Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour plus more for dusting
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter cold and cubed
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese shredded
  • 1/4 cup spring onions chopped
  • 3/4 cup buttermilk cold

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the oven to 450°F (230°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  • Add the cold butter to the flour mixture and cut it in using a pastry cutter or a fork until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  • Stir in the cheddar cheese and chopped spring onions.
  • Pour in the cold buttermilk and stir until just combined. Do not overmix.
  • Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and gently knead it a few times to bring it together. Roll or pat the dough to about 1-inch thickness.
  • Use a biscuit cutter to cut out biscuits and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
  • Bake for 12-15 minutes or until the biscuits are golden brown.
