Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup poppy seeds soaked in milk
  • 1 cup milk for soaking poppy seeds
  • 1 cup butter softened
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a cake pan.
  • Soak the poppy seeds in milk for at least 1 hour.
  • In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla.
  • Combine the flour and baking powder; stir into the creamed mixture alternately with the poppy seed mixture.
  • Pour batter into the prepared cake pan.
  • Bake for 45 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.
  • Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before removing to a wire rack to cool completely.
