Cook the pasta according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the diced onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes. Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute.
Add the crushed tomatoes to the skillet and stir to combine. Bring to a simmer and cook for 10 minutes.
Stir in the heavy cream and grated Parmesan cheese. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Add the cooked pasta to the skillet and toss to coat in the sauce. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until heated through.
Serve the creamy tomato pasta hot, garnished with fresh basil leaves.
