Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
In a large bowl, cream together the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth. Beat in the vanilla extract and eggs until fluffy.
In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually blend this into the creamed mixture.
Stir in the chocolate chips by hand using a wooden spoon.
Drop dough by rounded tablespoonfuls onto the prepared baking sheets.
Bake in preheated oven for 10 to 12 minutes, or until edges are nicely browned.
Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.
Once cooled, use a small amount of melted chocolate to create spider legs coming out from the chocolate chips on the cookies.
