Grilled Beef Skewers with Bell Peppers and Onions

May 8, 2024

There’s something timeless about food on a stick, especially when it’s hot off the grill. Grilled Beef Skewers with Bell Peppers and Onions are a backyard favorite, offering the perfect mix of smoky, juicy, and savory in every bite. Whether you’re planning a summer barbecue, a casual dinner, or looking for a meal that’s as fun to eat as it is to make, these skewers never disappoint.

The key to a great beef skewer is all in the prep. Choosing a cut like sirloin or ribeye ensures the meat stays tender and juicy on the grill. A simple marinade, something like olive oil, garlic, lemon juice, soy sauce, or your favorite seasoning blend, adds flavor without overpowering the natural taste of the beef.

Threaded between the meat are chunks of bell peppers and onions, which not only add vibrant color but also a sweet, slightly charred taste that pairs beautifully with the beef. As they grill, the vegetables soften and caramelize, absorbing the savory juices from the meat and giving off that irresistible smoky aroma.

These skewers are easy to prep ahead of time and cook quickly, making them ideal for feeding a crowd or whipping up a fast weeknight dinner. Serve them straight off the grill, or slide everything onto a plate over rice, couscous, or warm flatbread. A dollop of tzatziki, chimichurri, or even just a squeeze of lemon can elevate the flavors even more.

Grilled Beef Skewers with Bell Peppers and Onions are the kind of dish that brings people together. They’re satisfying, customizable, and always a hit. Whether you’re grilling for two or twenty, these skewers are a go-to for good reason, simple ingredients, bold flavors, and that unbeatable grill-side experience.

They looked good, but I don’t know. Beef on BBQ, isn’t that a bit too heavy for summer? Just saying.

Maybe I’m just slow, but it took me way longer too! Practice makes perfect, right? 😅

  10. User avatar jesus.davis81 says:

It was okay I guess, but the beef was a bit tough for my liking. Maybe I overcooked it?

    1. User avatar Princess Zelda says:

      4 stars
I totally get what you mean! Beef can be really tough if it’s overcooked. Maybe try adjusting the cooking time next time? It might help!

    2. 3 stars
It wasn’t that tough for me. I thought it was pretty good. Are you sure you followed all the steps? 🤔

So good!!! Added BBQ sauce for a lil’ sweetness. Yumm!!

Why do people insist on grilling beef? It’s a teriyaki chicken world! 🤨

    1. 5 stars
Grilling beef is just the best! It gets that smoky flavor that chicken just can’t match. Just saying! 😋

    2. 4 stars
I dunno, but beef skewers sounds so good! Chicken is cool and all, but we gotta mix it up, right? 🤷‍♂️

  15. User avatar lula.balistreri says:

    2 stars
Not sure why you need so many types of peppers. Just use one, right? Less work.

  16. User avatar meaghan.harvey says:

  18. 2 stars
I must’ve done something wrong. My skewers were dry and bland. Not a fan.

    1. User avatar basementDweller says:

      4 stars
Maybe you overcooked them? 10-12 mins is what the recipe says but beef can dry out fast! Did you use lean meat?

  19. User avatar julio.purdy84 says:

    5 stars
I usually hate veggies, but these grilled peppers were awsome! Who knew? 🤷‍♂️

  20. User avatar Ryan Shenlong says:

This is a great recipe but I substituted chicken for beef because I don’t eat red meat. Still turned out yum!

    1. 4 stars
Glad to hear it turned out yum! Chicken is a good sub, but you might miss out on that beefy flavor. I’d try it both ways!

  28. 5 stars
Yum! I added some mushrooms too. Just incredible!

  29. 2 stars
Skewers are fine, but I don’t get why people love grilling so much. Just eat it raw!

  30. User avatar smartestRedditor says:

    4 stars
I don’t eat beef, what else can I use? Chicken maybe?

  31. User avatar lionel.considine29 says:

    4 stars
I don’t eat beef, but I tried this with chicken instead and it was delish! Just watch the cooking time so it doesn’t dry out.

  32. 2 stars
I don’t get why there’s so much oil in this. Isn’t it bad for you?

    1. User avatar orlando.metz says:

      5 stars
Olive oil is actually really healthy! It’s full of good fats. Don’t worry too much about it.

  33. User avatar porsche.frami says:

    3 stars
Not sure if I should trust this recipe. Looks too simple. Are beef skewers really that easy? 🤔

  34. User avatar hortensia.dickens34 says:

Grilling is easy for me, just don’t follow instruction. Good luck to everyone who tries!

  35. User avatar melodie.borer2005 says:

    5 stars
Simple and fun to make! My whole family got involved, even my 5-year-old!

  36. 3 stars
Not gonna lie, I got distracted and marinated maybe 10 minutes… still okay, but the flavors weren’t as deep. Also my grill ran hot so 10-12 minutes was too long—beef came out a little overdone. Will try again and watch timing.

  37. 5 stars
Yummy!!! I added some mushrooms too. Can’t believe how good this is. 😋

    1. User avatar Pizpot Gargravarr says:

  41. User avatar brad.sanford1953 says:

    2 stars
Grilling these was a disaster for me. The meat got stuck to the grill. Ugh.

    1. User avatar chet.bogisich says:

      4 stars
I’ve had that happen too! Try using non-stick spray next time or keep the grill really hot. It helps!

  42. 3 stars
Grilled the peppers too long, they burnt, lol. Next time, I’ll keep an eye!

  43. 5 stars
So good! I used chicken instead of beef, still turned out amazing!

  44. 2 stars
These didn’t turn out well for me. The beef was tough and the peppers were undercooked. Maybe I did something wrong?

    1. 4 stars
I’m sorry to hear that! It could be the beef was overcooked if it turned out tough. Did you use sirloin? That’s usually pretty tender!

    2. 3 stars
Maybe you didn’t grill them long enough? I always grill mine for like 15-20 min to get everything nice and soft.

  45. User avatar melinda.gerlach says:

    5 stars
These are the best skewers I ever made! Family loved them! 😍

  46. 3 stars
Not everyone likes beef you know? Maybe try this with tofu or chicken??

  47. User avatar katharina.boyer says:

    3 stars
This was OK, but the beef turned out tough. I think I marinated for too long? 🤔

  48. User avatar efren.russel says:

    2 stars
These skewers were raw! I followed the steps but didn’t turn it enough.

    1. User avatar Knights of Hyrule says:

      4 stars
Maybe try using a meat thermometer next time? It helps a lot with getting it cooked right!

  49. User avatar colene.cartwright52 says:

Best skewers I’ve made! The bell peppers are so colorful and tasty. 10/10!

Not bad, but the beef was a bit tough. Maybe I overcooked it? Still tasty, though.

    1. User avatar hwa.konopelski says:

      4 stars
Yeah, overcooking can make beef tough! Next time, try checking it earlier. Glad you enjoyed the taste, though!

  55. 4 stars
I thought my beef would fall off the skewer? The onions really hold it together lol!

  56. 5 stars
This recipe is the best! My kids loved it! Even the picky eater ate it all.

  57. User avatar deana.rogahn52 says:

    2 stars
I burnt mine, but it’s probably my fault. Still tasted ok. lol.

  58. 4 stars
Grilled all the veggies with the beef, sooo good! But why add garlic? Makes my breath stink!

  59. User avatar stuart.davis46 says:

    2 stars
Can you even grill onions? Mine just turned to mush, lol.

    1. User avatar tony.gerlach says:

      3 stars
Grilling onions is weird, right? I just put them in a pan. They don’t turn to mush that way!

    2. User avatar denisse.pagac58 says:

      5 stars
You can totally grill onions! Just make sure they’re in bigger chunks, or maybe even use a grill basket. They taste amazing when done right!

  60. User avatar ArabianNights says:

    3 stars
I might try this but not sure if beef is really that healthy. What about chicken instead?
