Baked Greek-Style Salmon with Lemon and Dill

February 26, 2024

If you’re looking for a healthy, elegant, and easy dinner, this baked Greek-style salmon with lemon and dill checks all the boxes. It’s a recipe that’s simple enough for a weeknight meal but impressive enough to serve to guests. The fresh Mediterranean flavors shine through, making every bite vibrant and satisfying.

The secret to this dish is its simplicity. Start with high-quality salmon fillets, wild-caught if possible, and season them with just a few ingredients that do all the heavy lifting. A generous squeeze of fresh lemon juice, a drizzle of olive oil, and a sprinkle of sea salt create the perfect base. Add in plenty of fresh dill for a bright, herby flavor that complements the richness of the fish.

What makes this dish distinctly Greek is its clean flavor profile. You won’t find heavy sauces here, just real ingredients that let the salmon speak for itself. Optional extras like sliced garlic, thin rounds of lemon layered on top, or a dusting of oregano bring even more depth and authenticity.

Baking the salmon in the oven is quick and foolproof. At 375°F (190°C), it takes about 12 to 15 minutes, depending on the thickness of your fillets. The salmon should flake easily with a fork and have a tender, moist interior. Be careful not to overbake, salmon continues to cook slightly once it’s out of the oven.

This dish pairs wonderfully with roasted vegetables, a fresh cucumber and tomato salad, or a side of orzo with lemon and parsley. For a traditional touch, serve it with a dollop of tzatziki or a wedge of lemon.

Greek-style salmon is a refreshing way to enjoy seafood, healthy, beautiful, and full of flavor. It’s the kind of meal that feels special without requiring a lot of time or effort. With just a few ingredients and one pan, you can bring the sunny flavors of the Mediterranean straight to your table.
