Cucumber and Plum Salad

June 12, 2024

If you’re looking for a light, refreshing salad that combines the sweetness of fruit with the crispness of vegetables, Cucumber and Plum Salad is the perfect choice. This vibrant salad is not only visually appealing but also packed with flavors that burst in every bite. The combination of juicy plums and cool cucumber makes for an unexpected but delightful pairing that’s perfect for warm weather.

The cucumber provides a satisfying crunch and mild flavor, acting as the perfect base for the salad. Thinly sliced or julienned, it adds freshness and lightness to the dish. Plums, with their sweet and slightly tart taste, add a burst of flavor and a touch of natural sweetness that balances out the cucumber’s crispness.

To enhance the salad, fresh herbs like mint or basil can be added for an aromatic kick. A light dressing made of olive oil, lemon juice, and a hint of honey ties everything together with a tangy-sweet balance. The honey brings a slight sweetness to complement the fruit, while the lemon juice adds brightness and a subtle tartness to elevate the flavors.

For added texture and richness, a sprinkle of feta or goat cheese can be included, providing a creamy contrast to the crisp vegetables and juicy plums. A handful of toasted nuts, such as almonds or walnuts, adds crunch and depth, making this salad even more satisfying.

Cucumber and Plum Salad is perfect for a quick and easy side dish for summer picnics, barbecues, or as a light lunch. It’s simple to prepare, yet bursting with flavor and nutrition. The mix of refreshing vegetables, sweet fruit, and vibrant herbs makes this salad a unique and delicious addition to your meal repertoire.

Whether you serve it on its own or alongside grilled meats or fish, this colorful salad will undoubtedly be a crowd-pleaser.

So simple and quick! Perfect for summer. I think I might add some feta next time!

Feta sounds like a great idea! It’ll add a nice salty kick to it. Can’t wait to try it your way!

First time I’ve had cucumber in salad, did not expect this. Kinda good!

  3. 3 stars
I didn’t have mint so I used basil… worked okay but not the same vibe. Next time I’ll follow it better.

I just don’t understand why anyone would eat this. Cucumbers are bland. 1 star.

I think cucumbers are refreshing! Plus, they pair nicely with the sweet plums. Give it another try! 🥒😊

Cucumbers aren’t that great on their own, but with the other ingredients, it might be good. Just my opinion tho.

Super easy and pretty. The lime dressing is great—simple but not boring.

Didn’t taste like much for me. Maybe my plums weren’t ripe? Also I forgot to tear the mint, just chopped it—could that matter?

    1. 5 stars
That could totally be the plums. If they weren’t ripe, the whole salad can taste kinda flat. And yeah—tearing the mint helps a bit since it releases more oils; chopping can make it less fragrant.

Only 15 minutes? Looks easy. I did it, but i forgot the mint lol. Still decent though.

Haha I love that—15 minutes really is the sweet spot. Missing the mint is tragic but not fatal; lime + olive oil still makes it tasty. 😄 Next time, definitely add it back!

I followed the recipe but used lemon juice instead of lime. Still turned out great!

Seems easy enough, but my plums were way too ripe. Ended up mushy. 🙁

I don’t know, sounds weird to mix fruits with veggies. Tried it anyway and it was surprisingly good! Maybe a bit less onion next time.

Yummy salad but where do I get plums? Like just the grocery?

Pretty good and light, but I think the recipe needs more dressing. I doubled the lime juice/olive oil and it tasted more flavorful.

Um, what’s a plum? I thought this was just a cucumber salad? LOL

    1. 3 stars
Lol, seriously? Plums are just fruits, dude. But I dunno if they fit in a salad or not…
