Martinelli’s Apple Juice Recalled Due to Potential Mold Contamination

April 28, 2025

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has announced a recall of 7,234 cases of Martinelli’s Apple Juice over concerns of possible mold contamination.

The recall affects a specific batch of 10-ounce glass bottles sold in four-packs. These bottles may contain elevated levels of patulin, a mycotoxin naturally produced by mold and fungi found on apples. Prolonged exposure to patulin can lead to symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, gastrointestinal discomfort, and other health issues.

S. Martinelli & Company initially issued the voluntary recall on March 18. On April 22, the FDA classified it as a Class II recall—meaning the product could cause “temporary or medically reversible” health problems.

How To Identify the Recalled Bottles
The affected apple juice comes in clear, round glass 10-ounce bottles with white metal screw-top lids, packaged in four-packs. Key details to look for:

  • UPC: 0 41244 04102 2
  • Best By Date: December 5, 2026

The recalled juice was distributed to retailers across 28 states, including California, Florida, Texas, New York, and Michigan, among others. (You can find the full list of affected batch and pallet numbers on the FDA’s recall notice page.)

What To Do if You Purchased the Recalled Juice
If you have the recalled Martinelli’s Apple Juice, do not consume it. Instead, dispose of the product safely or return it to the store where it was purchased for a refund. If you have any health concerns related to patulin exposure, consult your healthcare provider.
