Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
In a mixing bowl, combine strawberries with 1/2 cup of sugar and set aside.
In another bowl, mix the remaining sugar, flour, baking powder, and salt.
Add the milk to the dry ingredients and combine well, then stir in the melted butter.
Pour the batter into a greased baking dish and spoon the strawberries evenly on top.
Bake in the preheated oven for 40 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown.
Allow to cool slightly before serving.
