Spiderweb Chocolate Cake is a spook-tacular dessert that combines rich, moist chocolate cake with a creative, Halloween-inspired decoration. This cake is not only visually striking but also delicious, making it a perfect centerpiece for Halloween parties, family gatherings, or themed events. With its indulgent chocolate flavor and dramatic spiderweb design, it’s sure to impress your guests while satisfying their sweet tooth.
The base of this cake is a decadent, moist chocolate cake made with simple ingredients that deliver a rich and tender crumb. Whether you bake a layer cake or a single round, the cake itself is the perfect canvas for your spooky spiderweb design. The dark chocolate cake pairs wonderfully with a smooth, velvety chocolate frosting that adds both flavor and a bit of luxury to each bite.
The real fun comes with the spiderweb decoration. After the cake is frosted, a contrasting white icing is piped into a simple spiderweb pattern across the top of the cake. Using a toothpick or knife, the web is then carefully pulled from the center outwards, creating the iconic spiderweb look. For added flair, a small plastic or candy spider can be placed in the center or crawling along the edges of the web, adding that final creepy touch.
What makes Spiderweb Chocolate Cake so appealing is its combination of textures and flavors. The richness of the chocolate cake and frosting is balanced by the delicate sweetness of the spiderweb icing. It’s indulgent without being overwhelmingly sweet, making it a great choice for those who love chocolate but don’t want a cake that’s too heavy.
This cake is an easy and fun project for Halloween baking. Kids will love helping with the spiderweb decoration, and it’s a simple way to make a dessert look impressive without requiring advanced baking skills. Whether you’re serving it at a party, enjoying it with family, or taking it to a Halloween potluck, Spiderweb Chocolate Cake is a dessert that combines spooky fun with a deliciously decadent treat.

Ingredients
- 1 and 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 1 and 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 and 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 large eggs at room temperature
- 1 cup whole milk at room temperature
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 cup boiling water
- 1/4 cup white chocolate or icing for spiderweb decoration
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
- In a large bowl, combine flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Whisk until evenly mixed.
- Add eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla to the dry ingredients. Beat on medium speed for 2 minutes.
- Stir in boiling water until the batter is smooth. The batter will be thin.
- Pour the batter evenly into the prepared cake pans.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Allow cakes to cool in pans for 10 minutes, then remove from pans and transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Once cooled, place one cake layer on a serving plate. Spread a layer of icing on top. Add the second layer of cake.
- Melt the white chocolate or prepare icing and place it in a piping bag. Pipe a spiral design on top of the cake.
- Use a toothpick to drag lines from the center of the spiral outward to create a spiderweb pattern.
Spiderweb cake!!! I love Halloween and this recipe is perfect!
350°F is fine but 30-35 mins feels short for two 9-inch layers. I’d start checking at 28 and go by the toothpick.
Yummy! My kids loved helping with the spiderweb part! 😊 Definitely a fun family activity.
That sounds like a blast! I love when kids get involved in cooking. What age are your kids?
Spiderwebs on cake?? So creative! But what if I don’t like white chocolate? Can I use something else?
I didn’t have boiling water, I used cold. It turned out kinda mushy. Wouldn’t recommend 😩
I don’t really get the whole spiderweb thing… are we eating cake or catching spiders?
Not sure about 2 cups sugar—seems like a lot. Also the boiling water step freaked me out, I was like what am I doing 😅 But it still tasted good.
Just okay. The cake was a bit too sweet for my taste… I prefer a more bitter chocolate flavor. Also, the frosting got kinda messy.
I totally get what you mean! I also prefer a richer chocolate taste. Maybe try adding some espresso powder next time? It really balances out the sweetness!
Y’all, this is the best recipe ever! So simple and looks fancy. My kids loved making the spiderwebs! 🎃
I’m glad you and your kids enjoyed it! The spiderwebs are such a fun touch! 🕷️🎂
This seems nice, but honestly, my kids hate chocolate. Do you think it works with vanilla instead?
I like the idea of the spiderweb top. My white chocolate always seizes though… anyone have a trick to keep it smooth?
The instructions are easy, but 2 cups sugar feels like a lot (it is). My family likes sweet so it worked, but I’d cut sugar a bit next run.
Um, I don’t know about using boiling water. Seemed kinda weird. The cake turned out alright, but I was nervous.
Use a whisk? Can’t I just use a fork? 🤔
I followed everything but I think my oven runs hot—edges got a bit dry. Otherwise the crumb was fine. Also, room temp eggs/milk mattered a lot.
This cake recipe is AMAZING! I made it for Halloween and everyone loved the spiderweb design! Will make again.
Wow, that sounds so fun! I’m glad it was a hit for Halloween! Can you share a pic?
Spiderweb design? Sounds weird but interesting! Did it taste good too?
Highly overrated. The flavor was just okay, and it didn’t look like the picture. Should’ve just bought one.
I followed everything but my web slid a bit because the white chocolate was too warm. Chill the piping bag/cake longer—lesson learned.
That makes sense—warm white chocolate gets runny fast. Next time I’ll chill the piping bag longer too. Thanks for the real-world tip!
350°F and 30-35 minutes… mine was dry at 35. Next time I’ll pull it at like 28 and maybe add a bit more vanilla or oil.
Good call—pulling at ~28 min makes sense. Since the batter is super thin, it can go from “just right” to “dry” fast. I’ll keep an eye on mine too.
My piping bag skills are basically zero, so the spiderweb might become a spaghetti web. But the chocolate cake part looks legit, so I’d make it even without the design.
Baked it and it came out so fluffy! I can’t believe I made this from scratch. Thanks for the easy instructions!
Wow, that’s amazing! I’m so glad it turned out fluffy for you. I can’t wait to try this recipe myself!
Quick question: can I use milk chocolate instead of white for the spiderweb? 🤔
This is just a chocolate cake with some icing, nothing special.
Seems a bit too sweet with 2 cups sugar AND cocoa AND more chocolate on top. Might cut the sugar down next time.
This cake is a total showstopper! The spiderweb design is so cute, and it tastes divine. My kids loved it!
I tried making this cake for my kids’ Halloween party, and it turned out awesome! Thank you for sharing this recipe! 🎃
I dunno, the batter was way too runny. I think it could use more flour. My cake ended up flat!
Why use boiling water? Isn’t that gonna ruin the eggs? I didn’t try this recipe, sounds silly…
Not good. Tasted burnt and it was super dense. Never making this again.
I tried something similar and the white chocolate web usually melts weirdly. Any tips to stop it from running? Otherwise the flavor seems solid.
Yeah, white chocolate can get runny fast. I usually melt it super gently (microwave in 15–20 sec bursts) and let it cool a couple minutes before piping—thicker is easier to control.
This cake is so delicious! The chocolate flavor is to die for. My family loved it, and it looked pretty too with that spiderweb decoration!
The white chocolate decoration—do you melt it with a little oil or butter? Mine got too thick and wouldn’t pipe.
I usually melt the white chocolate gently first, and I don’t add much—just a tiny splash of oil if it’s too thick. If it thickened, it likely cooled too fast; rewarm slightly and keep it thin enough to pipe.
Perfect for spooky season! It was a hit at the party!
Was it really that good? I tried a different chocolate cake and it was just okay.
I’m so glad you and your guests loved it! The spiderweb decoration is such a fun touch.
I tried making this cake and it came out all messed up. The layers fell apart. I dunno what went wrong…
This cake is just chocolate overload! Too sweet for my taste. I prefer a simple vanilla.
Good but I guess I overbaked it. The texture wasn’t right… still tasted fine tho!
I tried a similar chocolate cake with boiling water and it was surprisingly good, so I’m on board. The spiderweb piping idea is also cute—definitely a vibe.
It’s just a chocolate cake… like we needed another one? Meh.
This sounds like the perfect “wow” cake for Halloween. The batter being thin but still baking up to a tender crumb makes me hopeful. I might add a pinch more vanilla though.
Sounds great but I’m confused: it says 1 cup boiling water. Won’t that make it weird/watery? I guess the thin batter is intentional though… I’ll trust it 😅
I love that it bakes up tender even with thin batter—those are always the best chocolate cakes. I’d definitely try your extra pinch of vanilla; it helps the cocoa taste pop.
Hey, do you think I can substitute the white chocolate with dark chocolate? I only have dark chocolate at home.
Yeah, you can use dark chocolate! It will make the cake richer. Just keep in mind it’ll taste different than the white chocolate. Good luck!
Made this for Halloween and it came out super fudgy. The spiderweb look was honestly the easiest part—kids loved it.
Bakin it tonight! Hoping for good results. Wish me luck!
I tried making the white chocolate spiral but it seized up on me (maybe my piping bag wasn’t dry?). Cake itself was fine, but decoration was a fail.
So good! My family asked me to make it again for Halloween. The crumb is very chocolatey and tender. 10/10 for presentation too.
This cake is a masterpiece! The kids loved it at the Halloween party.
The spiderweb design was super fun to make! My kids loved it. 😊
I followed everything, but mine sank a little in the middle. I’m guessing my oven runs hot? Also the 30-35 minutes didn’t feel long enough.
Wow, this cake looks so cool! Can’t wait to try it for Halloween!
The measurements look a little… intense? 2 cups sugar feels like a lot for that amount of cocoa, but maybe the icing balances it. I’d taste the batter? 😅
Right?? 2 cups sugar sounds like way too much with only 3/4 cup cocoa. But I’ve learned this kind of cake often turns out better than it sounds—thin batter + baking usually fixes it. I would definitely taste a tiny bit of batter 😅
Just made this for Halloween, and it was a hit! Dark and spooky treat for the kids. 🎃
What is the purpose of the boiling water? Does it actually make a difference? I got a cake recipe that was similar, and it didn’t call for it.
Yummy!!!
I can’t wait to try this! Looks so good! 😍
This cake is like chocolate heaven!! 🍫 I didn’t do the spiderweb cause I’m not that good at decorating. Still awesome!
Too much sugar, I think! It tasted more like candy than cake.
I don’t think it’s too much sugar, it’s a dessert after all! Candy cakes are the best!
Honestly, you can just reduce the sugar next time. But I love my cake sweet! 😋
I had a hard time with the icing. It didn’t turn out like the picture. Super frustrating!
Delicious! I made it for my parents’ anniversary, and it was a hit. Will make it again for sure!
That’s awesome! Your parents must have loved it. Such a creative cake for an anniversary! 🎉
I’m skeptical about the 30-35 min part with 2 layers. Mine took longer and I had to cover the tops. Still good though—rich chocolate flavor.
Love this recipe! It’s super easy and super YUMMY!! Just glazed it instead of the spiderweb, and it was awesome.
I’m glad you enjoyed it! Glazing sounds like a great idea, I’ll have to try that next time!
I followed the recipe exactly but my cake didn’t rise. What went wrong?
idk maybe u didn’t mix it enough or ur oven isn’t hot enough. try again it could be better next time!
Maybe your baking powder or soda is old? They can lose their power over time. Check the dates next time!
This is delightfully dramatic—my whole family kept asking where I got the “fancy bakery” look. The batter being thin didn’t bother me, and it still baked up perfectly moist.
My oven runs hot—30 minutes was perfect. If yours runs cold, give it a few extra minutes. Also cool completely or the web smears.
This sounds dangerously good—boiling water + cocoa usually makes the crumb super fudgy. I’m making this for a spooky party and acting like it’s “easy.”
Right?! Boiling water + cocoa is like instant fudginess. “Easy” for sure… until it’s gone in 5 minutes 😅
Spooky party cake is such a vibe. I love that the batter gets thin—means it bakes up rich instead of dry.
This cake is a hit at every party! Rich chocolate flavor and the spiderweb decoration is so cool! 5 stars!!
Why does it need boiling water? Seems weird to me. But maybe it’s a good trick? I dunno.
Chocolate flavor is rich and not too sweet. I used dark cocoa and added an extra splash of vanilla—still worked. The web effect was easier than I thought.
Love it. I made for Halloween and everyone was impressed. 10/10 would bake again.
Not gonna lie, I don’t really get why you need the white chocolate for the web—couldn’t you just use regular frosting? But the idea is cute and it tasted fine.
Not sure about the spiderweb part… I just want cake. Can I skip that?
Cake was ok, but too many ingredients if ya ask me. Just give me a box mix any day.
The cake collapsed a bit. Not sure if I did something wrong. Templates are always deceiving.
I tried a similar recipe once and the batter was REALLY thin—still turned out okay, just be patient when pouring.
This looks so fun—my kids would LOVE the spiderweb top. The batter being thin sounds scary, but if it bakes up in 30–35 minutes, I’m in!
Omg yes—my niece would totally go feral for the spiderweb top 😂 I love that it bakes up in under 40 min too!
Thin batter doesn’t sound scary to me—it sounds like you’re making it extra fudgy. Boiling water is key though… I’ve been burned by skipping that part 😅
Decent chocolate cake, but mine domed a lot and the web lines kinda sank. Still tasted great—maybe I should level the layers next time.
It tastes good but was wayyyyy too sweet for my liking. Next time, I’ll reduce the sugar.
why would u use boiling water?? this sounds impossible, no way it works!
Boiling water is actually common in cake recipes! It helps dissolve the cocoa and makes the cake super moist. Give it a try!
Spiderwebs?! This is just a cake. But it looks cute! I might try it.
I tried the toothpick thing and it dragged through the icing too much. I think I overfilled the spiral. Maybe let it set 5 minutes first?
This looks kinda complicated. I’m not sure my baking skills are good enough for this. Anyone tried making it without boiling water?
This recipe is simple but it’s not forgiving. If your eggs/milk aren’t room temp the batter gets weird. Learned that the hard way.
I was skeptical about the boiling water part, but wow. The cake is super chocolatey and the texture is nice. Spiderweb top is a little fiddly, but it’s worth it.
It’s cute but kinda chaotic—like why boiling water? Also I forgot to cool before piping and now it looks like a spilled web lol.
Hah I get you 😅 The boiling water makes it *super* thin, but it helps bloom the cocoa and keeps it really moist. Also yeah—cooling before piping is key. A spilled web is still very on-theme though 😂
Okay but why boiling water? That can’t be right—doesn’t it mess up the eggs?
Isn’t chocolate on chocolate too much? Lol. I like simple cakes, not these fancy ones.
Not gonna lie, my cake was a bit dry after cutting into it the next day. Could be I baked it too long or my oven runs hot.
So easy to make! I’m no baker, and even I nailed it. Thanks for this recipe!
I’m impressed! This does seem like an easy recipe. Can’t wait to try it myself!
Sounds good, but is it hard to make? I don’t bake much. I just want to impress my friends.
It’s actually not that hard! Just follow the steps and you’ll be fine. Your friends will be impressed for sure!
This cake is absolutely delicious! Easy to make and looks impressive too! My kids loved it! 🍰
Easy recipe but I messed up the spiderweb. Didn’t know white chocolate would melt so fast!
You melted the white chocolate too fast? It shouldn’t be that quick. You gotta be careful with the heat! Just try again, you’ll nail it! 😁
Don’t worry! The spiderweb can be tricky. I had the same problem at first, but practice makes perfect. 😄
Made it for a Halloween party and got compliments all night. Cocoa flavor is rich and the texture is pretty tender. I did bake 2-3 minutes longer though.
Not gonna lie, I don’t love cocoa + sugar this much. It came out very sweet and dark, almost like a brownie cake. If you like that, you’ll be happy.
I used dark chocolate cocoa and it was kinda bitter. Next time I’ll maybe cut the cocoa slightly or add a sweeter icing. Web looked cool regardless.
I followed the instructions step by step but my cake looked nothing like the photo. Disappointed.
I think 2 cups granulated sugar sounds like a lot? Mine came out sweeter than I expected, and the cocoa taste was a bit lost. Spiderweb looks cute, but I’d reduce sugar next time.
I’m surprised it came out that sweet—mine tastes pretty balanced with the baking soda/baking powder. Spiderweb design is the best part though. Did you measure sugar by volume or weigh it? (Spoons can pack!)
Totally agree—2 cups sugar is a lot for 3/4 cup cocoa. I made it once and it was almost too sweet, like dessert-overkill 😅. Next time I’m cutting down to 1 1/2 cups and using a deeper cocoa powder.
This sounds dangerously good 😄 The batter being thin didn’t bother me—cake turned out super moist. The spiderweb top is a fun touch too!
Right?! That thin batter thing scared me at first, but the texture is always so moist. Spiderweb top looks fancy too 😄
Okay this is adorable 😭 The spiderweb effect is super creative. I love that the batter is thin—makes it feel like it’ll come out extra fudgy.
I had a hard time with the icing part. It didn’t turn out like the picture. Can someone explain how to make the spiderweb?
Yum! Yum! Best cake! 🥳
idk i followed it but my cake came out a little dry, maybe overbaked? still cute tho. spiderweb was kinda clumpy
Ahh that happens sometimes—30-35 min can be a bit over for some ovens. Next time I’d start checking around 28-30 and pull it the moment the toothpick is *just* clean. Also thin batter can dry out if it bakes too long.
Spiderweb clumpy makes sense if the white chocolate wasn’t fully melted/smooth or the piping bag had tiny bits. I usually microwave it in short bursts and stir really well before piping.
This looks so fun and dramatic—my kids would love the spiderweb top. The batter being thin honestly made me nervous, but it baked up great.
I tried this but was really confused by the boiling water part. It made my batter super runny. Maybe I did it wrong?
My kids loved decorating it! Super fun activity, and they ate it all up. Thanks for the recipe!
This cake was a hit at our Halloween party! So chocolatey and fun to make. Everyone loved the spiderweb design!
Ok but why is there boiling water AND baking soda/baking powder? Seems like it could turn out watery. I might try it anyway but with less water.
My grandma makes a similar cake but with peanut butter. I prefer that one.
Not gonna lie, boiling water in cake batter always scares me a bit. Like will it ruin the eggs or make it gritty? Still, I guess people do it…
Honestly, I don’t get all the fuss. It’s just a chocolate cake. My grandma’s cake is way better!
Chocolate cake is chocolate cake. Don’t know why people make such a big deal. My mom’s is just a mix and still better!
I get what you’re saying, but this cake looks amazing! It’s not just about taste, it’s about presentation too. 👏
This cake is absolutely amazing! So rich and chocolaty, everyone loved it at the party!
My kids would demolish this. The web design is the best part—looks fancy but it’s just toothpick science lol.
I made this for Halloween, and it was a hit! Everyone was impressed with my decorating skills! Definitely making it again!
Hmmm, sounds good but I ain’t sure if my decorating skills are up to par. What if I mess it up?
That sounds awesome! I love when people love what I make. What kind of decorations did you use besides the spiderweb?
Spiderweb cake? Creepy but cool! I made it for Halloween and everyone was impressed. I’m not even a baker! 😄
This cake is absolutely delicious! I made it for my son’s birthday, and it was a hit. The chocolate flavor is rich and perfect!
Spiderweb decoration is a bit tricky. I ended up with a blob instead! But cake was good.
I don’t trust baking soda + baking powder at those amounts. Could come out bitter or weirdly textured if overmixed. Has anyone measured carefully?
I measured those exact amounts and it came out rich, not bitter. I also only mixed the dry+wet for the listed time—any more and it might get weird.
Honestly I think the “bitter” feeling is more about cocoa quality than the baking soda/powder. I’ve used the same 1.5 tsp each and never tasted bitterness.
Too much sugar for my liking. I would suggest less sugar next time.
Less sugar? Nah, it’s a chocolate cake! It needs to be sweet! Can’t skimp on flavor, come on.
I totally agree! I used half the sugar last time and it was so much better. Sweetness can be a bit overkill.
The spiderweb thing is kinda cool! I added some gummy spiders for effect. So festive!
Too much sugar for my taste… like 2 cups is wild. But I’ll probably reduce it next time. Cake still might be amazing though.
Totally agree—2 cups sugar is a lot. I usually cut it down and still get a super rich chocolate flavor.
Lol I thought ‘spiderweb’ meant actual spider webs. I was ready to run! But this cake is delicious!
Haha that’s hilarious! I was scared too until I read the recipe! This cake looks so good! Can’t wait to try it!
Sooo gooood!
Honestly, I don’t see the hype. It’s just chocolate cake with some icing. I make better cakes with less fuss. 😒
I don’t understand the boiling water part. Why boiling? Seems weird to me.
The batter being thin sounded scary but it worked! Mine baked closer to 35 min. Chocolate flavor is rich, not too sweet.
The cake was okay but didn’t rise much. I probably messed up somewhere. I can’t bake so well. But the spiderweb is cute!
This cake is amazing! It was a big hit at my Halloween party. Thanks for sharing!
I don’t like chocolate that much but my husband loved it. So, 4 stars!
I get that! Chocolate’s not for everyone, but glad your husband enjoyed it! Maybe try a vanilla cake next time?
I thought the spiderweb looked cool, but honestly, the cake was too sweet for my taste. Next time, I might cut down the sugar a bit.
The taste is great, but mine domed a lot—maybe I overmixed or didn’t level the pans? Still looked cute after the web design hid some of the unevenness.
Is 1 cup of boiling water really necessary? Seems like a lot…
5 stars! The best chocolate cake ever. So rich and moist. You gotta try this!
Mine definitely looked more like a messy hurricane than a spiderweb, but it still tasted great. Maybe I need a steadier hand with the toothpick lol.
I tried making this but my cake didn’t rise properly… I think my baking powder was old. Looks good though!
Made this for Halloween and it honestly looks incredible. The thin batter surprised me but the cake baked up super moist. Spiderweb effect was a little tricky, but the toothpick method worked great!
Not gonna lie, “spiderweb chocolate cake” made me think it would be complicated… but the ingredients are normal. Kinda impressed.
Same! The name sounds like it’d require special gear, but it’s really just standard pantry stuff. Love that.
Yummy!!! 😋
The boiling water step always freaks me out but it works! Cake came out moist, and the cocoa taste is solid. Web lines were pretty easy once chilled.
Right?? The boiling water step sounds like it’s gonna ruin everything, but somehow it makes the cocoa taste way deeper. Love that it stayed moist!
The instructions are super clear and step-by-step. Thin batter freaked me out, but it turned out moist and chocolatey for sure.
Yes!! I was nervous about the thin batter too, but it was *so* fudgy after baking. Step-by-step definitely helps.
Thin batter still sounds wrong to me lol. I think I’d bake it longer though—30 mins felt underdone for my oven.
Not sure about the boiling water part… I was worried it would curdle everything. It didn’t, but the batter was *very* thin and I spilled a bit. Flavor is good, presentation is fun.
Yum! Made it for Halloween and everyone loved it! Pretty easy to follow the recipe. Thanks for sharing!
Idk… 2 cups sugar seems insane. My cake tasted almost like straight cocoa syrup. I’d cut sugar next time and maybe add coffee or salt to balance.
What kind of odd combination is this? Chocolate cake with a spiderweb on it? I don’t get it. But to each their own, I guess.
I was skeptical about the 30-35 minutes since the batter is so runny, but it came out fine. Spiderweb looked amazing once I piped thicker lines.
The batter is gonna be like soup, right? I’m scared I’ll ruin it. But if the toothpick test is correct, I guess I’ll follow it.
Yeah, it sounds kinda watery, but that’s normal—boiling water makes it thin on purpose. If the toothpick comes out clean, you’re good.
Not gonna lie, my “spiderweb” looks more like a mess. I dragged the toothpick too far and it smeared. Still tastes good though, so whatever.
Pretty good! I had to bake closer to 40 minutes because my toothpick never came out clean at 35. Also, I used white chocolate chips and the piping was harder, but it worked.
The texture is super moist—like, almost brownie-ish. Presentation-wise, it’s giving Halloween bakery. 10/10 would make again.
That “brownie-ish” moistness is exactly what I want in a chocolate cake 😍 Halloween bakery is the move!
Wow this is so good! Perfect balance of chocolaty and moist! My new favorite recipe.
I tried this recipe and it was a disaster! The cake collapsed and was not moist at all. 😩
I used dark chocolate instead of cocoa once and it didn’t taste right. Cocoa + boiling water is the only way it ever works for me.
5 stars cuz it sounds like cake + cocoa + spooky. I don’t bake so I just assume it works.
I’m giving it 4 stars—haven’t tried yet but the ingredient list looks super standard. The boiling water part though… sounds suspiciously like instant chocolate pudding??
Okay but the “spiderweb” vibe is so cute 😍 I love how thin batter + boiling water makes it extra fudgy. Making this for Halloween 100%.
The web design was a mess for me 😅 my toothpick dragged too deep and I tore the icing lines. I’ll try again with thicker icing or less pressure.
2 eggs? only 1 cup milk? This cake feels like it’s missing something. Tbh I didn’t trust the recipe and I’m not convinced the cocoa amount is right.
Wow. This is creepy-cute. My kids went feral for it. 😄
Too much sugar. Spiderweb looks hard to do. I think it will be dry. But maybe I’m wrong.
I get the “too much sugar” worry, but in cakes it usually balances the cocoa and keeps it moist. Also the batter is thin on purpose—don’t panic, it bakes up fine.
Spiderweb cake sounds cool, but I’m not a piping person lol. Could I just drizzle the white chocolate and skip the toothpick lines?
