In a small bowl, dissolve the yeast in warm water with a pinch of sugar. Let stand until frothy, about 5 minutes.
In a large bowl, combine the yeast mixture, sugar, warm milk, melted butter, egg, flour, and salt. Knead the dough until smooth and elastic.
Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
Punch down the dough and divide it into 12 equal pieces. Shape each piece into a ball and place in a greased baking pan.
Cover again and let rise for another 30 minutes until the rolls are doubled in size.
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Brush the rolls with melted butter.
Bake for 15-18 minutes, or until the rolls are golden brown. Remove from the oven and brush with more melted butter.
