Cranberry Martinis

November 27, 2024

Cranberry martinis are a festive and refreshing cocktail that adds a touch of elegance to any occasion, especially during the holiday season. This vibrant drink combines the tartness of fresh cranberries with the smoothness of vodka, creating a perfectly balanced cocktail that’s both sweet and tangy. Whether you’re hosting a holiday party or just looking to enjoy a sophisticated drink, cranberry martinis are sure to impress.

To make cranberry martinis, start by preparing cranberry syrup or using cranberry juice. If you prefer a fresher, homemade touch, simmer fresh cranberries with sugar and water until the berries burst and the mixture thickens into a syrup. Alternatively, cranberry juice can be used for a quicker version of the cocktail.

In a cocktail shaker, combine vodka, cranberry syrup (or juice), and a splash of fresh lime juice for some added acidity. Shake vigorously with ice until well chilled. For an extra layer of flavor, you can also add a dash of orange liqueur like Cointreau or Triple Sec, which complements the tart cranberries nicely.

Strain the mixture into a chilled martini glass and garnish with a few fresh cranberries or a twist of lime zest. For a festive touch, you can even rim the glass with sugar or salt to add a bit of sweetness with each sip.

Cranberry martinis are perfect for any celebration, from Thanksgiving to New Year’s Eve, but they’re also a great choice for a cozy evening with friends. The bright, fruity flavors and smooth vodka make it a delightful drink that’s both refreshing and indulgent.

For a twist, try adding a splash of sparkling water or club soda for a bubbly, lighter version of the cocktail. This will give it a refreshing effervescence while still keeping that lovely cranberry flavor.

Cranberry martinis are a beautiful, festive drink that brings a touch of holiday spirit to any gathering, offering a sweet and tangy kick with every sip.

Why would you mix cranberry juice with vodka? Seems weird. Don’t see the point.

  2. 5 stars
This was soooo good! Perfect for my girls’ night. We loved it!

  3. User avatar owen.champlin says:

    3 stars
Not what I expected. The lime juice is overpowering. I might try less next time.

    1. 2 stars
I dunno, but sounds like a weird drink lol. I add more vodka to mine, makes it better!

    2. 4 stars
I actually love the lime juice! It’s such a refreshing kick. Maybe try balancing it with more cranberry juice?

  4. User avatar edwardo.hayes1988 says:

  9. 2 stars
This is just juice, right? Not really a cocktail lol.

  10. User avatar rosa.price says:

    3 stars
I used store-bought lime juice because I was lazy—big mistake. Way less fresh flavor. Still drinkable though. Will try again with fresh limes.

    1. 5 stars
Totally agree—fresh lime makes a huge difference in a martini. Store-bought lime juice can taste kinda flat/chemical. Next time you’ll notice it right away.

    2. User avatar yellowjacket says:

      3 stars
I mean… if it’s still drinkable, you didn’t do THAT bad 😅 I usually just use the bottled lime stuff and add a tiny bit more triple sec for balance. Maybe try that?

  11. User avatar lloyd.gulgowski80 says:

    3 stars
I thought it was too strong. Maybe less vodka next time?

  12. 4 stars
I forgot the lime juice and it was still kinda good. Guess that means it’s a solid recipe!

    1. User avatar mitchel.macgyver4 says:

      4 stars
Glad you liked it even without the lime! I usually think of lime juice as necessary tho.

  13. User avatar Adolph Wintheiser says:

    2 stars
Way too tart for me! Maybe add some sugar next time? Just not my thing.

    1. 4 stars
I actually love the tartness! It really makes the drink refreshing. But I guess everyone’s taste is different.

    2. User avatar joan.brakus says:

      2 stars
Sugar? I thought we are tryin to be healthy. Cranberry is supposed to be sour, that’s the whole point! 🤷‍♂️

  14. User avatar travis.emmerich says:

    2 stars
Too much lime for my taste. I like it sweet, not sour! 2 out of 5.

  15. User avatar gina.bogisich12 says:

    2 stars
I dunno, not a fan of drinks with fruit. Glorified juice, lol.

  16. 4 stars
Easy recipe and tastes divine! Used lime juice from a bottle tho, lol.

  17. 2 stars
Too tart for my liking. I added some sugar but still couldn’t get it right.

  18. 4 stars
I added a splash of orange juice. Made it even better! 🍊

    1. User avatar rhoda.gerlach says:

      5 stars
Sounds delicious! I gotta try that next time. 🍹

  19. 5 stars
I love a martini that actually tastes like something. The lime really brightens it and the triple sec rounds it out. Would make again.

Best drink ever! But does anyone else think cranberries are weird?? Like, who eats them straight?

    1. User avatar Dremora Lord says:

      2 stars
I dunno, man. Cranberries are just berry. They’re fine, but don’t be eatin’ them without sugar! Like, nobody does that.

    2. User avatar lavada.casper says:

      4 stars
Cranberries are great in drinks! But yeah, eating them raw is a bit much for me. 😂

  21. User avatar andreas.bosco80 says:

    1 star
Cranberry juice tastes bad to me. Would orange juice work instead?

    1. 3 stars
Orange juice? I guess you could try it, but it won’t be the same. Cranberry is kinda key for that tart flavor. 🤷‍♂️

  22. 1 star
I used orange juice instead of cranberry. Not good… 🤮

  23. 5 stars
Tastes super refreshing—like tart but balanced. I used Cointreau and it felt extra “real” as a martini. Will make again for sure.

  24. 5 stars
5 stars because it’s fast and pretty. I garnished with lime and it looked fancy even though I’m not fancy 😂

I thought martinis were only gin. Is vodka martini even a thing? 🤔

    1. User avatar Vladimir Harkonnen says:

      5 stars
Yes, vodka martinis are definitely a thing! They’re just as popular as gin ones. You can customize them to your taste! 🍸

Best cranberry martini ever! Will make it again for sure! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

  34. User avatar Frost Troll says:

    2 stars
meh. cranberry just takes over—i dunno. Shake was fun but flavor not for me.

    1. User avatar elbert.kuhlman90 says:

      4 stars
Totally get that—cranberry can be overpowering. I’ve found using a lighter hand on the cranberry (or a sweeter OJ mix) helps the lime and triple sec come through more.

    2. 3 stars
Maybe you used the wrong kind of cranberry juice? Unsweetened can taste super tart and punchy… like, way too much. I’d try sweetened or even cranberry + a splash of soda next time.

  35. User avatar louisa.moen1955 says:

    3 stars
I think the recipe is missing some sweetness. Maybe add a little more juice or sugar? Not my favorite. 3/5.

  36. User avatar MAGA2024.Trumpster says:

    1 star
Meh. I think cranberry juice needs sugar or the whole thing tastes like juice at the dentist. No offense, but I wouldn’t make again.

  37. 5 stars
Absolutely loved this recipe! Perfect for my girls’ night. Cheers!

  38. User avatar julie.swaniawski1993 says:

    3 stars
Are we sure that’s how you make a martini? I thought it used gin. 🤔 3 stars.

    1. User avatar Tommy Smitham DDS says:

      5 stars
Who cares if it ain’t gin? Vodka is way smoother! Way better than old-school gin. Trust me!

    2. User avatar terrance.johns1 says:

Actually, this is a cranberry martini, which is different! Classic martinis do use gin. But this looks fun! 🍹

Quick and easy recipe! Great alternative to the classic martini.

  41. 3 stars
These are so good! But why not just buy them at the bar? A. Lot. Easier.

  42. 3 stars
I accidentally used orange juice instead of cranberry, but it was still good.

  43. User avatar marcela.buckridge1972 says:

    2 stars
Meh. I prefer my cranberry cocktails sweeter. This one punches hard with the lime and unsweetened juice. Still, shaking it makes it smoother.

  44. 2 stars
Why do you have to strain it? Can’t I just pour it straight from the shaker? 🤷‍♂️

    1. 2 stars
I dunno, seems like too much fuss. Drinks are for enjoying, not straining! Just pour it!

    2. 5 stars
Straining removes any ice shards and gives you a smooth drink! Trust me, it makes a big difference.

  45. User avatar Trin Tragula says:

    3 stars
I don’t even know what triple sec is. Can I just use orange soda instead? LOL

    1. User avatar lita.dach47 says:

      4 stars
Haha, orange soda would definitely change the taste! But if you want to give it a try, go for it! Just don’t expect a martini taste! 🤣

  46. User avatar luke.langosh1986 says:

    5 stars
This recipe is fantastic! The balance of tartness and sweetness is spot on. Definitely a new favorite.

  47. User avatar tonya.donnelly64 says:

    5 stars
So refreshing! The lime really brightens it and the cranberry + orange balance is on point. I used regular cranberry juice and it still tasted great.

  48. User avatar clarisa.okeefe2002 says:

    1 star
I don’t understand how people can drink this stuff. Tastes like medicine to me. 1 star.

    1. 4 stars
I actually love cranberry martinis! They can be a bit tart but that’s what makes them refreshing. Maybe try it with a little more triple sec for sweetness?

  49. User avatar Falmer Spellsword says:

    5 stars
Delicious and super easy to make! I loved it!

  50. User avatar Goku Black says:

    4 stars
Pretty good balance, I used fresh cranberry juice from a bottle and it still came out tart (in a good way). Next time I might add a tiny bit more triple sec.

  51. User avatar porter.cartwright says:

    2 stars
I made this with cheap vodka and it was terrible. Yuck!

    1. 4 stars
Maybe try a better quality vodka next time? It makes a big difference!

  52. User avatar Prostetnic Vogon Kwaltz says:

    4 stars
I followed the ratios exactly and it came out tart in a good way. Shaking until the shaker is properly cold is key—don’t rush it.

  53. User avatar kellie.lubowitz95 says:

    4 stars
I enjoyed it, but I think I would like more cranberry flavor. Maybe double the juice?

  54. User avatar houston.fahey16 says:

    3 stars
Confession: I used sweetened cranberry juice instead of unsweetened. It was still tasty but way sweeter—so yeah, follow it or expect different results.

    1. User avatar matilde.hammes9 says:

      3 stars
Wait… sweetened cranberry juice? That’s basically like drinking dessert 😂 Still, good to know. I’d rather just add a tiny bit less sugar than mess with the whole recipe.

    2. User avatar marth.beatty57 says:

      5 stars
Thanks for the heads-up! I’ve definitely swapped things like that before and wondered why it tasted off. Next time I’ll hunt down unsweetened cranberry juice.

  55. User avatar gary.kovacek37 says:

    4 stars
I tried this but ended up using sweet cranberry juice by accident. Still tasty tho!

  56. User avatar isaiah.west says:

    5 stars
This is the best martini I’ve ever made! The cranberry juice gives it a perfect touch. 5 stars!

  57. 5 stars
So simple and delish! I added a splash of soda for fizz and it was amazing! Totally recommend. 5!

I thought it was great! Maybe you just don’t like cocktails. 😅

  59. User avatar loren.ortiz73 says:

    3 stars
Is it even a martini if it has cranberry juice?! 🤔

  60. User avatar stuart.schulist87 says:

    4 stars
1 slice lime as garnish?? i used two and it did not hurt. also it was gone fast 😅

  61. User avatar britney.ward says:

    3 stars
Not gonna lie, mine tasted a bit sharp—probably my cranberry juice was too tart. Also I forgot to chill the glass and it felt less “martini”

  62. User avatar Gaius Helen Mohiam says:

    5 stars
This is so easy it feels like cheating 😅. Shook it, strained it, lime slice on top—done. My friends thought I was fancy.

  63. User avatar sharilyn.wisoky7 says:

    5 stars
Cranberry + lime + orange liqueur sounds amazing. I’ll swap vodka for gin next time (I know, risky) but I think it’ll be great.

  64. 5 stars
Easy peasy! I made this for my friend’s party, and everyone loved it. Will make again! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

  65. User avatar tommy.muller20 says:

    4 stars
I used Grand Marnier and it was actually amazing—more aromatic than I expected. If you have a nicer orange liqueur, don’t be shy.

  66. User avatar Deangelo Haag Jr. says:

    3 stars
Isn’t lime juice just the same as lemon juice? 🤔

  67. User avatar billye.schmitt11 says:

    4 stars
Pretty good balance, not too sweet. I used fresh cranberry juice I had in the fridge and it came out a little darker—still delicious.

  68. 4 stars
I messed up and forgot to garnish… still good though. Shaking until cold worked like magic. Easy drink, not too complicated.

  69. 4 stars
Made this for a small get-together and it was a hit. Not too sweet like some cranberry drinks. I’d probably use a little more cranberry next time but overall solid.

  70. User avatar paige.bergstrom12 says:

    3 stars
The triple sec amount feels a bit high to me, like it mutes the cranberry a touch. Maybe try 1/4 oz next time? Otherwise good instructions.

  71. User avatar Hanh Glover DVM says:

    5 stars
Tried this last night—super refreshing and not overly sweet. Shaking until the shaker’s cold is key. Great summer vibe!

  72. 5 stars
Done with my martinis now, I feel like such a classy person! 🍸

  73. User avatar frances.bernier1961 says:

  74. 5 stars
Super refreshing drink! Perfect for summer parties.

  75. User avatar Galaxia Woonbeam says:

    5 stars
Wow, easy and quick. I didn’t even chill the glass and it was still pretty good. Might just become my go-to.

  76. 3 stars
I followed the steps exactly and it still didn’t taste like a “martini” to me. More like a cranberry margarita vibes. Could be just my glass though.

  77. User avatar laquanda.miller1971 says:

    2 stars
Vodka + triple sec + lime seems a little chaotic. I feel like it would be better as a mocktail with ginger ale or something. But it’s drinkable.

  78. User avatar taryn.schroeder1979 says:

    5 stars
Tried this tonight—super refreshing. The lime really brightens it, and the triple sec keeps it from tasting too tart. Will definitely make again!

  79. User avatar frederic.williamson2 says:

    2 stars
Okay but why so much shaking? I just stirred and it was fine. Still turned out cold enough. Recipe feels a little extra.

    1. User avatar basementDweller says:

      4 stars
I get what you mean, but shaking is kind of the whole point—ice has to chill the drink fast, and shaking helps it get properly cold and slightly diluted instead of just “stirred cold enough.”

    2. User avatar Fredric Tromp says:

      3 stars
Maybe your shaker was bigger? I’ve done this with less shaking and it still comes out cold, but if you don’t shake, the lime/cranberry can taste sharper and colder is less consistent. Not really “extra,” just practical.

  80. User avatar huong.rutherford5 says:

    3 stars
Mine was a bit too sharp, like sour punch. Next time I might go 3/4 oz cranberry juice or reduce the lime slightly.

  81. User avatar julio.lueilwitz1977 says:

    2 stars
This is too sweet for me. I think I’ll stick to beer.

  82. User avatar davis.wilkinson says:

Cranberry martinis taste like medicine, yuck! Not for me.

    4 stars
Wow, fancy drink! Never knew making cocktails was so easy. Thank you!

  84. User avatar conrad.wehner1 says:

    2 stars
This was way too tart for my taste. I prefer sweeter drinks. Disappointed.

  85. User avatar florencia.macgyver says:

    3 stars
Not sure about the triple sec + lime combo. It’s not bad, it’s just… kind of weirdly sharp? Maybe I’m missing something.

  86. User avatar alfonzo.gaylord1970 says:

    5 stars
Yum! I could drink these all day long! 🍹

  87. 5 stars
Love how bright and not-too-sweet this comes out. The lime really keeps it from tasting like straight juice. Will be making again for sure!

    1. User avatar faviola.mitchell says:

      5 stars
Totally agree—unsweetened cranberry + fresh lime is the combo that stops it from tasting like straight juice. I’ve been doing this exact balance and it’s always refreshing.

    2. User avatar dann.bogisich56 says:

      4 stars
Interesting tip about the lime. I used sweetened cranberry once and it was way too much, so maybe that’s why. Do you think bottled lime juice works or nah?

  88. User avatar wilbert.nitzsche36 says:

    3 stars
Not gonna lie, “martini” is a stretch here. It’s more of a sour/cocktail vibe than a classic martini. Also 2 oz vodka feels strong for my taste.

  89. 1 star
Not for me! I wanted something sweeter. I guess I’m not a martini person. 1 star.

  90. User avatar exie.denesik93 says:

    2 stars
This is fine, but calling it a ‘martini’ feels a stretch. It’s more like a vodka citrus cocktail. Also, mine tasted kind of harsh—maybe my ice wasn’t enough?

  91. User avatar derrick.davis says:

    4 stars
Tried it last night—pretty good, but I think I needed a tiny bit more cranberry juice because it tasted a little too tart with the lime. Next time I’ll tweak the ratio.

    1. User avatar jackson.schmitt47 says:

      5 stars
Totally agree—my first batch was super tart with the lime too. I added a splash more cranberry juice and it smoothed out a lot. Great call on tweaking the ratio!

  92. 2 stars
One slice lime? Seems pointless. Also I used sweetened cranberry juice by accident and it was way too sugary—so unsweetened matters a lot. My bad but yeah.

  93. 4 stars
Good flavor combo, but I found it a bit too sharp with fresh lime. Next time I’ll add a tiny splash more triple sec or sweeten slightly.

  94. 3 stars
I did exactly the steps but mine came out watery. Maybe my ice wasn’t cold enough? The flavor is still nice, though.

  95. User avatar karly.bayer says:

    5 stars
Wow, I didn’t expect it to be this good! Easy to make and my new favorite drink.

  96. User avatar w00d_ch0p says:

    3 stars
I think vodka mixes too strong with cranberry juice. I added some soda and it was better. 3/5

  97. User avatar Ice Wolf says:

    4 stars
I followed the ratios exactly and it tasted kinda like a holiday candle… in a good way? Not sure if that’s the vodka or the triple sec lol.

    1. User avatar terence.mccullough says:

      4 stars
Haha I know exactly what you mean 😄 Like bright and cozy, not “boozy” exactly. I usually blame the triple sec + cranberry combo for that sweet citrus punch, but vodka still has a lot of impact too.

    2. 3 stars
I didn’t get candle vibes at all, but I’ll say this: triple sec can be really different by brand. If yours is sweeter, it’ll lean more dessert-y. Try it again with a drier orange liqueur next time.

  98. 4 stars
Not gonna lie, I was skeptical about vodka + cranberry + triple sec. But it ended up tasting like a fancy cocktail you’d order out.

    1. User avatar smartestRedditor says:

      5 stars
I get the skepticism—vodka + those mixers can sound a little weird on paper. But that lime + triple sec combo really pulls it together. Glad it turned out fancy!

  99. 2 stars
Couldn’t get it to taste right. Maybe I’m doing something wrong, but it was super sour even though I used unsweetened cranberry juice like the recipe says.

    1. User avatar dorsey.johns says:

      4 stars
That does sound like the lime/cranberry combo is overpowering. I’d double-check you’re actually measuring 1/2 oz lime (a lot of people end up using more), and give it a good shake so it gets properly diluted—undiluted martinis can taste super sharp.

    2. User avatar Gail Andrews says:

      3 stars
Maybe your cranberry juice is extra tart. I’ve found some “unsweetened” brands are way more sour than others. Next time try a slightly smaller splash of lime or use a cranberry that’s not as aggressive (or add a tiny bit of simple syrup).
