A smooth, refreshing cold brew iced coffee made by steeping coarsely ground coffee in cold water, then serving it over ice. It is mellow, less acidic than hot-brewed coffee, and easy to customize with milk or sweetener.

Ingredients

use a medium or dark roast for best flavor

cold water
filtered if possible
to taste
ice cubes
for serving

milk or cream
optional

optional, such as simple syrup or sugar
Instructions
Add the coffee grounds to a large jar or pitcher.
Pour in the cold water and stir gently to make sure all the grounds are saturated.
Cover and let steep in the refrigerator or at room temperature for 12 hours.
Strain the coffee through a fine-mesh sieve lined with a coffee filter, cheesecloth, or a nut milk bag.
Serve the cold brew over ice and add milk, cream, or sweetener if desired.
