Ingredients
  

  • 4 cups potatoes peeled and cubed
  • 1 cup milk warm
  • 3 tablespoons butter softened
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper freshly ground
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 1/2 cup water

Instructions
 

  • Boil the peeled and cubed potatoes in a large pot of salted water until tender, about 15 minutes.
  • Drain the potatoes and return them to the pot. Add warm milk, softened butter, salt, and black pepper. Mash until smooth and creamy.
  • In a separate saucepan, melt remaining butter over medium heat. Stir in flour to form a roux, cooking for about 1 minute.
  • Gradually whisk in chicken broth and water, stirring until the gravy thickens, about 5 minutes. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Serve the mashed potatoes topped with the thickened gravy.
