It was edible but kinda bland for me. Salt amount is vague—like, how much is “salt”? I ended up salting again and adding extra pepper. If you’re sensitive to blandness, adjust.
I think “fill it with enough water to cover” is too much—mine boiled forever and I lost flavor in the water. Also 1 hour might be long for thin chops. Overall okay, but I’d reduce the water and check doneness earlier.
lol “1 tbsp olive oil” and then just water… I was skeptical. But yeah, it actually turned out fine. Next time I’ll add carrots or something so it’s not just meat + onion.
Tried this tonight—super comforting. The onion + bay leaves made the whole thing taste way more “real” than I expected. I simmered closer to 1 hr 15 and the chops were fork-tender. Will make again!
Mine came out kinda bland even with seasoning. I think the pork chops were too thick? Also, I forgot to cover the pot tightly at first, so I lost some flavor I guess.
Low-key genius using boiled chops instead of the usual frying. The olive oil helps, and the onion broth is tasty. I served mine with rice and it soaked up everything.
The directions are a little vague—how much water is “enough,” you know? I guessed and ended up with too much liquid, but the pork was still good. Needs clearer measurements.
Pretty simple and it worked. I didn’t have bay leaves so I used dried thyme (maybe not the same), but it still came out good. Next time I’ll follow it exactly.
Super comforting! The bay leaves really make it taste “old-school” in a good way. I added a little extra garlic and it turned out tender after an hour.
I’m not sure about vinegar—won’t it make the pork taste sour? I usually just add more bay leaves and maybe a splash of broth. The water boiling part already leaches out flavor, y’know?
Totally get you. I’ve done these before and they can come out pretty bland—paprika would help a lot. I’d also add a little garlic powder or some onion powder so it’s not just salt/pepper.
Yes!! That onion/garlic base really does make the whole pot smell next-level. Love that you adjusted the pepper at the end—makes sense for building flavor without overdoing it.
I followed it pretty close, but my onion never got fully translucent after 10 minutes (maybe my heat was low). Still tasted good though, and the chops were decent after the hour.
I think 10 min is too short for “translucent.” My onion never does that unless I cook it longer and stir more often. But yeah, boiled chops come out good anyway 😄
Happens! Onions can take longer depending on pan size and heat. Next time, maybe give it 15–20 min or turn it up a bit—still tastes right though, so nice!
Not sure why it’s called “boiled” when it’s basically simmering. Either way, I liked the flavor. Next time I’ll sear the chops first for a bit of browning.
I followed it pretty closely, though I forgot to cover the pot at first and the water reduced. Still edible, just more salty—would rate higher if the directions were a touch more specific about water amount.
Made this tonight—so simple and the pork came out really tender. The bay leaves gave it a nice little “soupy” depth. I added a pinch of paprika and it was even better.
Just finished cooking! So good. I added some paprika for flavor!
This sounds easy, but we didn’t have bay leaves. Not sure it will work without them.
You can still make it without bay leaves! The other ingredients are flavorful enough. Just add a bit more seasoning if you like.
Could you use chicken instead? I’m not a big pork person.
I followed the recipe but it turned out dry. Maybe too long simmering?
Wow, this was super easy to make! My family loved it! Thanks!
My husband was skeptical but said this was the best pork chops he’s ever had!
Best? Really? I’ve made pork chops plenty of times and they were just okay. Maybe I need to try this recipe.
That’s awesome! I love hearing that. Pork chops can be tricky, but it sounds like you nailed it!
Best pork chops ever, made this twice this week!
Really? I don’t get what’s so great about boiled pork chops… seems bland to me.
I tried this recipe too! It’s super easy and my kids loved it!
American boiled pork chops?? A bit odd, don’t ya think?
I don’t know about boiling pork chops…sounds weird. I always grill mine.
Simple and delicious! I added some herbs from my garden. Perfect for dinner.
I tried this and my chops came out dry. Maybe I cooked them too long? Idk.
you shouldnt use bay leaves, they dont do much 4 flavor, just saying.
These pork chops were amazing! So juicy and tender! Will make again.
Glad to hear that! I tried this recipe too, and it turned out great! Cooking them slowly really does make a difference.
Hmmm, I don’t know. Boiling pork chops? Sounds kinda strange. I usually grill mine. Is it really that good?
BOILED?? why would you boil pork? what next, frying water? LOL
Loved it! Very easy recipe, can’t believe I never tried this before!
Meh, might not make again. The flavor was kinda bland.
I substituted chicken for pork and it still turned out good! #winner
I love this! Family enjoyed it, new favorite in our house! 🙂
I’m so glad to hear that! It’s always nice to find a winner recipe. Did you serve it with anything special?
I don’t understand why you would boil pork chops. Isn’t that just ruining them?
Boiling pork chops actually makes them super tender! Give it a try before you knock it. 😋
Absolutely delicious! The pork came out so tender, I can’t believe I was able to make this at home. Thank you!
Too much water, my chops were swimming! Next time I’ll try less.
It was edible but kinda bland for me. Salt amount is vague—like, how much is “salt”? I ended up salting again and adding extra pepper. If you’re sensitive to blandness, adjust.
Wasn’t sure about boiled pork chops, but wow, these were great! Easy and good flavors!
I didn’t have bay leaves so I used thyme and it still worked. Also I covered the pot but kept checking so it didn’t go dry.
I was skeptical about boiling pork chops. Isn’t that for beef? But wow, they turned out great!
My chops were tough, guess I boiled them too long? Not sure if I’ll try again.
Why are bay leaves necessary? They don’t even add taste, do they?
Meat too hard for me. Didn’t work out. Gonna stick to grilling. 👎
Grilling is def easier! Boiling seems weird for meat, like, how can it be good? Just stick to what you enjoy! 👩🍳
Sorry to hear that! Maybe try cooking them for a bit longer next time? They should get tender if you simmer them enough.
I think “fill it with enough water to cover” is too much—mine boiled forever and I lost flavor in the water. Also 1 hour might be long for thin chops. Overall okay, but I’d reduce the water and check doneness earlier.
This recipe was super easy to follow! The pork chops came out so tender! 🤤
This is a classic! Reminds me of home cooking. I love how simple it is. 🥰
Pretty good but could use some hot sauce for kick!
These pork chops came out so tender! I loved the flavor from the onion and garlic. Will definitely make again!
I’m glad you enjoyed them! Tender pork chops are the best! Did you serve with any sides?
Followed the recipe exactly and it was a disaster. My chops were tough and overcooked. What did I do wrong?
I don’t get why you’d boil pork. Isn’t that kinda strange? Seems like it wouldn’t taste good…
LOL boiled pork chops? Who wants that? Grill them instead! #hotdogsforever
I think I overcooked them, they were kinda dry. 😔
So easy! I added some carrots and celery for extra flavor. Yum!
Pork chops should not be boiled! What is this madness?
I followed the recipe but it turned out kinda bland. Maybe some seasoning other than just salt and pepper would help?
Yummm! I added some more spices and it was delish! Family loved it.
Good recipe but my chops were rubbery. Not sure if I did something wrong or if it was the meat 🤷♂️.
Simple and comforting. The bay leaves really come through. I added carrots because I had them, and it still worked great—tender chops!
Pork chops + water? Sounds weird. Are we really boiling them? I dunno about this. 🤔
I was skeptical too at first, but boiled pork chops can be really tender! Give it a try!
Followed the steps but I’m not sure the pork chops stayed juicy after an hour. Maybe my chops were too thin? Tasted good though.
Glad they still tasted good! If they were thin, an hour can dry them out a bit. Next time, try thicker chops or start checking around 30–40 minutes.
lol “1 tbsp olive oil” and then just water… I was skeptical.
My family loved it, even the kids ate the veggies! 😂
I followed the recipe but my chops were tough. Maybe I’m just not good at boiling meat?
Maybe you overcooked them? They can get tough if boiled too long.
Nah, boiling is easy! Just use a good cut of meat next time.
Not bad, but I think 1 hour was a bit short for my thick chops. Next time I’ll simmer closer to 75–90 minutes and check doneness with a thermometer.
5/5, will cook again. Also my onion was kinda big slices but omg still delicious. Simple food is the best.
This recipe is so simple yet so tasty! I can’t believe how tender the chops turned out. Will definitely make again!
Honestly, I’m not a fan of boiled pork chops. They tasted kinda bland to me. I think grilling would be way better!
Made this for dinner and the whole family loved it! The bay leaves really added flavor. Thanks for sharing!
Mine came out kinda tough 😕 I think I didn’t cover the pot tight enough? Also I used pork tenderloin once and it overcooked, so watch your cut.
Mine came out kinda bland even with seasoning. I think the pork chops were too thick? Also, I forgot to cover the pot tightly at first, so I lost some flavor I guess.
I was skeptical about just salt/pepper + bay leaves. But wow—my broth actually tasted rich. I served it with rice and it soaked up all the goodness.
I was skeptical too, but I tried it and totally get what you mean—bay leaves can make it feel way richer than you’d expect.
Followed it pretty much exactly. Onion + garlic were sweet and the meat was fork-tender after an hour. Would make again for sure.
Love hearing this! Onion + garlic making it sweet is exactly what I hope for—glad you got fork-tender chops after an hour. 😊
Low-key genius using boiled chops instead of the usual frying. The olive oil helps, and the onion broth is tasty. I served mine with rice and it soaked up everything.
Not bad, but mine needed way more time—more like 1.5 hours—because my pork chops were thick. Still tasty though.
The directions are a little vague—how much water is “enough,” you know? I guessed and ended up with too much liquid, but the pork was still good. Needs clearer measurements.
I didn’t have bay leaves so I used dried thyme. It tasted okay, but it wasn’t the same vibe. Kinda bland without the bay leaves.
Pretty simple and it worked. I didn’t have bay leaves so I used dried thyme (maybe not the same), but it still came out good. Next time I’ll follow it exactly.
Super easy. Like… 1 pot. I didn’t have bay leaves so I used dried thyme (probably not the same). Still ate it all though 😅
Super comforting! The bay leaves really make it taste “old-school” in a good way. I added a little extra garlic and it turned out tender after an hour.
Yes!! Bay leaves are such a game changer. “Old-school” is exactly right 😄 Glad yours stayed tender after an hour.
Question: do you really need 1 hour? I did 45 min and they were still a little tough, so yeah I guess longer is better.
Boiled pork chops feels kinda plain, I’ll be honest. Not bad, just… not wow. Could use something like paprika or a splash of vinegar.
The onion + garlic base smells amazing. I added a little extra pepper at the end and it turned out perfect.
Yes!! That onion/garlic base really does make the whole pot smell next-level. Love that you adjusted the pepper at the end—makes sense for building flavor without overdoing it.
Why boil chops?? Pork should be roasted or grilled, otherwise it gets dry/boring. This smelled fine, but the texture felt kinda meh to me.
This is my kinda dinner. Low effort, big flavor. Salt pepper onion garlic = win. 10/10 😅
I’m skeptical of “boiled” chops but this was actually flavorful. Next time I’ll reduce the water a bit to make a quick sauce from the onion broth.
Made these tonight and they were super tender—exactly what I needed for a quick comfort dinner. The bay leaves really do make a difference.
This was fast and cheap. I made it with what I had: no olive oil, so I used butter—worked surprisingly well. Onion + garlic simmered down perfectly.
Totally agree—this is one of those “real life” recipes. Also love that butter swap tip. I’m always out of olive oil too 😅
Made this tonight—so simple and the pork came out really tender. The bay leaves gave it a nice little “soupy” depth. I added a pinch of paprika and it was even better.
So glad it worked for you! The bay leaves really do add that cozy broth depth—nice add with the paprika too.
