Blueberry Chia Detox Smoothie

March 1, 2024

If you’re looking for a simple way to feel refreshed, energized, and nourished, this Blueberry Chia Detox Smoothie is the answer. Packed with superfoods and naturally sweet flavors, it’s the perfect morning jumpstart or afternoon pick-me-up.

Blueberries are the star here, loaded with antioxidants, they help fight inflammation and support your immune system. Their sweet-tart flavor pairs beautifully with banana for natural creaminess and just the right amount of sweetness. The addition of chia seeds gives this smoothie a boost of fiber, omega-3 fatty acids, and protein, helping you feel full and satisfied longer.

But it’s not just about the taste. This smoothie is designed to support your body’s natural detox process. Spinach or kale adds a dose of greens, while lemon juice brings brightness and helps cleanse the digestive system. A touch of fresh ginger or turmeric can take it to the next level with added anti-inflammatory benefits.

What makes this smoothie even better is how easy it is to prepare. Just toss everything into a blender, frozen blueberries, banana, plant-based milk or coconut water, a handful of greens, a spoonful of chia seeds, and a squeeze of lemon juice. Blend until smooth, pour into a glass, and enjoy immediately.

The texture is silky with a slight crunch from the chia seeds, which also expand slightly if left to sit, creating a pudding-like consistency that some people love. If you’re prepping ahead, let it sit in the fridge for 10 to 15 minutes so the chia seeds can thicken it naturally.

This smoothie is great after a workout, first thing in the morning, or whenever your body needs a gentle reset. It’s also kid-friendly and easy to customize. Add a scoop of protein powder for post-gym fuel or blend in some frozen mango for a tropical twist.

Nutritious, hydrating, and totally delicious, this Blueberry Chia Detox Smoothie is a great way to give your body a clean, tasty refresh, no complicated cleanses required.

Could you use fresh blueberries? I feel like frozen ones are gonna be better, but I’m curious if fresh still works with the same ratios.

Tried this today—super easy and the texture is surprisingly creamy for just chia + fruit. Mine came out a bit thick, but adding a splash more almond milk fixed it.

This is such a simple smoothie—like, dump-and-go. The chia makes it feel actually filling, and the blueberry flavor is spot on.

I didn’t have honey, so I skipped it. It was a bit tart for me, but once I added more banana it improved a lot.

Tried this for breakfast and it actually tastes really fresh. The blueberries + banana combo is perfect, and the chia gives it that nice thick texture.

This is such a refreshing combo—blueberries + banana + chia is a great texture. I used oat milk once and it was still really good.

I don’t get the whole chia thing—seems like you just add seeds to everything. Still, it wasn’t bad, just not for me.

The instructions are so simple it feels suspicious 😅 But yeah it actually worked. I added cinnamon too—highly recommend.

I followed the recipe but my blender needed a lot more time—chia made it kinda thick and chunky at first. Still ended up tasty though.

That makes sense—chia can thicken and get a bit chunky until it’s had enough blend time. Next time try blending longer (or let it sit 5–10 min and blend again). So glad it still tasted good!

I tried it without honey and it was kinda bland. Needs sweetness!

  16. User avatar elliott.mraz says:

Mine turned out a little too thick and grainy, I think because my chia was old. Next time I’ll blend longer or let it sit 5 minutes.

One cup almond milk?? I only used like half and it was still too watery. Recipe needs measurements, like seriously, how thick is it supposed to be.

Chia + almond milk = healthy sounding, but I’m not convinced about the detox part. However it’s tasty and quick.

  19. User avatar Pasta Fasta says:

Super easy and actually tastes fresh! I used a splash more almond milk to thin it out—perfect consistency for me.

    1. 5 stars
Yes!! I love that it tastes fresh even with frozen berries. I’m gonna try your extra almond milk trick next time—my chia always gets a little too thick.

I added a little extra banana because mine came out too tart. Still super good though. Next time I’ll measure the honey better.

    1. 3 stars
Extra banana makes sense… but I thought blueberries are already sweet? Also I always forget to measure honey, I just kinda pour and hope 😅

    2. User avatar suspiciousCommentator says:

Love that adjustment! Banana really helps round out the tartness. Measuring the honey will make it even more consistent next time—nice tip.

  21. 3 stars
I tried this and it turned out too thick. Maybe add more almond milk?

  22. User avatar clement.hermiston27 says:

This was alright… too thick for my liking. I added extra milk and it improved, but I probably won’t make it as often.

  23. 2 stars
Tried it with frozen blueberries and it came out watery at first, then weirdly gel-like. Maybe my chia seeds were old? Won’t lie, kinda gross at first sip.

Tried this and it was too thick for my liking. I added more almond milk.

I followed it exactly and it tasted bland. Maybe my blueberries were too tart? I added more honey and it became way better.

    1. User avatar aurelio.hessel44 says:

That makes sense—frozen blueberries can vary a lot in sweetness. If they were extra tart, the smoothie would come out bland until you balance it with honey. Glad adding more helped!

I made this and it was okay… but I didn’t notice any “detox” effect. Also my blueberries were way too frozen and it wouldn’t blend smoothly.

    1. User avatar Willy Leannon says:

      4 stars
Ugh, frozen blueberries can definitely mess with the texture—try letting them sit 5–10 minutes or add a bit more almond milk so it blends smoother. As for “detox,” that’s more marketing than a guaranteed effect 😅 but chia + fruit still can be a nice fiber boost. Did you blend on high for a full minute or more?

Wow this is fire 🔥 I added cinnamon and it was amazing. 10/10 would drink every morning.

I put strawberries in instead of bluebs, didn’t turn out good. 0/10.

I hate when recipes say “blend until smooth” like that’s guaranteed lol. My smoothie had little chia dots but I think I just didn’t blend long enough.
