Hot dogs are already a go-to comfort food, but stuffed hot dogs take things up a notch. By loading the inside with melty cheese, savory extras, or spicy surprises, you turn a simple snack into something indulgent, creative, and seriously satisfying. Whether you’re grilling out, hosting a casual gathering, or just switching up a weekday dinner, stuffed hot dogs are a fun and flavorful choice.
The concept is simple: take a classic hot dog, slice it down the center (without cutting all the way through), and fill it with your choice of ingredients before grilling or baking it to perfection. Cheese is the most common stuffing – cheddar, mozzarella, or pepper jack melt beautifully and add richness to each bite. You can also get creative with add-ins like jalapeños, sautéed onions, bacon bits, or even a smear of barbecue sauce or mustard inside the dog before it’s cooked.
Once stuffed, the hot dog is often wrapped in bacon or placed in a bun with extra toppings like coleslaw, crispy onions, or pickle slices. The result is a full-on flavor bomb, crunchy, gooey, savory, and completely over the top in the best way.
Stuffed hot dogs are great for feeding a crowd because they’re easy to customize. Set up a topping and filling station and let everyone build their own. They also cook quickly and work well on the grill, in the oven, or even on a stovetop skillet.
This is one of those dishes that doesn’t take itself too seriously, and that’s what makes it great. It’s playful, nostalgic, and packed with comfort food appeal. Whether you’re making them for kids, friends, or yourself, stuffed hot dogs are a guaranteed crowd-pleaser.

Tried it last night, it was a hit at the party! Will definitely make again.
What even is this? Hot dogs are meant to be grilled, not stuffed!
Grilling is great, but trying new things is what cooking is all about! This sounds interesting to me!
Nah, this is just wrong! Hot dogs should never ever be stuffed. What next, pizza with no cheese?
Made this for my boyfriend and he ate 3! Definitely a winner.
My kids loved this! Easy to make and fun to eat. Though I forgot to add hot sauce. Next time for sure. 😊
Glad to hear your kids enjoyed it! It’s a fun twist on hot dogs for sure. Hot sauce sounds like a great addition! 🌭
Yummy!!! Hot dogs!!! 😋
Umm, sounds a bit weird. Hot dogs with stuffing? Really? 🤔
I love hot dogs! This recipe sounds great! Can’t wait to try it! 😍
Why on earth would you ruin a good hot dog with stuffing? Sounds messy!
Hot dogs with stuffing? Is that even a thing? I’m not convinced. :/
Not what I expected. Hot dogs and tomato soup? Weird combo.
I know, right? It sounds strange but it’s actually pretty good! 😄
Easy to make! Took me 15 mins, but my dog didn’t like it. *shrugs*
I’m skeptical about the tomato soup/tomato sauce combo with hot dogs, but I guess it could be like a sloppy-joe vibe. How long do you bake it though? The instructions stop too early.
5 stars! My kids loved it, even my picky eater!
Love this! I used leftover stuffing from Thanksgiving. So delicious!!!
Hot dogs don’t need fancy stuff. Just ketchup please!
This sounds so wild! I never thought of stuffing hot dogs. Can’t wait to try it!
Can you even cook hot dogs? They’re already cooked! This seems like combining things that shouldn’t go together.
I think it’s a fun idea! Hot dogs are versatile. Why not give it a try?
What do you do with the tomato soup? Just eat it on the side? Confused.
Yeah, the tomato soup is usually like a dip or something to enjoy alongside the stuffed hot dogs. Just pour it in a bowl and go for it!
Hot dogs are already perfect! Why mess with them? This was just too weird for my taste!
Weird?! That sounds amazing! I love trying new things with hot dogs. You people just don’t have taste!
I totally get where you’re coming from! Hot dogs have their own magic, and changing them feels wrong. But hey, some people like to experiment!
Not gonna lie, this sounds kinda gross to me. Hot dogs are already processed—stuffing them with breadcrumbs and tomato soup feels like overkill.
Easy peasy! I used rice stuffing and it turned out amazing. Recommend!
Not sure about hot dogs being stuffed with rice. Seems kinda weird. 🤷♂️
Glad it worked out for you! Rice stuffing sounds like a unique twist. I might give it a try too!
This is a new way to eat hot dogs I never thought of! Yum!
I tried something similar but used breadcrumbs like you said. The tomato soup made it taste almost like sloppy joe vibes. Pretty good!
This recipe is crazy good! Never thought to stuff hot dogs like this! 😍
I hadn’t thought about that either! Can’t wait to try this 😄
Could you clarify the tomato soup/tomato sauce part? The instructions only mention oven and stuffing the hot dogs, nothing about baking with the sauces.
I made this for my kids and they loved it! Super easy and they loved the flavors.
This sounds super fun! I bet my kids will love it too! Thanks for sharing!
This sounds nasty tbh. Stuffed hot dogs? Nah. Just give me a plain one with mustard and ketchup.
Stuffed hot dog? LOL, I thought this was a joke. But I might just try it! 🤣
I made these for my kids and they gobbled them up! Will make again for sure. 👍
Hate to break it to you, but hot dogs aren’t healthy at all. What’s next, stuffing them with candy? 🤦♂️
These hot dogs were a hit at my BBQ! Everyone loved them! 😍
BBQ? Hot dogs? Nah, ain’t nobody got time for fancy things like stuffing. Just grill ’em plain! 👎
I’m so glad to hear that! They sound delicious. 😋
I am not a fan of tomato soup in my hot dogs. Sounds gross to me.
