Ingredients
  

  • 4 medium potatoes peeled and thinly sliced
  • 1 cup cheese grated, such as Gruyère or cheddar
  • 2 tablespoons butter melted
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper freshly ground
  • 1 teaspoon fresh thyme chopped

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • In a large bowl, combine the sliced potatoes, melted butter, salt, black pepper, and thyme.
  • Arrange a layer of potatoes in a spiral pattern in the bottom of a greased ovenproof skillet or baking dish.
  • Sprinkle a portion of the grated cheese over the potato layer.
  • Repeat the layering process until all the potatoes and cheese are used, finishing with cheese on top.
  • Place the skillet in the preheated oven and bake for 45 minutes or until the potatoes are tender and the top is golden and crispy.
