Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup milk (dairy or non-dairy) Almond milk, coconut milk, or any preferred choice
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder freshly ground for better flavor
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon for spice and flavor
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger freshly grated if possible
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground cardamom optional, for traditional chai flavor
  • 1 pinch black pepper enhances absorption of turmeric
  • 1 teaspoon honey or maple syrup to taste, for sweetness
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract adds warmth and depth to the flavor

Instructions
 

  • In a small saucepan, combine milk, turmeric, cinnamon, ginger, cardamom, and black pepper.
  • Heat over medium heat until hot, but not boiling, about 5-7 minutes.
  • Remove from heat and stir in honey or maple syrup, and vanilla extract.
  • Use a whisk or milk frother to mix well until frothy.
  • Serve warm in a mug, optionally garnish with a cinnamon stick or a sprinkle of cinnamon on top.
