocolatey-ness! Maybe you could try adding more raspberries next time? 😊
Seems like you might not be a chocoholic! But galette is still yum. What’s wrong with too much chocolate? 🤔
I tried it but my dough fell apart… my bad? Too much butter? I don’t know. But it tasted good, even if it looked like a mess.
Followed the recipe exactly, yet my dough was a hot mess! How do people make it look so easy? 🤦♂️
This is the best dessert I’ve ever made! So easy and delicious!
Yummy! But i added more sugar because I like it sweet. 😊
More sugar? That’s brave! I thought it was sweet enough already, but different strokes, right? 😄
Delish! The chocolate and raspberries go so well together. Will make again!
This was amazing! So easy to follow and the chocolate and raspberries were a perfect match!
I tried it but it was too crumbly! What did I do wrong?
Honestly, I wasn’t sure about the cocoa in the pastry. It sounded weird, but it turned out delicious! I’ll be sharing this with friends.
So glad you liked it! Cocoa in pastry is a game-changer. Can’t wait for my friends to try it too!
This was a disaster! The dough didn’t come together at all. Waste of ingredients!
Didn’t have raspberries, so I used blueberries. It still turned out pretty good!
Blueberries are a great substitute! I bet it tasted awesome. Nice job!
