Chicken and Avocado Nori Wraps

August 9, 2023

When you’re craving a light, nutritious, and delicious meal, Chicken and Avocado Nori Wraps are the perfect choice. This dish combines the rich, creamy texture of avocado with the lean protein of grilled chicken, all wrapped up in a sheet of nutrient-packed nori. The result is a simple, satisfying, and health-conscious wrap that’s full of fresh flavors and makes for a quick and easy lunch or snack.

The nori, which is thinly dried seaweed, adds an umami flavor that complements the savory grilled chicken. It’s packed with minerals and nutrients, making it the perfect base for these wraps. The creamy avocado adds a luscious richness, balancing the umami notes of the nori and offering a satisfying texture contrast to the tender chicken. Together, these ingredients create a perfect harmony of flavors and textures.

What makes these wraps so versatile is how easy they are to customize. You can swap the chicken for tofu or grilled shrimp if you prefer a plant-based or seafood option. Add some crunchy vegetables like cucumber, carrots, or bell peppers for extra crunch and freshness. For those who love a bit of spice, a drizzle of sriracha or a sprinkle of chili flakes can add the perfect kick.

These wraps are also incredibly easy to make. Simply layer the chicken, avocado, and any additional vegetables you like onto the nori sheet, then roll it up tightly. With just a few ingredients, you can create a handheld meal that’s both filling and refreshing.

Chicken and Avocado Nori Wraps are not only delicious but also a healthy choice. They’re low in carbs and packed with healthy fats and protein, making them a great option for anyone looking to enjoy a nutritious meal without sacrificing flavor. Whether you’re preparing a quick lunch, a healthy snack, or a light dinner, these wraps offer a fresh, flavorful solution. They’re easy to make, easy to customize, and perfect for on-the-go eating.

Not a fan, the nori was too chewy for me. I guess I’m just not used to eating seaweed.

This recipe is missing something. More flavor maybe? I expected better.

    1. User avatar mitchel.ullrich says:

      4 stars
I totally agree! It needs more spice or something. Maybe some chili flakes or garlic?

  4. User avatar nathan.carroll2022 says:

These wraps are seriously good—loved the sweet-savory drizzle with the avocado. I added a tiny pinch of chili flakes and it totally leveled it up.

  5. User avatar troy.reichert1 says:

Tried these tonight—super fresh and the nori actually stays flavorful. The honey in the sauce is a great touch, not too sweet. I’ll definitely make again!

No offense but chicken and avocado together? Sounds weird, like they don’t go. I’m skeptical, but I’ll try for my salad.

I thought chicken and avocado together was odd. But it actually works! Surprisingly good.

  16. User avatar dave.hermann32 says:

1 word: Meh. Nori was kinda fishy for me, and the sauce didn’t wow. I probably won’t make again.

  17. User avatar wilbert.mayert66 says:

    4 stars
I’m skeptical about the amount of honey—ended up sweeter than I expected, but still tasty. Would probably cut it to 1/2 tbsp.

  18. User avatar regan.turner1967 says:

    2 stars
I tried making these but the nori fell apart. Maybe I did somethin wrong? Not sure I’ll make them again. 😕

    1. User avatar geoffrey.stroman1986 says:

      5 stars
Don’t worry! Nori can be tricky if it’s not fresh. Next time, try to toast it a bit before rolling. It’ll hold together better! 😊

  19. 3 stars
I don’t get why people put avocado with chicken. Isn’t that a bit strange?

  20. User avatar marilynn.kshlerin says:

    3 stars
The soy sauce was overwhelming. I think I’ll reduce it next time or add more honey. Anyone else had this issue?

  21. 3 stars
Honestly, I’m not a fan of avocados… Can I use mayo instead? Just asking 🤔

  22. 5 stars
This dish is realy great for a quick meal. I’m gonna make it again!

  23. User avatar enoch.durgan85 says:

    4 stars
Not bad at all. The nori can get a little chewy if it sits too long, so I recommend eating right away. Sesame seeds were a nice touch too.

    1. User avatar sybil.heaney97 says:

      3 stars
I like the idea but I think 4 sheets of nori is too little for 2 chicken breasts… unless the chicken is super shredded and tiny. Also I forgot to eat right away once and it was still okay? Maybe I just got lucky lol. But good flavor!

    2. User avatar Jordon Shields says:

      5 stars
Agreed on the nori—mine got chewy once when I prepped ahead and let it sit. Eating right away really is the move. The sesame seeds + that sauce sounds perfectly balanced!

  24. User avatar lenna.borer76 says:

    3 stars
honestly? it’s good but 4 sheets nori isn’t enough for me lol. also i forgot to drizzle the sauce evenly and it was kinda bland in the middle.

  25. User avatar Kortney Heller II says:

    4 stars
SIMPLE and TASTY! I’m not a cook but these were so easy. My kids loved them too! 😊

  26. 5 stars
My kids loved these! Didnt even notice the avocado, haha. Definitely making again!

  27. User avatar hubert.lindgren says:

    1 star
Too complicated. I just want a fast snack, not a whole thing with rolling! 1 star.

  28. User avatar lawrence.morissette1955 says:

    4 stars
I don’t really get why you need soy sauce and honey together. Seems odd. 🤔

  29. 3 stars
Not sure about using nori for wraps, seems a bit weird. But hey, tried it and it was okay.

    1. User avatar lavina.murazik1999 says:

      5 stars
I thought the nori wraps were great! A nice twist on the usual. 🌯

  30. User avatar terminatorXYZ says:

    5 stars
Yum! Just made this for lunch and it was amazing! Avocados are the best. 💚

  31. 3 stars
Easy to make, but the honey in the sauce is too sweet for me. Next time I’ll use less.

  32. User avatar caroline.dubuque says:

    4 stars
Not bad! But I think it could use some spice. Maybe add some sriracha?

  33. User avatar austin.ward21 says:

    5 stars
This tastes like sushi without all the fuss. I used leftover rotisserie chicken and it worked perfectly. Quick lunch, zero regrets.

  34. 1 star
Looks ok but ain’t chicken breast too dry? I prefer dark meat louder taste!

    1. User avatar Peregrin Took says:

      4 stars
I totally get you! Dark meat is juicier for sure. Chicken breast can be kinda bland sometimes.

    2. User avatar wellRespected says:

      5 stars
Nah, chicken breast ain’t dry if you cook it right! Just gotta keep it juicy. These wraps look awesome!

  35. User avatar smartestRedditor says:

    2 stars
Not for me. Avocado and chicken just don’t mix. Bad combo.

  36. User avatar natividad.terry60 says:

    5 stars
Wow, these wraps are amazing! Just made them for lunch and my family loved it! Can’t believe how easy it was. Totally recommend!

  37. 4 stars
I loved the concept, but my nori got kinda chewy and not super crisp—maybe I didn’t seal tightly enough. Still, flavor was great. Would make again.

  38. User avatar Bowerick Wowbagger says:

    1 star
Too much work for not enough flavor. Just stick to a sandwich.

  39. 3 stars
Not sure about the nori… It’s kinda fishy. I subbed with lettuce leaves and it turned out fine.

  40. 4 stars
Very good, but I think it needs more sauce. I added extra honey and it was better!

  41. User avatar liberal.hero says:

    2 stars
Nori is weird. I prefer wraps with tortilla. Just saying.

  42. 4 stars
So good and healthy! Made them for a picnic and everyone loved it.

    1. 5 stars
I’m glad to hear you enjoyed them! They’re perfect for picnics. Did you add any other fillings?

  43. User avatar Tom Bombadil says:

    5 stars
These wraps are super easy and delicious! I added some carrots for crunch. 5 stars!

  44. User avatar cortney.boyer4 says:

    5 stars
I used leftover rotisserie chicken and it was way faster. Sesame oil smell is amazing, I could eat that sauce by itself.

    1. User avatar cassey.kirlin says:

      5 stars
Yes!! Leftover rotisserie chicken makes this so much quicker and the sesame oil + nori combo is honestly elite. I’ve totally been tempted to dip bread in the sauce too 😅

  45. User avatar marylou.lueilwitz53 says:

    5 stars
    Delish!

  46. User avatar jessika.mayer says:

    5 stars
Absolutely delicious! I made these for lunch and my kids devoured them.

    1. User avatar Joycelyn Ruecker says:

      5 stars
That sounds amazing! I bet my kids would love these too. Thanks for the idea!

    2. User avatar terminatorXYZ says:

      3 stars
I don’t know, nori wraps don’t seem filling enough for lunch. Maybe add rice?

  47. User avatar dung.koepp41 says:

    4 stars
My nori tore a little when I rolled it—probably my fault, I didn’t press enough. The flavor was still great though. Will try again.

  48. User avatar eugene.russel20 says:

    3 stars
Had a hard time rolling them up. The nori kept tearing. Taste was good tho.

    1. User avatar soo.yundt says:

      2 stars
Nori tearing? Really? Just roll it better, it ain’t that hard. You gotta be more careful. But glad you liked the taste!

    2. User avatar kia.bartoletti27 says:

      4 stars
I had the same trouble with the nori, it’s so delicate! Try wetting it a little before rolling, it helps a lot. But yes, the taste is worth the hassle!

  49. User avatar davis.swaniawski68 says:

    4 stars
Love this recipe! Only added some cucumber for crunch. Yum!

  50. User avatar suspiciousCommentator says:

    2 stars
I tried this recipe, but it didn’t work for me. The nori got all soggy. Not sure what I did wrong.

  51. User avatar dorie.renner says:

    5 stars
Tried these for lunch today and omg… the sweet-salty sauce with the avocado is such a good combo. Nori gets the perfect chew too.

  52. User avatar pat.jerde says:

    2 stars
Not a fan of the texture of nori, might try lettuce wraps instead. Meh.

    1. 3 stars
But nori is like, the best part! It adds flavor! You might be missing out if you don’t give it a chance.

    2. User avatar Earl E. Byrd says:

      4 stars
I totally get that! Nori can be kinda chewy. Lettuce wraps sound like a good alternative for sure! 🌱

  53. User avatar youlanda.quitzon5 says:

    3 stars
I was skeptical about the sweet honey + soy combo, but it works. I’m not sure if I used enough rice vinegar though—mine tasted a little flat. Still tasty.

    1. User avatar duane.dubuque says:

      5 stars
Totally fair to be skeptical! That honey/soy combo is weird at first but it really does balance the nori. If yours tasted flat, I’d try either a little more rice vinegar (start with +1/2 tbsp) or even a tiny pinch of salt—depends how salty your soy sauce is.

  54. User avatar eladia.buckridge says:

    5 stars
Tried it tonight. The rolls were a little messy but flavor was awesome. Sesame oil + honey is a sneaky great pairing.

    1. User avatar millie.reichert30 says:

      5 stars
Totally agree—sesame oil + honey is such a cheat code. Ours got a little messy too, but the flavor made up for it. Next time I’ll probably slice the avocado thinner so it rolls cleaner.

  55. User avatar geoWizard says:

    3 stars
I tried it but the nori was a bit too chewy for me. Maybe I did something wrong.

  56. User avatar armand.veum says:

    2 stars
I think 2 avocados is overkill? Like, it tasted kinda heavy. Maybe one avocado next time and more chicken.

  57. User avatar raul.nitzsche1973 says:

    2 stars
Chicken and avocado?? Sounds good, but do they go together? Like, I don’t know… Just seems weird.

    1. User avatar alisa.hagenes says:

      2 stars
Idk man, chicken and avocados seem kinda odd. Like, chicken goes with rice or potatoes, right? Not some weird seaweed thing??

    2. User avatar renate.torp says:

      4 stars
I thought the same thing at first, but trust me, they taste great together! The creaminess of the avocado balances the chicken perfectly.

  58. 5 stars
These were surprisingly good! The honey + rice vinegar combo makes the soy drizzle taste really balanced. My avocado stayed creamy even after slicing.

  59. User avatar gaston.gislason2005 says:

    4 stars
Great recipe but had to google what Nori is! Never heard of it before, haha.

  60. User avatar Natalya Bayer says:

    4 stars
I was skeptical about honey + soy sauce, but it actually worked. My only issue: the filling was a bit much for the nori sheets, so next time I’ll use slightly less chicken.

    1. User avatar niesha.effertz says:

      5 stars
Same! I was also worried the honey would make it weird, but that sweet-salty sauce is 🔥. Good call on using slightly less chicken—my nori always feels like it’s going to burst.

    2. User avatar smartestRedditor says:

      4 stars
I tried this and I think my filling was way too much too 😅. Next time I’ll cut the chicken down and maybe add less avocado so it rolls tighter. Still tasted great though.
