Grilled avocados are a simple, smoky side dish or appetizer with creamy centers and lightly charred edges. They are quick to prepare and pair well with salads, tacos, grilled meats, or can be served on their own with a squeeze of lime and a sprinkle of salt.

Ingredients
  

  • 2 medium avocados ripe but still firm, halved and pitted
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt or to taste
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper freshly ground
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice optional, for serving

Instructions
 

  • Preheat a grill or grill pan to medium-high heat.
  • Brush the cut sides of the avocado halves with olive oil, then season with salt and black pepper.
  • Place the avocados cut-side down on the grill and cook for 2 to 3 minutes, until grill marks appear and the avocados are slightly softened.
  • Remove from the grill, drizzle with lime juice if desired, and serve warm.
