Cold Brew Iced Coffee
A smooth, refreshing cold brew iced coffee made by steeping coarsely ground coffee in cold water, then serving it over ice. It is mellow, less acidic than hot-brewed coffee, and easy to customize with milk or sweetener.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup coarsely ground coffee use a medium or dark roast for best flavor
  • 4 cups cold water filtered if possible
  • to taste ice cubes for serving
  • to taste milk or cream optional
  • to taste sweetener optional, such as simple syrup or sugar

Instructions
 

  • Add the coffee grounds to a large jar or pitcher.
  • Pour in the cold water and stir gently to make sure all the grounds are saturated.
  • Cover and let steep in the refrigerator or at room temperature for 12 hours.
  • Strain the coffee through a fine-mesh sieve lined with a coffee filter, cheesecloth, or a nut milk bag.
  • Serve the cold brew over ice and add milk, cream, or sweetener if desired.
