A delicious pasta dish made with penne pasta and a creamy vodka sauce.
Ingredients
- 1 pound penne pasta
- 1/4 cup vodka
- 1 can (28 ounces) crushed tomatoes
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh basil
- 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Cook the penne pasta according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
- In a large saucepan, heat the vodka over medium heat until it starts to simmer. Add the crushed tomatoes and stir to combine.
- Reduce the heat to low and simmer the sauce for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Stir in the heavy cream, Parmesan cheese, basil, red pepper flakes, salt, and pepper. Simmer for an additional 5 minutes.
- Add the cooked penne pasta to the sauce and toss to coat. Cook for an additional 5 minutes, until the pasta is heated through.
- Serve the Penne alla Vodka hot, garnished with additional Parmesan cheese and basil, if desired.
