Instructions
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a cake pan.
Soak the poppy seeds in milk for at least 1 hour.
In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla.
Combine the flour and baking powder; stir into the creamed mixture alternately with the poppy seed mixture.
Pour batter into the prepared cake pan.
Bake for 45 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.
Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before removing to a wire rack to cool completely.
