Chicken and Bacon Sandwich

May 7, 2024

There are few combinations more satisfying than the classic pairing of chicken and bacon. Whether you’re craving a hearty lunch or a quick dinner, the Chicken and Bacon Sandwich is the ultimate comfort food, offering the perfect balance of flavors and textures in every bite.

The beauty of this sandwich lies in its simplicity. Juicy, tender grilled chicken takes center stage, seasoned just right to bring out its natural flavors. Add crispy, smoky bacon to the mix, and you’ve got a winning combination that’s both rich and satisfying. The bacon provides a delightful crunch, while the chicken offers a juicy, meaty bite that pairs perfectly with the other ingredients.

To make this sandwich truly memorable, the bread plays a crucial role. A soft, slightly toasted bun is ideal for holding everything together without overwhelming the other ingredients. You can use classic sandwich bread, a brioche bun, or even a baguette for a little extra crunch.

Fresh, crisp veggies like lettuce, tomatoes, and onions bring a refreshing contrast to the rich meat, while condiments like mayo, mustard, or a tangy barbecue sauce add an extra layer of flavor. You can even throw in a slice of cheese for that melt-in-your-mouth experience, taking your sandwich to the next level.

The Chicken and Bacon Sandwich is perfect for any occasion. It’s simple enough for a quick meal yet satisfying enough to serve at a family gathering or picnic. The beauty of this sandwich is in its versatility – you can customize it with different sauces, cheeses, or even add avocado for a creamy twist.

Whether you enjoy it as a lunch, dinner, or snack, this sandwich brings together the comforting, familiar flavors of chicken and bacon in a way that’s always delicious. Grab your ingredients, and get ready to sink your teeth into one of the most satisfying sandwiches you’ll ever make.

Pretty tasty, but 6-8 minutes per side felt long for my thin chicken cutlets. I ended up checking for doneness and pulled them sooner.

  2. User avatar Leto Atreides says:

    2 stars
Meh. Bland chicken. Need more seasoning or a sauce, like garlic mayo. But bacon was good, so I’ll give it that.

  3. User avatar lida.hudson1993 says:

    4 stars
Lol I forgot the mayo and it was still good. Maybe next time I’ll remember!

  4. User avatar melvina.hagenes3 says:

How long do u cook the bacon for? I got burnt 🙁.

  5. User avatar Pit Wolf says:

This sandwich is a game-changer! I added some avocado too, it made it even better. Yummy!

  6. User avatar miki.morissette says:

    2 stars
It’s ok I guess but why is there bacon? I mean chicken is already meat… feels like overkill.

  7. User avatar Roscoe Nikolaus says:

    4 stars
Simple and delicious! I added avocado and it was amazing!

  8. User avatar emelina.wintheiser26 says:

    3 stars
Ok but why 4 slices bread and only “1 tomato sliced”? I used like half a tomato and it still felt skimpy. Other than that, flavor was solid.

  9. User avatar basil.pfannerstill18 says:

    5 stars
This sandwich is a game changer! So delicious! I added some avocado too. Yum!

    1. 5 stars
Absolutely agree! The avocado addition sounds amazing. I can’t wait to try it myself!

    2. User avatar Leto II Atreides says:

      2 stars
Game changer? Really? It’s just bacon and chicken. What’s the big deal?

  10. User avatar saul.willms17 says:

    1 star
I dunno, I messed it up somehow. Chicken didn’t cook right and the bread burned. May be I’m just bad at cooking.

    1. 4 stars
Don’t be too hard on yourself! Cooking can be tricky. Maybe just try the chicken on a lower heat next time, and keep an eye on the bread? 😊

  11. User avatar terina.hoeger says:

    2 stars
Just a plain sandwich with ya know, ingredients. Not that special.

  12. User avatar quinn.cartwright96 says:

    5 stars
This sandwich is amazing! I added some avocado too, yum!

    1. 5 stars
I totally agree! Avocado makes everything better. 🍽️

  13. 3 stars
Whats with the mayo? Didn’t like it. Left out for mine.

    1. User avatar jerilyn.stanton says:

      4 stars
I actually love the mayo! It adds a creamy texture. Give it another try!

    2. User avatar rudy.schulist87 says:

      3 stars
Mayo? Yuck! I prefer it without as well. Just the chicken and bacon is enough!

  14. 5 stars
Very easy to make! But I added cheese bc I’m a cheese lover. Yum!

    1. User avatar heather.hessel27 says:

      5 stars
Cheese sounds delish! 🧀 I usually add avocado too. Have you tried that?

    2. User avatar lean.gerlach86 says:

      2 stars
I dunno about adding cheese, chicken and bacon already sounds heavy. But each to their own, I guess.

  15. 3 stars
I followed the recipe but my chicken turned out dry. Maybe I cooked it too long?

    1. 3 stars
I think the bacon might need more time than the chicken, but don’t lose hope! More practice will help you get it right!

    2. 4 stars
Yeah, cooking chicken for too long can really dry it out. Maybe try checking it with a thermometer next time? It should be 165°F in the middle.

  16. User avatar rickiestmorty says:

    2 stars
Way too much bacon for my taste, sorry. I like bacon, but 8 slices is like going to war with a pig.

  17. User avatar hugh.keebler says:

    3 stars
I’m not sure about “4 slices chicken breast” though—was that raw weight or already thin sliced? I winged it and my chicken came out a bit dry.

    1. User avatar pricilla.abernathy says:

      5 stars
Good question—if you’re starting from thicker chicken breasts, 4 “slices” could be the tricky part. The 6–8 minutes per side assumes fairly thick pieces; thinner slices will cook way faster. Dry chicken usually means it went past that window (or the pan heat was too high). Next time, try thin-slicing yourself and cooking closer to 2–4 min per side, then let it rest.

    2. User avatar Feral Falmer says:

      3 stars
Wait so 4 slices means like pre-sliced from the store? I just cooked mine like normal and it was kinda dry too 😕 I think the bread and mayo make it look better but the chicken still dry. Maybe add a little butter? Or don’t cook so long.

  18. User avatar amado.ernser88 says:

    4 stars
I don’t like tomatoes so I left them out. Still tasted good! But the mayo was a bit too much for my taste.

  19. 5 stars
This is my kind of comfort food. Bacon gets crispy, mayo makes it creamy, lettuce gives crunch. No notes.

  20. 3 stars
This was okay, but I wish you told me what kind of bread! I used wheat and it was weird.

  21. User avatar vivan.runolfsson says:

    4 stars
The instructions are simple and it actually worked. I didn’t have tomato so I swapped pickles and… honestly still great.

  22. User avatar Jene Ondricka says:

    5 stars
5 stars, easy peasy, yummy! Best samich I ever had!

    1. User avatar Dino King IV says:

      3 stars
Best samich? Really? I mean, it’s good and all, but I think there’s way better out there. Just sayin’!

    2. 5 stars
I’m glad you loved it! It’s such a simple recipe. Did you add any extra toppings?

  23. 3 stars
Kinda confusing steps? What does ‘cook chicken till done’ mean? Need more details. 🤔

  24. User avatar Prostetnic Vogon Jeltz says:

    3 stars
Just fine! Didn’t make me jump for joy. But it filled my tummy.

    1. User avatar lee.hahn98 says:

      4 stars
I found it pretty tasty, but I do agree it wasn’t mind-blowing. Maybe a bit more spice next time could help?

    2. User avatar Falmer Spellsword says:

      3 stars
Just a sandwich, right? Chicken and bacon is always good, but I expected more excitement too.

  25. 3 stars
Dis one looks good but I still not understanding what’s with lettuce on sandwiches. It’s just leaves!

  26. User avatar peggie.hansen1985 says:

    5 stars
Can’t go wrong with chicken and bacon! A good lunch option!

  27. User avatar tanner.howe59 says:

    2 stars
I don’t know… mayo on toasted bread feels kinda heavy. But maybe the bacon fat makes it work. If you like salty comfort food, I guess it’s fine.

    1. User avatar stacy.jacobson says:

      3 stars
Mayo on toasted bread is too much for me 😅 I’d rather use mustard or even just a little of the bacon fat like you said. Also 8 slices bacon for 4 bread slices seems like overkill (but I mean… bacon is bacon).

    2. 5 stars
Honestly I get what you mean, mayo can feel heavy. But pairing it with crispy bacon and juicy chicken makes it way more balanced—plus the tomato/lettuce cuts through the richness. Try a thinner mayo layer next time.

  28. User avatar zona.cummings82 says:

    4 stars
Sooo good! But I put the bacon on top of the lettuce. Is that weird?

    1. User avatar jenniffer.kunde30 says:

      2 stars
Bacon on lettuce? That’s odd! Why wouldn’t you just put it inside? 🤔

    2. 5 stars
Not weird at all! Bacon on top sounds delicious. Can’t wait to try it like that!

  29. User avatar Rob McKenna says:

    5 stars
This sandwich is everything! The combo of chicken and bacon is just perfect.

  30. User avatar Majikthise says:

    2 stars
Too much bacon for me. I prefer just a slice, it was overwhelming. 🤷‍♂️

  31. User avatar marianela.walker says:

    5 stars
Yum! Made this for lunch, and it was gone in minutes! 🌟

    1. User avatar dawna.blick45 says:

      5 stars
Sounds delish! Gotta try it for dinner next time. 😋

  32. User avatar Silas Leuschke MD says:

    5 stars
This is literally the best thing I’ve ever made! Even my kids loved it!

  33. User avatar Gandalf the Grey says:

    3 stars
Followed the recipe, but my chicken turned out dry. Maybe I overcooked it?

  34. 3 stars
I did the chicken in the skillet and the seasoning was good. But I wish the bread was toasted with a little butter instead of dry—would’ve upped the flavor.

  35. User avatar stanley.haley72 says:

    2 stars
I thought it was too plain. Needs more spice, like garlic or somethin.

  36. 4 stars
    Sandwich? bacon? CRISPY! Yes!!

  37. 4 stars
Pretty solid, but my chicken took closer to 10 minutes per side (maybe my pan runs hot/cold). Also I wish the recipe mentioned using mayo on both sides—mine felt a little dry with only one spread.

    1. User avatar aubrey.hermiston says:

      5 stars
Good point about pan temps—6-8 min per side really depends on thickness and how hot your skillet runs. As for the mayo, I hear you; I only call for one side too, but adding a thin spread to both slices would definitely help with keeping it from feeling dry.

  38. User avatar Hasimir Fenring says:

    5 stars
Bacon makes everything better!!! I could eat this every day. 😍

  39. User avatar Sand-Dial says:

    4 stars
I dunno about chicken and bacon together, seems like too much meat. But my kids loved it!

    1. 5 stars
Too much meat? Nah! Chicken and bacon is the best combo! More bacon, please!

    2. 4 stars
I understand your concern! But you can always adjust the amount of bacon if it’s too meaty for you. Glad your kids enjoyed it!

  40. User avatar Hwi Noree says:

    5 stars
Totally loved it!!! Best combo of bacon and chicken ever!!!

    1. User avatar soila.toy77 says:

      5 stars
This sounds amazing! I can’t wait to try it! Bacon and chicken are the best!

  41. User avatar Draugr Thrall says:

    3 stars
6–8 minutes per side for the chicken breast feels a little risky depending on thickness. Mine took closer to 10 minutes, so just make sure it’s cooked through (I learned the hard way 😅).

  42. 5 stars
This sandwich was amazing! The bacon adds such a nice crunch. Will make again!

  43. User avatar colby.johnston38 says:

    5 stars
Tried this for lunch and it was way better than I expected—crispy bacon + juicy chicken is a great combo. I used whole wheat bread and it still worked perfectly.

    1. User avatar manual.friesen89 says:

      5 stars
Glad it worked for you! The bacon crunch with the juicy chicken really is the whole point. I’ve been thinking about trying it with whole wheat next time—good to know it still toasts up right.

    2. User avatar jesenia.bauch68 says:

      3 stars
Hmm… 4 slices chicken breast but also it says cook “chicken breast” like one piece? I might’ve messed up the timing because mine felt undercooked at 6-8 min a side. Still tasty though, and the mayo + toast combo slaps.

  44. 1 star
Not a fan. My chicken didn’t cook right, and the bacon made a mess. Maybe a simpler recipe would work better.

  45. User avatar dewitt.beatty says:

    4 stars
Simple and delicious! Just made it for lunch and my kids loved it. Will definitely make again!

  46. 5 stars
This sandwich was a hit with my family! So easy to make and delicious. Will definitely make again.

  47. 5 stars
Awesome! I added some cheese and it took it to another level. Best sandwich ever!

    1. 5 stars
Cheese?! That’s a game changer for sure! I’m gonna try it next time, thanks for the tip!

  48. User avatar ai.douglas90 says:

    4 stars
I followed it and the sandwich was actually better than expected. The lettuce stayed crisp and the chicken held together nicely after resting.

    1. User avatar delpha.osinski94 says:

      5 stars
Glad it worked out! The rest step really does make a difference—nice that your lettuce stayed crisp too.

  49. User avatar jenee.turcotte62 says:

    2 stars
It’s just a sandwich, nothing special. I don’t get the hype.

  50. User avatar anonymous_hacker says:

    4 stars
I like how straightforward it is. The 6-8 minutes per side depends on thickness though—mine took closer to 8-9 because my chicken was kinda thick. Still turned out great.

  51. User avatar gary.senger13 says:

    3 stars
This is simple, but I’m not sure the amounts are right. 4 slices chicken breast and 8 slices bacon… that sandwich is gonna be a lot. I ended up using 4 bacon slices and it was plenty.

  52. User avatar gilda.halvorson1998 says:

    4 stars
My bacon took forever to crisp because I was cooking on too low heat (rookie mistake). Once it finally got there, sandwich tasted amazing.

  53. User avatar myron.pouros52 says:

    4 stars
Bread, chicken, bacon. What more do ya need? Simple and tasty!

    1. User avatar roxana.bergnaum15 says:

      5 stars
Yum! This sounds super easy and delicious. Can’t wait to try it!

  54. User avatar ralph.batz99 says:

    2 stars
Too much bacon! I thought it was gonna be healthier with chicken, but this was just a bacon overload.

  55. 3 stars
Not sure about 4 slices of chicken breast… are we talking full slices or whole cutlets? Also mayo without measuring is always a gamble 😂

    1. User avatar burl.hintz says:

      4 stars
Good question 😅 I’m assuming “slices” like thin cutlets (or butterflied slices) you can cook evenly in a pan—otherwise 6–8 min/side might be too long or uneven.

  56. 2 stars
It’s okay but like too much bacon? I don’t think chicken and bacon go together well.

  57. User avatar jude.jaskolski says:

    5 stars
Sandwich = life. Tried it, loved it. Might put some pickles next time for a kick!

  58. User avatar NAFO.SUPREMACY says:

    4 stars
Pretty straightforward and honestly hard to mess up. I added a little extra pepper because I’m that person, but otherwise followed the steps and it came out great.

    1. User avatar geoWizard says:

      5 stars
Totally agree—this is one of those recipes where if you just follow along it turns out really solid. Extra pepper is the move 😄

  59. 2 stars
Meh. I followed it exactly and it was fine, but nothing special. Could’ve used some kind of sauce besides mayo—like mustard or hot sauce.

  60. User avatar randolph.schmeler2013 says:

    3 stars
I followed the steps and it tasted okay, but the bacon got too salty for my liking. Next time I’ll sprinkle less salt on the chicken or blot the bacon after cooking.

    1. User avatar porcupine says:

      4 stars
Wait, you still salted the chicken though? I’ve never added salt when the bacon is that salty. Maybe your bacon brand was extra cured? I’d try unsalted chicken next time and maybe cook the bacon a little less so it doesn’t concentrate.

    2. User avatar kim.marks says:

      5 stars
Totally get that—bacon can be super salty. I usually skip extra salt on the chicken (or use way less) and I pat the bacon with a paper towel right after frying. Works great for me.

  61. User avatar Cammar Pilru says:

    5 stars
Five stars for bacon, five stars for chicken. Also lettuce on a hot sandwich kinda wilts tho… still ate it all.

  62. User avatar joe_banana says:

    4 stars
    Yum!

  63. 5 stars
This looks ridiculously good. The bacon + mayo combo is always a win, and I like that the chicken is seasoned right up front. Definitely making it this weekend.

  64. User avatar Arthur Philip Deodat says:

    5 stars
Just made these—crispy bacon + juicy chicken is such a good combo. Toasted bread helped a lot. I used a little extra mayo and it was perfect.

  65. User avatar dallas.gorczany50 says:

    2 stars
meh. I mean it’s bacon and chicken so it’s hard to mess up, but the mayo amount is totally vague. I used too much and it got greasy. 6/8 minutes per side also felt long for my pieces.

    1. User avatar carlos.fahey says:

      4 stars
Yeah I feel you—“mayo amount” is the one thing that really depends on the bread and how saucy you like it. I usually do a light spread, like just enough to glisten, not a glob… greasy bacon + too much mayo is a fast track 😅 Also agree 6–8 min/side can be long for smaller/thinner pieces—thickness matters a lot.

  66. User avatar irving.howell91 says:

    5 stars
This sounds dangerously good. Crispy bacon + juicy chicken and a toasted bun? I’d definitely add extra mayo (and maybe a swipe of mustard).

    1. User avatar eduardo.jacobson says:

      4 stars
Dangerously good? maybe lol. I just worry 4 slices chicken breast with 8 slices bacon is gonna be too salty together. I’d cut back the bacon a bit or use less mayo.

    2. User avatar raphael.schoen56 says:

      5 stars
Yes!! That crispy bacon + toasted bun combo is the whole point. I’d also add a thin slice of cheese if we’re feeling fancy 😄
