Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup blackberries fresh or frozen
  • 2 tablespoons sugar granulated
  • 2 tablespoons brandy or dark rum optional, for flambé
  • 1/2 teaspoon lemon juice freshly squeezed
  • 1 scoop vanilla ice cream for serving

Instructions
 

  • In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine blackberries, sugar, and lemon juice.
  • Cook until the sugar dissolves and the blackberries release their juices, about 5 minutes.
  • Remove the pan from the heat and carefully add the brandy or rum.
  • Flambé the mixture by lighting the alcohol with a long lighter or match. Allow the flames to burn out completely.
  • Serve the warm blackberries over vanilla ice cream.
