In a large pot, combine the white wine, cinnamon sticks, star anise, cloves, orange slices, and honey.
Heat the mixture over medium heat until it begins to steam, but do not allow it to boil.
Reduce the heat to low and simmer for 20 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
Strain the mulled wine to remove the spices, if desired.
Serve the mulled white wine warm in mugs, garnished with a cinnamon stick or a slice of orange if desired.
