Ingredients

  • 2 rack baby back ribs about 4 to 5 pounds total
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon paprika
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 2 teaspoons kosher salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 cup barbecue sauce plus more for serving

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 275°F (135°C). Line a large baking sheet with foil.
  • Remove the thin membrane from the back of the ribs if needed, then pat the ribs dry with paper towels.
  • Mix the brown sugar, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and chili powder in a small bowl. Rub the seasoning mixture evenly over both sides of the ribs.
  • Place the ribs on the prepared baking sheet, meaty side up, and cover tightly with another layer of foil.
  • Bake for 2 hours 30 minutes, or until the ribs are tender.
  • Remove the foil, brush the ribs generously with barbecue sauce, and increase the oven temperature to 425°F (220°C).
  • Bake uncovered for 10 to 15 minutes, until the sauce is sticky and caramelized. Rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving with extra sauce.
