Fruit Chaat

September 1, 2023

Fruit chaat isn’t your typical fruit salad. It’s bold, zesty, and bursting with layers of flavor that elevate simple fresh fruits into something crave-worthy. This South Asian street food favorite combines sweet, sour, spicy, and salty elements to create a refreshing and vibrant dish that’s perfect for summer snacking, Iftar platters, or even light breakfasts.

At its core, fruit chaat is a mix of seasonal fruits – apples, bananas, oranges, grapes, pomegranate seeds, and mangoes are all popular choices. What sets it apart is the unexpected addition of spices. A sprinkle of chaat masala, a pinch of black salt, freshly ground black pepper, and a squeeze of lemon juice turn the dish from sweet to sensational. These spices enhance the natural sweetness of the fruit while adding depth and heat that tickles the taste buds.

One of the best things about fruit chaat is its versatility. You can make it with whatever fruit you have on hand, and adjust the spices to suit your taste. Some versions also include boiled potatoes, cucumbers, or even chickpeas for extra texture and substance. It’s also naturally vegan and gluten-free, making it a great option for gatherings or when you’re feeding a mixed crowd.

Fruit chaat is usually served chilled, and the longer it sits, the more the flavors meld together. It’s incredibly hydrating and nutrient-dense, loaded with vitamins, fiber, and antioxidants. You get the sweetness of the fruits, the tang from lemon, a kick of heat from the pepper, and that addictive savoriness from the chaat masala and black salt.

This isn’t just a fruit salad – it’s an experience. Serve it in bowls with toothpicks or skewers for a fun party appetizer, or enjoy it on a hot afternoon as a healthy pick-me-up. However you serve it, fruit chaat proves that with just a few spices, even everyday fruits can become extraordinary.

Tried to make this but forgot the fruits. Ended up with just a bowl of spices 🤦‍♂️. Lesson learned.

I dunno, fruit and spices? Sounds weird. Can fruits even be spicy? 🤔

  3. User avatar andre.little80 says:

This is the best fruit salad I’ve ever made! The spices really bring out the flavors. 5 stars!

    1. 2 stars
I dunno about that. Spices in fruit salad? Seems weird to me. I just like my fruit plain. 🤔

  4. User avatar NAFO.SUPREMACY says:

    5 stars
This sounds so refreshing—like a classic chaat vibe but with all my favorite fruits. The combination of black salt + roasted cumin is exactly what I crave. Can’t wait to try it with pomegranate too!

My grandma makes fruit chaat too. She uses different fruits tho.

That sounds great! Fruit chaat is sooo versatile. What fruits does she use?

    2. User avatar Meriadoc Brandybuck says:

      2 stars
I dunno about adding all those spices. My chaat is just fruit and salt, easy peasy!

  6. 5 stars
This is such a refreshing recipe! Love the mix of fruits and spices. Will definitely make it again.

  7. User avatar Colin the Security Robot says:

Yummmmm!!! Best fruit chaat I ever had! Gotta make this every summer.

  8. User avatar abdul.smith89 says:

Black salt + pineapple = weird at first, but then it works. I also used lime instead of lemon because that’s what I had. Came out great.

  9. User avatar preston.pfeffer39 says:

    3 stars
The ingredient list is great, but the instructions are super short. Like… how much mint/coriander should I chop? I just eyeballed it and hoped for the best 😅

  10. User avatar elizabet.veum1971 says:

    3 stars
It didn’t turn out like I thought. I thought it’d be sweeter. Maybe less spice next time.

  11. 1 star
Fruit + spice = confusion? Just give me a banana 😂

  12. User avatar arnetta.johnston2001 says:

    3 stars
Mine turned out too spicy. What did I do wrong?

  13. User avatar fannie.christiansen48 says:

    2 stars
Why so many spices though? Like, could I just use lemon and regular salt? Also the fruit mix sounds expensive.

  14. User avatar Dan Streetmentioner says:

    5 stars
Just threw all the ingredients together and it turned out great! Who knew fruits could be spiced up like that? Yum! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

  15. User avatar Feral Falmer says:

    5 stars
The ingredient list is a lot, but it’s worth it. I used leftover pineapple and it still tasted great. 10/10 for summer.

    1. User avatar colin.borer2015 says:

      5 stars
Yes!! Fruit chaat with leftover pineapple is such a win. The roasted nuts definitely take it to another level 😋

  16. User avatar kyla.hirthe2020 says:

    5 stars
Wow, this fruit chaat is soooo good! Loved the spices. 5 stars!

    1. User avatar shellie.schulist17 says:

      5 stars
Totally agree! I made it last week and now I can’t stop eating it. Yum!

  17. 4 stars
Not gonna lie, the ingredient list looks a bit intense—like why so many spices for fruit? But I tried it anyway and it was actually tasty. The peanuts add nice crunch.

  18. User avatar robbin.tromp says:

    5 stars
Wait… roasted cashews AND almonds AND peanuts in 1 bowl?? That’s dangerously good. My kids would devour this.

    1. User avatar deidra.gibson85 says:

      4 stars
I mean… roasted nuts with fruit chaats is tasty, but 1 tbsp each (peanuts, almonds, cashews) in a bowl of fruit seems a lil underwhelming? Still, black salt + chaat masala is the star. Might try more cashews next time.

    2. User avatar Gonzalo Mayer says:

      5 stars
Right?? The roasted nuts make the whole thing feel like a real snack. 😄 And the kids will absolutely go for it—crispy bits + sweet fruit = instant win.

  19. User avatar otha.kuphal48 says:

    5 stars
This is the BEST fruit chaat I’ve ever made! So fresh and tangy! 🥳

  20. 4 stars
I tried it with oranges and grapes only, no pomegranate, and it was still good. Mint + coriander is a winning combo. Simple!

    1. User avatar Future Trunks says:

      4 stars
I did something similar but I forgot the black salt 😅 and it still tasted “meh” at first… then I added a pinch of salt and cumin and it worked. Fruit chaat is kinda forgiving, huh?

    2. User avatar noe.murazik says:

      5 stars
Yes!! Mint + coriander really does make it taste so fresh. I usually add a bit extra lemon too—great tip skipping pomegranate if it’s not available.

  21. 3 stars
Easy recipe, but mine ended up a bit mushy. Maybe I should have used fresher fruits.

  22. User avatar estella.ritchie86 says:

    2 stars
I think the combination of fruits is too random. Would apples really mix well with chili powder? Seems odd.

  23. User avatar bobbie.senger40 says:

    5 stars
YUM!😋 This fruit salad made my day! Perfect for summer barbecues!

  24. User avatar ArabianNights says:

    3 stars
Fruits and nuts? Sounds great! But this is more of a snack, right? Idk if it counts as a recipe.

  25. User avatar quincy.mckenzie33 says:

    5 stars
I tried it with different fruits and it was still amazing! Recommend!

  26. User avatar tyree.johnson82 says:

    1 star
Fruit and spices? Isn’t that weird? I prefer my fruits plain.

  27. User avatar roland.hudson says:

    3 stars
I kinda rushed the mixing step and my lemon juice wasn’t evenly spread—some bites were bland. Next time I’ll coat better, but overall it’s a nice chaat-style twist.

    1. User avatar herman.schuppe0 says:

      5 stars
Totally makes sense—lemon juice uneven = some bites taste plain. Next time I’d drizzle in slowly while tossing, so every piece gets coated. Glad you still liked the chaat-style twist!

  28. User avatar MAGA2024.Trumpster says:

    5 stars
This tastes like a proper Indian street-style chaat! The mix of black salt + chaat masala is magic. I used slightly less chili and it still popped. Will make again for sure.

    1. 5 stars
Yes!! Black salt + chaat masala really takes it to that street stall vibe. I’m craving this now 😄

  29. 5 stars
This fruit chaat is AMAZING! So fresh and flavorsome. My kids loved it!

    1. 5 stars
Sounds really good! I gotta try it for my kids too. 🥳

  30. User avatar tyler.mccullough82 says:

    2 stars
I messed up and forgot the mint, so it tasted more like fruit salad. Still good… but not “chaat” enough for me.

    1. User avatar russ.mcglynn55 says:

      5 stars
That’s actually totally understandable—mint really makes the “chaat” vibe pop. If you still liked it, you’re already close! Next time just add extra mint or even a tiny pinch more black salt/chili to bring the flavor back toward chaat.

  31. User avatar jacqui.lockman says:

    3 stars
I’m not sure about the black salt… it was a little too “eggy” for me. Everything else was good, though, especially the roasted cumin. Might reduce it next time.

  32. User avatar lynn.morissette91 says:

    5 stars
I tried it and added some mango too! Turned out fantastic!! Gonna make it again.

  33. User avatar erin.torphy says:

    1 star
Where’s the sugar? This was too sour for my taste. Not sure if I will try this again.

  34. 3 stars
The instructions say “serve immediately,” but I always forget 😅. Mine sat for like 20 minutes and it got kinda watery—still tasty though.

  35. User avatar mckinley.zieme1955 says:

    4 stars
Loved the flavor balance—sweet, tangy, and a little spicy. Next time I’ll chop everything a bit smaller so each bite has more of the mix.

  36. User avatar teodora.dooley56 says:

    3 stars
I tried this but it ended up being too spicy for my kids. Maybe I should’ve skipped the red chili powder. 😅

  37. 4 stars
Sounds good, but I think it could use more fruits? I might add strawberries next time.

  38. 5 stars
This is absolutely delicious! A perfect combo of sweet and spicy. I love it!

  39. User avatar Ford Prefect says:

    3 stars
Can you use other fruits? Like bananas? Someone told me that’s ok?

  40. User avatar marylou.casper29 says:

    5 stars
Super easy recipe! Made it for a party and everyone loved it! Will definitely make again.

  41. User avatar roman.maggio15 says:

    5 stars
Yummy! And super healthy! Even my husband liked it, and he hates fruits usually!

    1. User avatar ShanksOnePiece says:

      5 stars
That’s awesome! If your husband liked it, it must be really something! 😄 I can’t wait to try it myself!

    2. User avatar ShanksOnePiece says:

      2 stars
Healthy, sure, but fruit salad? I mean, isn’t that kinda basic? 🤔 I don’t get the hype.

  42. User avatar tissues_with_issues says:

    5 stars
This is a refreshing twist on fruit salad! Love the spices. Yum!

  43. User avatar Shaddam Corrino IV says:

    2 stars
Meh, too many ingredients for my taste. Just give me simple fruits!

  44. User avatar miyoko.walker96 says:

    4 stars
Kids actually ate it (rare). I was worried the chili powder would be too much, but it’s mild enough with the fruits. Will make again for sure.

  45. 4 stars
I wasn’t sure about the spices in fruit, but it actually worked! Surprised in a good way.

  46. User avatar nannette.rohan22 says:

    4 stars
Honestly, it’s good, but 2 cups fruits feels kinda too much for one sitting. I might cut the fruit down and keep the spices the same. Still flavorful though.

  47. User avatar lidia.barton49 says:

    5 stars
This recipe is so refreshing! I added some kiwi and it was delicious. Will make again!

  48. User avatar emmitt.bednar says:

    5 stars
Ok wow. I added pomegranate and it was sweet-sour-bangy. My kids loved it (and they usually hate ‘healthy’ stuff).

  49. 3 stars
Not gonna lie, I’m skeptical about fruit + black pepper. But I guess chaat masala does that magic. Might try with a smaller amount first.

    1. User avatar lawrence.dietrich56 says:

      5 stars
Totally get your skepticism 😅 Fruit + pepper sounds weird at first, but chaat flavors are magic—try it! Start tiny like you said.

  50. User avatar Charles Darwin says:

    3 stars
It was okay. I think the cumin is too strong, not my favorite combo.. maybe 3 stars.

  51. User avatar benedict.hettinger says:

    5 stars
I used apples, bananas, and added yogurt. It was yum!

    1. 5 stars
Sounds delicious! I love adding yogurt to fruit dishes, it gives a nice creaminess. Yum!

    2. User avatar robby.spinka says:

      2 stars
But is it really a fruit chaat if you didn’t use all the ingredients? I dunno, seems off.

  52. User avatar sergio.deckow1979 says:

    1 star
This is just fruit salad with some soupy stuff in it. Not what I expected.

  53. User avatar ok.oberbrunner52 says:

    4 stars
Wow—mint + coriander with fruit is such a good combo. I used crushed roasted peanuts only and skipped almonds/cashews, and it was still delicious.

    1. User avatar edyth.hirthe says:

      3 stars
I’m not sure about fruit chaat with so many spices… like black salt + cumin + chili on fruit feels weird. But if you say it works, I’ll try it. Maybe I’ll just use less lemon juice?

    2. User avatar olen.moen says:

      5 stars
That combo really does slap 😄 Roasted peanuts add so much crunch—glad you didn’t miss the almonds/cashews.

  54. User avatar Loonquawl and Phouchg says:

    3 stars
I love fruit chaat but I’m skeptical about the black salt amount—0.5 tsp sounds like a lot. Could easily overpower the fruit if the mix is too salty.

    1. User avatar anonymous_hacker says:

      4 stars
Good point—0.5 tsp black salt can be strong, but fruit chaat usually needs that “tangy-salty” hit. I’d start with less next time and adjust by taste.

  55. User avatar viviana.hodkiewicz67 says:

    5 stars
This fruit chaat is amazing! I added some extra spices and it turned out delicious!

  56. 5 stars
This sounds like the perfect sweet-meets-tangy snack. Chaat masala + black salt is such a good combo—can’t wait to try it with pomegranate!

  57. User avatar shawanna.pfeffer78 says:

    3 stars
This seems too easy, I dunno if it’ll taste good. Chaat masala and fruits? 🤔

  58. User avatar maxwell.ullrich76 says:

    1 star
Yuck! This was really weird. I didn’t like mixing all these spices with fruit. 1 star for effort.

  59. 5 stars
This fruit chaat was amazing! So fresh and flavorful. Perfect for a summer picnic! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

  60. 1 star
Grapes and oranges together? No way!

  61. User avatar NAFO.SUPREMACY says:

    2 stars
This feels like a fruit salad with extra steps. Why the spices?

  62. User avatar Frostbite Spider says:

    3 stars
Are you sure you can add chili to fruits? Sounds weird.

    1. 5 stars
Yes! The chili adds a nice kick to the sweetness of the fruits. It’s common in many cultures. You should try it!

  63. User avatar eusebio.hodkiewicz72 says:

    5 stars
So easy and delicious! I love chaat masala. Much better than my usual fruit salads.

    1. 2 stars
Sounds nice, but I don’t get why you gotta put chili powder in a fruit salad. Seems weird to me.

    2. 5 stars
I made it too! So easy! Can’t believe I never tried this. Chaat masala really gives it a kick!

  64. User avatar janelle.mann70 says:

    4 stars
Step 3, you said peanuts. I forgot them, still was good but missing crunch. 😩

  65. User avatar Luz Osinski says:

    2 stars
Who needs all those nuts? Not for me. Just fruit please!

    1. 5 stars
I totally get you! Nuts aren’t for everyone. Just go with your favorite fruits! 🍏🍍

  66. User avatar Captain Ginyu says:

    4 stars
Made something similar, but I’m surprised by the amount of nuts vs fruit—hope it doesn’t get too heavy. Still, it looks like a fun flavor bomb.

    1. 4 stars
I get what you mean about the nuts/fruits balance—this one definitely leans a bit snacky. But the lemon juice and spices help keep it lively, and if you want it lighter you can just reduce the nuts a little next time (or add them right before serving).

  67. User avatar hwa.waters1954 says:

    3 stars
Just OK. Wish there were more fruits. And what’s with the chili? Weird!

  68. User avatar Future Trunks says:

    2 stars
Kinda bland for me. I followed it exactly, but my fruits were not that sweet, so the balance didn’t hit. Might need more lemon or more masala.

  69. 5 stars
Delicious! 😋 Mint + coriander gives it that fresh punch. I added a tiny squeeze of extra lemon and it was perfect.

  70. User avatar jarod.terry1962 says:

    5 stars
NOM NOM! The peanuts add a nice crunch! Yum!

  71. User avatar shizue.moore2025 says:

I made it but added too much chili. Spicy fruits aren’t it for me. 🤢

  72. 2 stars
This is just a salad, not a chaat. Change my mind.

  73. User avatar Zarniwoop says:

    2 stars
Never heard of fruit chaat before. Is it like normal salad? 2 stars for confusing.

    1. User avatar amalia.quitzon2 says:

      5 stars
Fruit chaat is different! It’s more like a spicy fruit salad. The masala makes it unique. Give it a try, you’ll love it!

    2. User avatar yevette.legros53 says:

      2 stars
I thought it was just fruits mixed up. Sounds weird with all those spices. Can you really put chili in fruit?

  74. User avatar jeremy.williamson1981 says:

Wow this is a unique combination! I had no idea chaat could be made with fruit. Will try it soon!

  75. User avatar theresia.von41 says:

Meh. Fruit salad with spices. I don’t know why people act like it’s special. But I’ll admit the roasted nuts part sounds nice.

What’s chaat masala? Never heard of it before. 😳

  81. User avatar roderick.ebert says:

Not sure about mixing pineapple with pomegranate—mine turned kinda watery. Maybe I chopped everything too big? Flavor was decent regardless.

  82. User avatar anonymous_hacker says:

    4 stars
I’m skeptical about black salt in fruit, but honestly it worked. It tastes like chaat-style even though it’s just fruit. Nice!

  83. 2 stars
Black salt feels a little weird to me with sweet fruits, not gonna lie. Also the recipe calls for both peanuts, almonds, and cashews—can be pricey. Still, it might work if you go easy on the spices.

    1. User avatar alexander.hettinger78 says:

      4 stars
I get what you mean—black salt can be a shock with sweet fruit. But if it’s only 1/2 tsp for 2 cups fruit, it’s usually subtle. I’d start even lighter and taste as you go.

  84. User avatar rebecka.sauer19 says:

    2 stars
Chaat masala? Isn’t that for savory dishes? I’m not sure about mixing that with fruits. 🤔

    1. 5 stars
I know it sounds strange, but chaat masala adds a great tangy flavor to fruits! You should definitely try it! 😊

  85. User avatar Barbara Lubowitz says:

That’s a smart idea! My kids love it too without the spice. Thanks for sharing!

  89. 5 stars
This sounds so refreshing! The mix of black salt + chaat masala with fruit is my weakness. I’ll definitely try it with apples and pineapple.

I don’t know about all these spices with fruit. A bit weird if you ask me. Wouldn’t just fruit be better?

  103. User avatar rickiestmorty says:

    3 stars
I tried it but wasn’t too impressed… maybe I added too much chili?? It was a bit too spicy for my taste.

  104. 4 stars
Pretty good but I think I used too much lemon juice. Next time I’ll be careful.

  105. User avatar Wonko the Sane says:

    2 stars
I don’t even know what half those spices are… Would it still be good without them?

  106. User avatar britta.price says:

    3 stars
My fruit got a little watery after mixing, maybe I chopped too early. Still tasted good, just didn’t look as crisp when I served it.

  107. User avatar Mr. Benjamin Little says:

    2 stars
I don’t get why people put chili in fruit. Seems gross to me.

  109. User avatar christen.kris1965 says:

I made it with whatever fruits were around and it still tasted great. The black salt + lemon is such a good combo. Super refreshing.

  111. User avatar randy.kshlerin says:

Great recipe! Never knew fruits could taste like this.

    1. User avatar goldfish says:

      5 stars
I totally agree! This recipe is a game changer for fruity snacks! 🍇🍍

    2. 2 stars
Are you serious? Fruits tasting like this? I don’t know man, but I prefer them plain. 😒

  112. User avatar Marketta Borer says:

    4 stars
I tried it without the nuts (allergic) and it was still delicious! Thanks!

  113. User avatar kurt.watsica50 says:

    3 stars
My mom makes it better lol, but this is alright. Just too many nuts.

  114. User avatar ezequiel.hagenes says:

    5 stars
This was seriously refreshing! The blend of chaat masala + black salt makes the fruit taste way more “snacky.” I used only apples, grapes, and pineapple—still came out great.

    1. User avatar Gabriella says:

      5 stars
Yes!! Black salt + chaat masala really does make it taste like actual chaat cravings. Love that you kept it simple with just apples, grapes, and pineapple—will try that combo.

    2. User avatar demetrius.kuhlman says:

      3 stars
I made this once but I think I messed up the black salt 😅 still tasted good tho. Question—do you chop the oranges too? Or is it only apples/grapes?

  115. User avatar kristi.bahringer69 says:

    5 stars
This sounds so refreshing! The mix of black salt + chaat masala with all the fruit is exactly my kind of snack. I’ll definitely try it with extra pomegranate.

  116. User avatar ronny.blanda51 says:

    4 stars
Fruits and spices together? That sounds weird. I prefer my fruits plain, but my family loved it!

  117. User avatar rich.landlord says:

    4 stars
My fruits usually get watery fast, so I’d eat this immediately like the recipe says—good call. Also, too many nuts maybe, but it’s tasty.

  118. 1 star
No, not sure about this. Fruits with all those powders feels like junk food salad. But I guess I’ll taste it once… lol.

    1. User avatar NAFO.SUPREMACY says:

      4 stars
Fair point—powders can make it feel like “junk” if you’re expecting plain fruit salad. But chaat masala + black salt is what gives it that classic tangy-savoury balance. Give it a try—you might be surprised 😊

  119. 4 stars
Fruit chaat is great but this recipe says “grapes, oranges, pineapple, and pomegranate” and also apples—sounds like a holiday salad. Still, lemon juice helps so much.

  120. User avatar leon.thompson says:

    4 stars
Made something similar, and honestly the roasted nuts make it feel way more filling. I’d maybe add a little honey though… just a personal taste.

  121. User avatar Murbella says:

    5 stars
Yum! 10/10 would recommend! Perfect for summer BBQs!

    1. User avatar Frank Kuhlman says:

      5 stars
Absolutely agree! This fruit chaat is a hit at every party! 🌞

  122. User avatar Johanna Bernier says:

    2 stars
I don’t know, it seems like too many spices for fruit. I stick to just sugar!

  123. 3 stars
Not bad, but I think the amounts are a bit much for the spice mix. After mixing, it tasted kinda salty even with the lemon. Could use more fruit next time.

    1. User avatar blossom.okeefe says:

      5 stars
Good point—black salt and chaat masala can get intense fast. I’d cut those amounts a bit and add more chopped fruit (or extra pineapple) to balance. Thanks for the heads-up!

  124. User avatar stephany.macgyver says:

    2 stars
umm i forgot to roast the cashews and it still taste ok? also i didn’t have black salt so i used table salt… turned out more salty than i expected 😅

  125. User avatar basementDweller says:

    5 stars
This is the best fruit salad I’ve ever made! I added some mangoes too, give it a try!

    1. User avatar antonio.mckenzie says:

      5 stars
Sounds delicious! I love adding my own twist to recipes, too. Can’t wait to give this a try!

    2. User avatar dannie.bergnaum says:

      3 stars
I’ve never heard of adding mangoes to fruit salad. That’s interesting! I usually stick to the basics. 🤔

  126. User avatar Tena Ko'sah says:

    2 stars
Not a fan of the spices. Just didn’t taste right.

  127. 3 stars
I added too much lemon juice and ruined it. 🙁

    1. User avatar corine.windler99 says:

      4 stars
Oh no! Too much lemon juice can be a bummer. Maybe you could try adding a little sugar or honey to balance it out next time?

  128. User avatar enid.kirlin51 says:

    2 stars
Too spicy for my taste. Not a fan of the chaat masala. I prefer my fruits plain.

  129. 2 stars
Why so many nuts? It’s tasty but I don’t think cashews are necessary. You could probably skip them and it’ll still taste like chaat.

    1. User avatar leandro.effertz1979 says:

      4 stars
I get what you mean—cashews aren’t “required,” but they add a creamy bite and nicer texture compared to just fruits + peanuts. Still, skipping them won’t ruin the chaat.

    2. 5 stars
Honestly nuts are optional in my house. I’d just add a bit more peanuts or even roasted chana for crunch. Grapes + citrus already carry the flavor though.

  130. User avatar ariane.weimann5 says:

    5 stars
This is so good! I loved the combination of flavors. Definitely making it again!

  131. User avatar byron.will says:

    3 stars
I tried “black salt” once and it tasted kinda weird to me, like strong eggy vibes. Might be my brand. Any tips?

  132. 2 stars
Nah… I’m not convinced. Fruit + black salt is weird to me. I tried it anyway and it wasn’t hitting like chaat should.

  133. User avatar genesis.schaden18 says:

    2 stars
Sounds healthy but why add so many spices? I just like my fruits plain.

    1. 4 stars
I get where you’re coming from! But the spices really add a unique flavor. You might be surprised how good it tastes!

  134. User avatar jerome.durgan62 says:

    3 stars
This is very good but I think 1 tsp chaat masala might be too strong for some palates. Mine was kinda overpowering, so I’ll probably use 1/2 tsp next time.

    1. User avatar Frank N. Beans says:

      5 stars
Totally agree—chaat masala can be super punchy. 1/2 tsp next time sounds perfect if you’re not into strong flavors.

    2. 4 stars
I usually do 1 tsp, but I mix it with the roasted cumin and lemon first. Maybe that helps the flavor mellow—though yours being overpowering makes sense.

  135. User avatar Hurdy Gurdy Man says:

    3 stars
Fruit? More like vegetable salad, haha! JK, it’s good. 😄

  136. User avatar trinidad.fadel39 says:

    4 stars
Kind of bold using fruit with all those spices, but I’m glad I tried. The lemon juice helps a lot. Next time I’ll reduce the red chili powder a bit for my kids.

    1. User avatar buck.hermiston3 says:

      4 stars
My kids would not touch it with chili powder… good call reducing it. Also I accidentally used lemon pepper once and it tasted weird. 😅 But this sounds like a solid base—maybe I’ll keep chili super low and add more mint.

    2. 5 stars
Love this! The lemon + chaat masala combo really makes the fruit taste “brighter.” I’ve been tempted to add more fruit like mango too—think it would work with the same spices?

  137. User avatar see.nienow says:

    5 stars
This turned out super refreshing! The chaat masala + black salt combo is everything—tastes like a proper street-style chaat. I used watermelon instead of apples and it still worked great.

  138. User avatar Donald Steuber says:

    5 stars
Yum! Simple and tasty! I added some extra pomegranates cause I like em. 😋

    1. 4 stars
Sounds great! I love the tangy taste of pomegranates. Do you think it would be good with bananas too?

    2. User avatar sherrie.walker says:

      2 stars
Why add extra pomegranates? Isn’t it already in the recipe? 🤔

  139. User avatar Prostetnic Vogon Kwaltz says:

    5 stars
Not gonna lie, I expected it to be bland with fruits. Turns out roasted cumin + pepper actually punches. Could eat this as a whole meal.

  140. User avatar roderick.franecki says:

    5 stars
Homemade fruit chaat is bomb! Can’t stop eating it! 🤤

    1. User avatar chas.parker1961 says:

      5 stars
Totally agree! It’s the perfect refreshment! 🥳

  141. User avatar Hillman Hunter says:

    3 stars
I love fruit chaat, but this one needs more crunch. Not enough nuts!

  142. User avatar sean.macgyver says:

    3 stars
I didn’t have all the spices, but I tried it anyway. It was okay but a bit bland… maybe needs more flavor? ⭐⭐⭐

  143. User avatar houston.ward63 says:

    2 stars
Meh, too many spices for fruit. I like my fruits plain. 😕

  144. User avatar mercedez.dickinson73 says:

    3 stars
The seasoning is a lot—like, almost too much for my taste. I think 1 tbsp lemon + all those spices overpowered the fruits. Still edible, just not my favorite.

  145. 4 stars
I like the idea, but 1/4 tsp black pepper and 1/4 tsp red chili powder feels a bit too “spicy” for sweet fruits? Maybe I’ll cut the chili in half. Still, great flavor balance overall.

  146. User avatar evie.pagac1965 says:

    2 stars
Fruit chaat? Never heard of this before, sounds weird mixing spices with fruit. Skeptical but willing to try. ⭐⭐

  147. User avatar refugia.oconner86 says:

    5 stars
This turned out so fresh and flavorful! The mix of black salt + chaat masala is the real magic. I used whatever fruits I had and it still tasted great.

    1. 5 stars
So glad it worked for you! The black salt + chaat masala combo really does make it pop 😄. Using mixed fruits is the best part—less stress, still delicious.

  148. User avatar ShanksOnePiece says:

    5 stars
Way better than plain fruit salad. My kids actually ate it without complaining (rare). I used slightly less chili powder—still great.

  149. 5 stars
So easy and quick! I made it for guests and everyone kept asking for the recipe. Only thing: I didn’t have roasted cumin so I toasted normal cumin—still decent.

  150. User avatar eden.ritchie72 says:

    4 stars
So easy to make! Had it at a party and everyone loved it! 👍

  151. User avatar Patricia Zemlak says:

    3 stars
The ingredient list is fine but the parentheses are confusing—like “grapes, oranges, pineapple, and pomegranate), chopped, such as apples” lol. I guessed what it meant.

  152. User avatar colin.streich2010 says:

    1 star
Fruit chaat? Is that even a thing? I’m confused about the spices.

  153. User avatar maurice.parker says:

    3 stars
Cha t masala everywhere, haha. I feel like it overpowers the fruits a bit if you’re heavy-handed. But overall pretty addictive.

  154. User avatar rich.landlord says:

    5 stars
Chaat masala, mint, coriander… this is basically my childhood in a bowl. 10/10, would eat every afternoon.

  155. User avatar dante.okuneva1985 says:

    1 star
fruit chaat is just old news, y’all 😒

  156. User avatar johnetta.feeney says:

    3 stars
Meh. It’s tasty, but the spice level felt uneven—some bites were super peppery, others not. Probably my measuring was off.

    1. User avatar Questular Rontok says:

      4 stars
This is why I always eyeball spices… but yeah pepper can be wild if it’s clumping. Try grinding the pepper again or using a pinch less—still tasty though 😅

    2. 5 stars
Totally agree—mine sometimes comes out uneven too. I started mixing all the dry spices in a small bowl first, then tossing that mix through the fruit, and it fixed it a lot.

  157. User avatar harold.kassulke says:

    2 stars
Too many powders lol. I’d do chaat masala only. 😅

  158. 2 stars
Way too much mint and coriander for me—tasted kinda soapy? Maybe my herbs were old. If you like herby chaat, you’ll probably love it.

  159. 5 stars
This is such a refreshing recipe! Loved the spices!

    1. 5 stars
I tried this and it was super yummy! My family loved it too! 😊

  160. 5 stars
This looks so refreshing! The combo of black salt + chaat masala is exactly what I crave in fruit chaat. I might add a little jaggery next time for sweetness.

    1. User avatar serina.price94 says:

      5 stars
Yesss fruit chaat is the best—black salt + chaat masala is such a perfect tangy combo. I’ll try it with jaggery too next time!

    2. User avatar hsiu.mueller18 says:

      3 stars
Sounds good, but why only 1 tbsp lemon? I usually do more, like 2-3 tbsp, otherwise it feels kinda plain. Also I don’t have black salt—should I skip or use kala namak? 😅
