Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened to room temperature
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar packed
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 eggs large
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups chocolate chips plus extra for spider legs
  • 1 cup melted chocolate for spider legs

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  • In a large bowl, cream together the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth. Beat in the vanilla extract and eggs until fluffy.
  • In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually blend this into the creamed mixture.
  • Stir in the chocolate chips by hand using a wooden spoon.
  • Drop dough by rounded tablespoonfuls onto the prepared baking sheets.
  • Bake in preheated oven for 10 to 12 minutes, or until edges are nicely browned.
  • Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.
  • Once cooled, use a small amount of melted chocolate to create spider legs coming out from the chocolate chips on the cookies.
