Mummy Hot Dogs are a fun and spooky treat made by wrapping hot dogs in crescent roll dough to resemble classic mummies. Perfect for Halloween festivities or a themed party.
Mummy Hot Dogs are a playful, spooky, and irresistibly delicious treat that’s perfect for Halloween parties, family gatherings, or festive snacks. Wrapped in strips of dough to resemble little mummies, these savory bites are as fun to look at as they are to eat. They capture the Halloween spirit without being overly complicated, making them a favorite for both kids and adults.
The charm of mummy hot dogs comes from their clever yet simple design. Each hot dog is wrapped with thin strips of dough, usually crescent roll dough, puff pastry, or pizza dough, to mimic the look of ancient mummy bandages. Once baked, the dough turns golden and flaky while the hot dogs stay juicy inside, creating a perfect combination of textures.
Adding little eyes is what truly brings the mummies to life. Small dots of mustard, ketchup, or edible candy eyes placed between the dough strips give each mummy a quirky personality. Some look surprised, others silly or spooky, which adds an extra layer of fun, especially for kids who love picking their favorite faces.
These treats are not only adorable but also practical for parties. They’re easy to make, easy to serve, and require no utensils, perfect finger food for mingling guests. They also pair well with a variety of dips like ketchup, mustard, cheese sauce, or spicy mayo, adding extra flavor to each bite.
Mummy Hot Dogs are a fantastic kitchen activity for families. Kids can help with wrapping the dough and placing the eyes, turning prep time into a fun Halloween tradition. Whether served as appetizers, snacks, or part of a spooky dinner, these little mummies are guaranteed to steal the spotlight at any Halloween gathering.

My dough burnt but the kids still ate them, haha. Good recipe.
These were kinda lame honestly. Didn’t taste special at all. Where’s the flavor?
Mmmm! So good, but a warning, my mom said they were too much bread.
I’ve seen how to make these on TikTok, but I didn’t know they were so easy! Thx!
Yum!! these are really great for parties! Everyone loved them.
Tried making these but the dough wouldn’t stick. Any tips?
Easy and fast recipe, but what if I don’t have candy eyes?
Honestly, I prefer pizza rolls over these, just sayin’.
Quick and easy Halloween vibe. I used the whole tube and had just enough strips. Next time I’ll leave a bit bigger “face” space for the eyes.
My dough burned while my hot dog was still cold… not sure if I did it wrong or what. But still edible.
These are the cutest! My kids loved them and they were super easy to do.
I’m glad your kids enjoyed them! They’re perfect for Halloween parties. 🎃
So easy and fast! I added some cheese inside before wrapping, yumm!
These are so cute, my kids loved them! Perfect for Halloween.
These look amazing! But are they really healthy for kids?
These are super cute! My kids loved them and they were so easy to make! Perfect for Halloween!
Mmmm… hot dogs. Loved it, simple and tasty! 😋
These look awesome! I can’t wait to try them at our Halloween party! 🎉
Lol, my mummy hot dogs turned into zombie hot dogs. They look so scary. 😂
Not as good as I thought. The dough was too doughy, needed to be crunchier.
My dog ate the hotdogs before I could wrap them 🤦♂️. But still, how creative!
I didn’t have candy eyes so I just drew faces on with mustard. 😂
Made this for a party! They disappeared fast! 🎉
These are so cute! Perfect for Halloween parties, my kids loved them!
So simple! I just used some leftover dough and it turned out great! 👌
Glad it worked out for you! Leftover dough is a genius move! 😄
I dunno, they look kinda weird to me. Hot dogs wrapped in dough? Not sure about this one.
I don’t know about this. Seems a bit strange with hot dogs and rolls.
Mmmmm, my family devoured these! Next time I’ll buy more candy eyes for fun!
Sounds delish! Can’t wait to try it with extra eyes like you said. Fun idea!
I don’t understand how this is a recipe? Just hot dogs in dough?? Come on!
It’s cute for Halloween! Not everything has to be gourmet, you know?
But it’s soooo easy and fun! Kids love it!
I couldn’t cut thin strips without making a mess. Also I think I used too much dough and the hot dogs felt cramped? Flavor was fine.
Ugh, I feel you 😅 I always make a mess with that dough too. I’ve found it helps to cut the strips after chilling the dough 5–10 min, and using a light hand so you don’t overpack them—otherwise they get “cramped” and don’t brown right.
Maybe your dough was a bit too thick. Also, I’ve heard you’re supposed to leave a bigger gap for the face—like cut the strips wider so there’s more room? My first try was kinda cramped too, but still tasty. Try less dough per hot dog next time.
Just 5 ingredients? Can’t argue with that! good job.
Hot dogs? Seriously? How do you even get this idea? Pass.
Not my thing. Hot dog should not be covered in dough!! Sounds wrong.
Super easy to make! I added cheese inside before wrapping, delicious!
Perfect for Halloween! I added ketchup for extra ‘blood’ lol!
Mine didn’t brown as much after 15 minutes. I think my oven runs cool. Still tasty though—crispy outside, warm inside.
Amazingly easy recipe! I had some dough left over so I made a few with cheese inside too. Yum!
Super cute idea for Halloween! My kids loved helping wrap the mummies. Will make again!
This seems easy but, like, wouldn’t the dough be super hard to wrap? Just saying.
What a fun activity! I love that your kids helped. It’s great bonding time. 🌟
Really easy to make! I put mustard on the side and it was delicious! 🌭
Not gonna lie, 12-15 minutes felt short. I cooked mine closer to 18 and the dough was way crispier. Still good though.
These are adorable! My kids loved helping wrap the hot dogs. Perfect for Halloween parties! 🎉
These are so cute! I can’t wait to make them for my kids’ Halloween party. Thanks for the idea! 🎃
I dunno, it seems kinda silly to wrap hot dogs. Just grill them, right? 🤔
Didn’t turn out how I thought. The dough burnt before the hot dogs were cooked. 😩
These are so cute! I made them for my kids and they loved ’em! 🎃
I dunno, they kinda look weird. Hot dogs in dough? Is that really a thing?
Aww, that’s awesome! Such a fun idea for Halloween! 🎉
